Why wouldn't they?

I dislike the easy, medium, hard etc difficulty levels of some games, and the slider bars in stuff like Skyrim.

But I don't know if adaptive difficulty is the answer - because how does the game gauge what's the right level - if I struggle in a particular section of a game I want to have the sense of accomplishment when I finally beat it. not feel the game gave me a free pass.

Death and difficulty in games is going to be a huge thing as the industry...

You know the only person so far in this thread bringing up Sony is you.

Read the comments. People seem genuinely disappointed with the Fable series not meeting it's potential, and Lionhead appearing to be in decline. Nothing to do with Sony bias on N4G.

If you liked Fable 2, then good for you - each to their own. I thought it lacked substance in every area. The story wasn't told as well as in 1. The end boss battle was a joke. It failed to impro...

It's pretty rare that a studio (especially 1st party) will not be able to improve on each iteration.

Fable 1 was a good game, not sure how they went so wrong with 2. Number 3 kinda pulled things back a bit (mainly because I liked the 'industrial' setting more).

I've cut Peter Molyneux a lot of slack because of fond memories of Populous and other Bullfrog games. But it feels like Lionhead are going the way of Rare, and that's really sad t...

MasterCornholio is right, no GPS on WiFi only version.

However it will use WiFi location services - which is not as accurate as GPS or even 3G antenna location, but would be Ok in some situations (i.e for gathering country or more local information for leader boards etc)

That's a good point OpenGL. But Apple do the same as far as I can see. My iPhone pops up a message telling me to connect to WiFi if my download is over 20Mb as well.

I see a lot of similarities between Apple and Sony when it comes to downloading... There will be plenty of sub 20Mb games (like Mini's etc), but for the big stuff it'll need WiFi.

But yeah, you're right... 3G is pretty much pointless, except for when GPS and WiFi are off, it cou...

Extra subscription as far as I know.

Not seen the 3G model, so don't know if it's a standard or micro sim or whether it is even user accessible - but even if it is you're tied to the network that has partnered with Sony (AT&T in US, Vodafone in UK).., unless someone finds a way to jailbreak the Vita so you could use your own data sim, but you'd still need to pay for the data you use.

EDIT: @darthv72. Unless the very act of purchasing a 3...

IGN really seem to be gunning for the Vita at the moment.

How hard would it have been for them to act like journalists and check their sources. Running the story and firing off an email to Sony is pointless - why not check with Amazon to see if it's a mistake first.

Although IGN doesn't show the time the story was posted it appears (from the comments) that it took less than an hour from the time the story broke, to the update being posted!!

@Raiinstorm81

I don't agree that having one model would cause less confusion - the Kindle has sold well in multiple models. But I do kinda agree that 3G is outdated for a handheld games console.

3G is only really going to be any use for downloading games, not allowing online play (either in terms of bandwidth, reliability, or cost). I think they should have gone with WiFi only now, and if the Vita sells well then launch a 4G / LTE model in a couple of y...

For me, although it really pains me to say it, Uncharted 3 SP was the biggest disappointment for me.

ND are masters at using story telling techniques and creating fun characters and phenomenal graphics, but the story itself was dull. It was obvious how it was going to play out from the first couple of levels.

I also stopped playing Uncharted 3 due to getting a bit bored of it. Real shame as the story telling techniques and characters are great - I just found the story very dull, and too similar to Uncharted 2.

Yeah, I agree.

2011 was the first year where I really started to think twice about getting games Day 1. - In previous years I ended up with a massive stack of games that I never completed.

With most single player campaigns being quite short, and a lot of games getting over-scored or over-hyped I have rented a lot more than bought this year, and have saved myself a fortune!

I only buy games that either have; replay value, a multiplayer comp...

I'm not a big fan of developers / publishers wielding the ban hammer for a problem with THEIR game. In this case, if warnings were handed out first, then they have acted just about correctly, but ultimately....Get it patched!!

It's a good question.

I've owned every console every generation at some point since as far back as I remember gaming... but the next gen I think will be the first where I limit what consoles I buy.

It's not even because of the cost, it's that this gen has seen each manufacturer go for very different strategies...

Nintendo went for the casuals mainly, and a few hardcore titles, but the reliance on motion controls, recycling the...

The sad thing is you're probably just speculating and haven't even played / seen the PS3 version.

I've been playing Skyrim on PS3 since day 1. The lag after extended periods was awful to begin with, but the patch sorted that out 99% of the time. I'm almost 70 hours in and have only had 1 quest bugged (fixed with a reload) and a couple of other minor issues. Not a single freeze.

All versions have, or have had, their problems. I guess you mi...

The author may as well just have given a link to MS' Xbox360 page and saved wearing out his keyboard typing nothing but marketing bullet points

Wireless controllers FTW!

10 million Skyrim sales say otherwise.

There's plenty of AAA games that sell really well which are primarily SP games (even if they have a MP component)... Uncharted, Assassins Creed. GTA... the list goes on and on.

Interesting post.

My gaming has kinda gone the other way... I was probably 60 / 40 PC vs console last year. Now I'm more like 5 / 95 PC vs console.

Although there are some amazing games on PC, I only see the PC being technically better. When it comes to gaming experiences I am preferring consoles - there's nothing to rival Uncharted on PC. And although Skyrim is miles ahead on PC, I'm happy to have the 'inferior' experience on console, ...

Never been to Player Affinity before, but found that article to be rather biased.

Playing sales rather than games is always a poor sign on a GAMING site.

How is Sony giving their install base lots of games that can not be found elsewhere a bad thing!?
