I wish I could get paid to be so wrong!
If someone wants to get the most out of a Freemium or F2P game properly, they need to budget accordingly.
if I was playing a decent Freemium title I'd probably budget the same as if I were subscribing to WoW. The advantage of F2P / Freemium is that I can choose when to spend and how much. Whose fault is it if a player decides to blow a fortune on the game!
People thinking Freemium and F2P are a rip off are looking at the wrong games - the developers ar...
I don't mind the auction house, and can see why always online has been implemented (to a degree)... but it really sucks for people who want to play while travelling, or people with sucky ISP's or really bad coverage, or people who move house and have no internet for a while (when I moved it took 3 weeks to sort out).
However, I suspect that some enterprising souls will find a way of fooling the game in to thinking it's online...
Ultimately, if you...
I swear I remember reading that when Sony announced the price of the Vita press, analysts and even gamers alike said it was pretty much spot on.
How the economy and times must changing for opinions to flip flop so quickly!!!
I'm not gonna argue if Sony drop the price, but the feature set of this device seems pretty damn good value for money. Especially when you consider most modern smartphones (which are less powerful, with poorer displays etc) cost more...
It's strange that so many are leaving when there are no recent alternatives to migrate to.
Would be interesting to know if there's a theme to the migration... such as all long standing players, or whether it's new players joining up and then leaving soon after.
I recently re-subscribed after a break of a couple of years. Started a new char and found the entire world pretty much empty except for the main hub cities - even now, at level 60+ I still...
I may just be getting old, but reading the 'excited children trying to be funny' style of prose was just painful. I half expected a "Skyrim... hurr hurr, he said rim", joke in there somewhere.
On Topic: Skyrim looks great, a definite step up from Oblivion (not hard); I hope it outdoes Morrowind.
Just got rid of my X-Wing 3.5" discs. Also B-Wing expansion pack. Still got TIE Fighter kicking around somewhere.
Awesome games from a time when LucasArts still meant quality and pretty much every release was AAA.
Google is not a hardware company - so they would have to partner with someone - like they've done with the ChromeOS netbooks. I don't really see Google getting involved.
Apple have already joined the party with iPod Touch, iPhone etc.
I don't think Apple need a console to compete with PS3 etc - they've already got the Mac personal computer. With Apple's rising market share against Windows PC's (still tiny percentage, but rising) I&...
I agree with you that we need PC only devs pushing the hardware (just as we need console exclusive devs pushing 360, PS3 etc).
However looking at the way new IP perform (on any platform), and looking at sales on PC in general, it's a risky strategy for a dev (especially a new one) to stick to one platform. I hope they don't go under after one title.
When big developers who have traditionally mainly stuck to the PC such as Valve, Blizzard, Crytek, iD ...
Why does everything need saving!?
If it's not the 3DS needing saving it's the PS3! It's a joke. So many armchair experts masquerading as 'journalists'.
What if this is a tactical move by Ninty in response to the positive press the Vita is getting. How stupid are these 'experts' going if the 3DS has a massive holiday season.
To a large extent Nintendo have had the lion's share of the mobile gaming market - ...
Excuse me Bioware but I'LL be the judge of that!! :)
Yeah, KOTOR is what Episodes 1-3 should have felt like. Much more gritty.
Mass Effect is excellent, and it may be more mature - but the story is fairly Sci-Fi cliche
"Maybe if you knew anything about religions you would know MOST, and I say most cuz there are some crazy ones, promote peace and love"
As long as you accept THAT religions definition of peace and love and no other!
Games are just the current in thing to blame, and it's easier to blame them than parents etc taking responsibility for their children's upbringing, or just accpeting that there are some unhinged people in society. When the next big thing comes along the various moral outrage groups will drift off gaming and vilify that.
I remember in the early 80's people blamed movies for all the world's woes (pretty much anything with Arnie in from the 80's caused a shi...
For me ME2 was significantly different from ME1 in terms of the balance between Action and RPG. It swung slightly more toward Action game with RPG elements - but fundamentally both ME1 and 2 are RPG's.
I hope they find a nice balance between RPG and Action game play. I prefer a slightly more RPG balance, but whatever they do I'm sure the game will be fun.
My biggest hope is they don't have yet another tedious mini game! Mining was pretty awful!...
The simple answer is 'because they can'.
An explanation could be... If a publisher / developer is providing online services or servers, then they incur an ongoing cost to support.
Lets say a publisher sells a game with online MP, and it is in some way locked to the person who bought it. In this situation a publisher could plan to shut down the servers / services after X amount of years once the game loses popularity and the community dwindles.
The argument against Online Passes:
- Does not benefit the consumer in any way
- Buying pre-owned can creates a fan of a series, so they may buy a sequel full price. They may also create word of mouth advertising, telling their friends about a great game they played, and they in turn may buy the game new, budget or pre-owned (and the cycle continues)
- A pre-owned sale DOES NOT equal a lost full price or budget sale. Publishers don't seem to get this!
- Pu...
Yeah, it's one of the main reasons I come to N4G... fanboy ranting and delusion is entertaining.
Oh dear...
Probably cus so many people saw a new IP FPS, and then wondered where all the running and gunning was! :)
It was a fantastic game, and as other have said, amazing graphics and soundtrack.
