T's & C's are not worth the paper they are written on. There's many cases where they have been laughed out of court. i.e If you open the box you agree to the T's & C's, but you have to open the box to read them....
What's interesting is that it shows battery development has roughly kept pace with other technology improvements.
A much faster CPU/GPU, bigger, brighter screen on the Vita, and it gets the same battery life as the PSP.
Slightly off topic... I think the thing that is currently letting down a lot of devices.. like smart phones, gaming devices and so on, is battery life. There's no way I should need to charge up my smart phone twice a day if I use it h...
Update:
Apparently PS3 / Vita saves will be transferable between versions, and will take advantage of the Sony cloud.
Nice!
Agreed.
Shopto are really good.
Recently Amazon have been failing to get games to me on Day 1, so even though Shopto are sometimes a few pennies more expensive it's worth it for the reliable (sometimes early) delivery.
Yeah, was a huge shame.
Props to the community for keeping this game alive and making it in to the game it should always have been! Rarely has one game received such massive support.
Funny, I remember on this site back in 2007 people claiming the PS3 would never hit 50million or catch up with the 360.
Sony have definitely made a mistake this gen with the price point and delay - but they've built a fantastic console, and I am sure they have learned some very valuable lessons this gen.
It's a bit of cyclical thing being on top of the console world. We shouldn't forget that Nintendo threw away a 90%+ lead back in the NES days. ...
I could do with revisiting FFX.
This may sound greedy, but I wonder if the PSN version will be downloadable to the Vita (similar to some PS3 / PSP titles) - so only need to buy it once.
And I hope progress / saves will be transferable (or automatically sync'd) so I can play it on both systems - handy for playing it on Vita on the move, and PS3 when I'm at home.
Queue for 6 days - beat SP in 8 hours. Well worth the wait!
Sounds to me like they've just chucked as much as they can server side.
However, Guild Wars does background patching - so it's not impossible - I just can't see how MW3 would do it when it's essential everyone is on the same version.
They could possibly stream patches for MP while the player is in SP. Or they could drip files down when a player accesses the MP menu and you have to wait for it to download the player config files - but I'd ...
Yeah, and how many sales can potentially be lost by launching a bug ridden game, and then a patch that seriously affects the game further.
And the patch wasn't Day 1 either, so just smacks of desperation, rushing the product and lacking QA.
Way to make their money back!
Can't believe people would defend a shoddy product. QA is there for a reason - but I can imagine it's the first area that gets hit when costs must be cut.
It had it's flaws, but was a really nice game. Would have liked to see a sequel.
Reviewers should not hand out scores based on some promised Day #1 patch (not saying this site did, but it sounds like it did influence the score)
Games should never have Day 1 patches - that just suggests a rushed product.
IMHO this gen has taken a huge backwards step (more than one actually).... The speed of getting in to play games. I miss the days of popping in a cartridge and having the game start quickly. Whether it be mandatory installs, transferrin...
Fondaumiere's argument holds no water.
He didn't 'lose' 1 million sales.
First. He seems to think that the 1 million additional copies was purely from used sales. However he doesn't take in to account people lending / giving the game to friends, and from rentals.
Second. The people who bought the game used did so because conditions were right.. i.e. price, or some sort of bundle or promotion (which he does touch on).
I've never really understood why people would buy a laptop as their primary gaming machine.
However, with the advent of the Thunderbolt / Light Peak ports, in theory a person could have a low spec laptop for on the go use, which then plugs in to a dock housing a better mid-range GPU, hooked up to a monitor for desktop gaming.
(Again) in theory the person could simply upgrade the dock (or modules in the dock) when a new GPU.
Well said. +bub
The only criticism of CoD is that since CoD4 they've not really pushed the boundaries of the IP. And in some ways it feels like EA in the early 2000's when they were pushing EA Sports titles and Need For Speed so often that there was no way the developers could maintain quality.
I hated MW2 as it felt like a half arsed effort and in hindsight really reflected the turmoil that was going on behind the scenes. MW3 looks a lot better, bu...
So far I'm only a few hours in (just got to second hub), and while I am really enjoying the game there are a lot of laughable flaws.
I like how the enemy seem to be terrified of walking through some doors. In one section I just sat by the door and about 6 enemy stood outside. The door was open, they had direct line of fire, but were reluctant to walk through. I picked them off one by one and only took fire from the last guy. Has happened a few times and doesn't ap...
Cool. Recently got back in to level making in LBP2. Looking forward to the Move pack.
Yup. All a nation can do is try and ensure the impact of the cyclical boom and bust is as minimal as possible.
Unfortunately for the UK it appears Labour were deluding themselves. Brown said on a number of occasions that during his time as the Chancellor he had ensured the days of boom and bust were gone. I'm not saying he should have foreseen what the banks were doing, but he was wrong, and Labour were just as guilty as the previous Conservative government for widenin...
I don't have figures, but it certainly seems like there are less developers in the UK now than in previous years.
Maybe most / some / all of the people made unemployed stayed in the UK and found other jobs in the industry. Or maybe some went overseas, and maybe others left the industry entirely.
It should be kept in mind that tax breaks can take many forms. For example, developers could be given an incentive to set up a graduate scheme. This has the kn...
It could be argued that almost all F2P MMO's are just extended trials. But DCUO feels even more so. Everything about it is designed to push the player to eventually subscribing (i.e. lack of trophy support for F2P players).
For DCUO overall it's probably a good thing though.
In terms of the industry as a whole I think the flip flopping from subscription to F2P is a bad thing (Star Trek Online, Warhammer, Champions Online and so on). So many recent s...
