Annoying.

A year or so ago I was in an extended battle with Sony in the UK for a while as I had used 5 activations. I've had 3 PS3's die, so needed a reset as I couldn't deactivate those broken ones and activate the 6th machine (the third replacement).

Sony's answer was...

It's ILLEGAL to game share, and as you can not provide serial numbers and receipts for the broken PS3's... tough luck.

They also t...

The frenzy around one trailer is ridiculous. I can't believe how forgiving people are after the POS GTA IV.

Yeah, does rather make it sound like PS3 users were beta testers!

And if that's the case then a 'reward' would be nice... like the 50 extra levels the XBLA version is getting. :)

I'm not particularly bothered. I am waiting for the sequel.

I was wondering why Nate often came across as drunk! It's like he's reaching out at every flat surface for stability, and half the time the animations (especially quick stop starts) make him look really unsteady! :)

I find the extra animations in U3 a bit distracting - they are fantastic some of the time, but when they go wrong (mainly due to my lack of control) it is really noticeable and immersion breaking.

Also finding on normal that the AI is a l...

I thought Joe Danger was one of the first titles to use the Sony 'Pub Fund' where they match dev costs if the game is exclusive.

If true I guess it means timed exclusive rather than true exclusive.

I'm not overly bothered by the extra levels going to the XBLA version. The sequel is in the works and I'm ready to move on.

We don't really know the facts here, but I don't see a huge difference between WarnerBros selling Gamestop a bunch of DLC codes, or pushing the cost of the online pass to the end user who bought second hand. Either way WarnerBros profit, which is the whole intent of the scheme (i.e. make money from used sales).

I understand that devs/publishers hate the second hand market - but expecting a piece of the pie just because the technology allows is a bit wrong. I can'...

It really depends how you chop the numbers.

Sure, if you go by metacritic then FPS' are not dominant. But if you go by sales per genre I bet FPS would be way ahead of anything else. That means if a developer is evaluating a new game (lets take Syndicate for example), then it must be appealing to make a game in whatever genre is going to net the most sales.

And when did you last see a really innovative FPS? They are few and far between - there is far mo...

I usually start on Normal / Medium, and if it seems too easy I restart on a harder level.

I think the concept of difficulty levels in most games is kinda outmoded these days. Surely the game and the AI should be smart enough to provide a constant challenge without making it obvious to the player.

To think that the skills of game players can be broken in to three distinct categories is stupid.

I always really disliked the difficulty slider ba...

Losing my Paradise City save, twice, was one of the main reasons I got PSNPlus.

Still haven't got Platinum!

I don't see the point of comparing them - fanboys will always have their favourite no matter what.

Any gamer with both a 360 and PS3 and a fan of 'sim style' racing games is likely to have both of these titles anyway. I have Forza 3 and GT5. The only reason I didn't buy Forza 4 is that my 360 is loaned out to a buddy.

Slightly off topic... It would be nice if MS, for the Next Xbox, drops the propriety connector for peripherals. It's rea...

LeMans 24hours and other endurance racing have to deal with night driving.

Ice racing - ex F1 world champ Alain Prost was very successful in that

Formula 1 races can occur in very wet and changeable conditions which makes for interesting strategy decisions. Also, some drivers are much better at dealing with those conditions (Jensen Button is a good example) Pretty much all European racing series (Touring Car, GT, GP2 etc etc) all deal with wet conditions. ...

@Nix.

I had never played a Codemaster's F1 game until 2011, and I really enjoy it - so no idea what they changed or fixed from 2010 version.

I'm a big F1 fan IRL too, so my expectations were high, but for me the game feels right. But it does need a wheel to play it 'properly'. Not played it online yet, so maybe that's where the problems are - but then again I don't think I've ever played a sim (or even a sim/arcade game like Grid...

I agree Kran.

Nintendo have shown that old tech can still sell by the bucketload.

Combine that with the poor economy worldwide, and the high cost of R&D. Also that even MS doesn't have deep enough pockets to sell another console at a loss for the first year or two.

Throw in increasing development costs every gen, and the number of devs that have gone bust this gen

Add that every gen the price of games has risen a bi...

Yeah, if I was being flippant, I'd say I would hope if MS made a transforming console... it's transform in to something that had games I wanted to play.

In Transformers an Xbox 360 turned in to a killer robot... Why would Microsoft advertise a console in a film that can turn in to a killer robot if it wasn't something they were actually working on???

Can't wait to buy a transforming XBox console

Whilst it's obvious Turn10 are hugely inspired by Polyphony, I don't see Forza as a challenger to GT5 (or vice versa) because they are on different consoles. Competition is healthy, which is good - but I'm not sure Polyphony see anyone else as competition, they just do their own thing.

In my humble opinion I have always found Forza's driving mechanics felt a little off, even with driver assists turned down - but it may be because the graphics are a little mor...

And I believe Sony also have their pub fund, where they match the dev costs for any indie who makes an exclusive PSN game. That takes a lot of risk out of developing a game, plus they get royalties and marketing help.

I agree with Nitrolwolf2.

A developer can write the best shaders, processes and other code they can - and their performance stats may show a console to be 'maxed out'.

But given more time they may find a technique that improves the efficiency of aspects of their code or does something more 'cheaply' by taking up less CPU cycles etc.

So in effect a console never really gets maxed out, it's the efficiency of the code that di...
