I was a little disappointed that Minecraft was announced only for 360. This is such a great game that I think everyone should be able to play it.
I also think the game would be a great fit on the PS3 due to Sony's more open PSN approach.
It's a different team making the 360 version, and it's not a direct port from the PC - they have said there will be differences.
I assume players will be able to meet up in a lobby of sorts, and enter a single world instance to create together. And I also assume players will be able to drop in to each other's worlds (like in Crackdown etc) and play together.
So I guess Mario Kart and GT5 are basically the same game then as you drive around in both?
I play LBP and Minecraft - they both require imagination, but they are vastly different games - and both excellent.
Depends on what type of games you like, and whether there are any Trophies that require online.
You can check a Trophy list before renting, and so you'll know if there's anything you can't get without a Pass.
Whilst I applaud your enthusiasm to get Platinum's, don't forget to enjoy the game, and hope you don't miss out on some great titles just because you can't get a Plat in future :)
Yeah, I would also add to what you said by suggesting that some gamers who are not sure about a title, buy it used, could end up loving it so much they buy a sequel at full price rather than wait.
Publishers should see the used market as free marketing. It has the ability to create news fans!
I agree that publishers see used sales etc as lost sales.
I'd ask them where's their proof that any gamer buying used would have bought the game full price, or on a future budget release!!
It's the same with piracy - publishers claim it's costing the industry billions - but they assume every illegal download is a lost sale. Which is not even close to being true. (I don't agree with piracy, but I also don't agree with the publishers l...
I totally agree with you... but has anyone checked the T's & C's for disc based games?
Do we actually own the game, or is the publisher just granting rights to a license to install/play the game?
If that's not in the current T's & C's, then I suspect it'll be appearing soon. (Even though it's been proved in court a few times that unless the T's & C's are on the outside of the box they hold no legal value - for e...
There's lots of sides to the argument.
Overall, the online pass adds zero value to the customer for the specific game they want to play. It's intended to generate profit, destroy the used market, and stop people lending games or sharing. It will also make a bit of a dent in the rental market too.
However, to play devil's advocate for a moment...
The video game industry is tough. Both MS and Sony have struggled to turn a profit...
I thought the average age of a gamer these days was something like 37!
The media keeps pushing these stereotypes. It's just sloppy, cheap, journalism. Where's the article about surgeons who game being better than their non-gaming peers? Where's the articles about gamers having better problem solving skills, and better reaction times?
Sure there's a small subset of gamers when that fall right in to the stereotype - but in general more has be...
Sounds plausible....
MS got burned by Nvidia on the original XBox, so doubt they'd go back to there. Makes sense to stick with AMD, especially if they intend to add BC to the next Xbox.
Sony never really planned to use Nvidia for the PS3's GPU. It was a late-in-the-day decision because of constrained Cell supplies. BC would be harder if they jumped to AMD (as MS found with the switch from Nvidia to AMD). But if Sony got screwed by Nvidia in the sa...
I love Grid, but TOCA 2 is just about my fave driving game of all time.
No other game has captured the feeling of being absolutely on the limit of grip while racing.
The figures in the article tell us nothing.
To me Uncharted is more of a Single player game. So I didn't bother to download the U3 Beta. I'll probably have a go at it when I buy the game.
Both UC3 and Gears 3 are going to be great - they are two of my favourite IP.
Seconded!!
Yep, either Crash Mode needs to be brought back in the next Burnout game, or Criterion should make a Burnout 2 style Crash Mode as a digital download (as you suggest - HD and all the bells and whistles).
Ummm, looks to me like both platforms have an exclusive here... PC has EVE Online, PS3 has Dust 514....
I don't believe CCP has definitively said that Dust 514 will ALWAYS be a PS3 exclusive. Wouldn't surprise me if it does come to PC in the future.
I don't think they are forgetting the PC platform at all - this is a fantastic technical project. Not only is this project cross platform, but also links two totally different games together. I can...
I've been thinking about this a bit more... I'm wildly speculating btw,
Lets say an EVE Online Corp puts up a request for a specific planet to be conquered by Dust players. And that planet is owned by a rival corp.
Also assuming that Dust does indeed end up as download only, and possibly for free or low cost (EVE's CEO suggested free to play - which means zero cost of entry in my book)
To avoid massive griefing, and temp account...
The trailer they showed seemed clear that an ISK value was attached to everything. So I assume players will need to group together to buy the best stuff (like the Corps in EVE Online)
Whether Credits convert to ISK I dunno. It would suck if people with bigger RL bank accounts had access to the best equipment - it creates a horribly uneven playing field.
Perhaps the purchase of Credits will be to kick start the economy in the game, after which the game could...
I don't buy it....
A game that launched in 2008 had a feature left out, so that in 2011 a totally different style of game could be released as a DL only title with limited Kinect control. And that DL only title was only started 12 months ago....
I think this will be a nice, fun little game, but why spin some BS Criterion?!
A proper crash mode definitely needs to return in the next Burnout title
Game looks great for a PSN/XBLA title. This trailer doesn't come close to showing what the game is really like.
From what I've seen it's like the old top down Grand Theft Auto games, but with an explosive strapped to the car.
Will be an entertaining filler before the next proper Burnout game.
Molyneux is one of the greats. Not every developer can say they created a genre.
Unfortunately since his successes with Bullfrog up to 1997ish, and the very early days of Lionhead it's been one disappointment after another. Some of that is his fault but some of that is the position he's now in.
This isn't intended to sound fanboyish, but I really think his position in Microsoft is the problem. Molyneux isn't a corporate suit, he's a gee...
I don't know if MS is afraid. They just don't need new AAA exclusive IP right now.
Look at the sales (US especially), they are doing well. This is mainly off the back of Halo, Gears and Fable, and the launch of Kinect.
Why would they spend money investing in new IP when their existing IP is selling by the bucket load, and a lack of new AAA IP is not hurting hardware sales.
I don't agree with this as a strategy, and I think Xbox ...
