Well, I was hoping for more advanced game engine (like Source or Unreal 3), but it's ok. Deus Ex was never about graphics and specs (Invisible War has great graphics for it's time, though), it was about immersion and storytelling. Can't wait for it! When it comes out, I'll take a sick day(s). Just make it more like the first DX, and less like IW...
OK. I'm a HUGE fan of DEUS EX series. The first DEUS EX was far better in my opinion. DX:Invisible War was so much watered down and console oriented game, that it doesn't deserve to be a sequel to one of the best games of all time. I mean, DX:IW was a very good game, but nowhere near the first DEUS EX!
And what is "TRUE next gen"? Games that have graphics little better than what's currently available on other systems? Come on, PS3 maybe has/will have somewhat better graphics, but not THAT better to totally outshine XBOX 360.
I'm sorry for going little off-topic...
The only thing that can kill PS3 sales is standalone cheap Blu-Ray player. "Games attach rates" are practically the proof that many people are buying PS3 just to watch movies. I mean, PS3 has the lowest attach rate of all 3 consoles, but still BluRay media keep outselling HD DVD in worldwide sales (notice that I said "BluRay media", not "standalone BluRay players"). Or maybe I'm wrong...
Comments?
Why do you keep mentioning Mario games? I never said that idea of jumping for coins isn't old as the first videogames. All I was saying is:
1) that people can enjoy some nice and competitive games without having to kill or destroy everything on screen;
2) graphics are not everything. It's just like pretty, but stupid girl/boy (depends, of course ;)). Once you've passed behind pretty looks, a game itself is all that's left and matters;
Ask yourself ...
I'm not a Nintendo fan. I don't have any console. I play games on my PC, but I really don't have time to play games that much.
Following your logic, any hardcore gamer will have no problems beating any Mario or Zelda or whatever game on earlier systems such as NES or Master System, which is (probably) not true.
And what deep storytelling an average FPS game have? Aliens are infesting our (or any other) planet, terrorists are going to use new weapon, so you have t...
And what exactly is so advanced in sitting in front of your TV and doing EXACTLY the same you did with PS1 - tapping buttons on a joypad?????????
The only thing more advanced is hardware, but ideas are outdated.
"Hardcore gamer" - what/who the hell is that?? Are "hardcore gamers" people that can't enjoy a videogame if it's not in 5200x4800 resolution with 9093405734098 polygons, and (most important) without violence of any kind. Seriously, why 99% games for "HC GAMERS" are always some dumb/mindless FPS or third person shooter? Why is considered so much fun to kill someone or something, these days??? COD4, GEARS OF WAR, ASSASSINS CREED, DARKNESS, JERICHO, RESIDENT EVIL, U...
More advanced 3D engine has happened, smart guy.
Fanboys are idiots! This is nitpicking! Those differences are hardly, and I mean HARDLY, noticeable by any average or hardcore gamer (fanboys excluded).
Stop approving stories which are here just to ignite a flamewar! We have more than enough idiotic fanboys around here...
There is NO such thing as "pre-pre-alpha stage". There's ALPHA, BETA and FINAL.
And NO, KillZone 2 is NOT in alpha stage! Get over it! Alpha stage of development means "almost not playable", and what we saw in KZ2 showcase is full AI, and not a single graphical or audio bug. It pretty much looks like early BETA to me...
"ALPHA stage" is "developer's eyes only" stuff! Just remember DOOM 3 ALPHA which leaked from E3. Now THAT...
Bubble for you, mate! That's exactly what I think. If this don't improve PS3 sales DRAMATICALLY in next 6-8 months, than I believe it's permanent 3rd place guaranteed.
Agreed! System Shock 1 & 2 were one of the greatest games in gaming history. There's only one game better then SS2 - DEUS EX (not Invisible War, but the first one).
@unixphreak1911:
I don't agree with you. You can't compare gaming market of today with gaming market from 15 years ago. Games development is MUCH larger business today than it was 15 years ago.
Very nice bundle indeed! PES series is huge in Europe.
It's interesting to see how far this idiotic fanboys (on both sides of the fence) can go! I mean - "We" and "They". Rock on, kids!
Well, I'm a gamer since 1988. (Amstrad, Commodore, Amiga, 386), but my favorite period is a Dreamcast period - right before PS2 and Xbox.
Price drop is good for gamers because tougher competition translates into lower prices and/or better service. Next 6 months will be very interesting, because it looks like Sony is playing "everything, or nothing" game - a huge price drop + a few killer apps (UT, MGS, Uncharted). If this doesn't help, then Sony is in serious trouble.
I actually said that Wii is in that "double category" - "casual and hardcore". I just didn't made myself clear on this. So, I agree with you. ;)
You say you're mature, an you keep calling Xbox fans "Xbots"?!? And then go and insult someone with "you are a retarded xbot"!?!
Interesting... :rolleyes:
