No, it's not like Cell. Fusion will have CPU cores and GPU core(s) integrated on the same die.
Also, Cell has one PPE (which is a general purpose core), and 7 SPE units (little co-processors with no cache, branch predictors and different instruction set than PPE), meaning Fusion will probably be far more efficient and more powerful than Cell. "The power of Cell" is more just something that fanboys and paid developers like to talk about. Benchmarks show that Intel's Qu...
This is one of the best comments I've read lately on N4G!!! It's ALL about games, not sales, attach rates, sales gap... Playing games is what matters for a REAL gamer, regardless of the platform.
You have a bubble from me! :)
I can get ~35-45 fps in 1280x1024 on very high (in XP, with little tweak to enable "very high" in XP). My specs: Core 2 Quad @ 3Ghz, 8800GTS SLI, 3GB RAM.
Well, it looks like they are just CLAIMING that it can run Crysis @ 2560x1600, w/ 8X AA. I haven't seen any real benchmark. I have Intel Core 2 Quad @ 3GHz, 3GB DDR2 and GeForce 8800GTS SLI set-up, and I barely hit 25fps in 1600x1200 with maxed settings. In other words, I doubt it could run Crysis in 2560x1600 maxed out at 60fps...
Well, they can wait for February 14th, then make a QUAD SLI set-up involving 9800GX2 and Intel QX6700 CPU, with 4GB DDR3 RAM. If THAT can't run it 50fps at "ultimate-highest" settings, then those programmers, who made that 3D engine, suck big time! ;)
And what would happen if M$ decides to lower the price of Xbox 360 Premium to 249$/EUR, and Arcade to 199$/EUR? Now, THAT would make things a lot more interesting. For example, lower the price for around 50 (or more) bucks, and offer GTA 4 bundled with Xbox 360 Premium for ~249/?EUR. ..
It's highly unlikely that HD DVD can make comeback. If HD DVD even survives, I'll be amazed.
Voodoo 5 6000, anyone? ;)
No it's not worth arguing over - she's extremely HOT!!!!!!! End of story!
:)
@EZCheez:
Yes, you're right about that, but I just had to say it. :)
I'm not bothered, I'm fascinated ;) how someone can argue and "fight" with such passion about irrelevant things like video games. Yes, video games are large business, but 99,9% (if not 100%) here are NOT "in the business", they're just consumers. They are not payed to promote any console, but still, fanboys try so hard to convince you that they made a right choice. Why they j...
There is no need for another iteration of DirectX with a few little (hardly noticeable) improvements, IMO. Hell, even DX9 is not maxed out just yet, not to mention DX10 or 10.1...
Guys like you ruined this site with meaningless posts like that...
God dammit! PS3 fanboys (not normal fans and supporters) are acting like they have a fetish for PS3! "XBOTS this...", "XBOTS that...", "2008. is the year...", "LOL", "ROFL".............. ..........................
Is it possible that someone can like a piece of electonics SO MUCH, to start to hate the OTHER piece of electronics and those who support it???
It does NOT love you back! PS3 is just a console, not a frickin' Me...

M$ will probably make a BluRay player add-on, and complicate stuff even more. If they do that, and then make a bundle offer (360 + BD add-on) for ~350$/EUR (or anything below 400$/EUR), they could give Sony/PS3 a serious run for its money.
Sony, on the other hand, has made it - their "trojan horse" worked. The power of PlayStation brand was the deciding factor in HD format war. The sales will, most likely, jump.
Well, some people have problem with BD winning this war because it'll probably make PS3 sales jump. That's OK IMO, 'cause in business as large as this one, (almost) everything is allowed - bribery, "trojan horse" tactics (PS3)... It doesn't matter as long as you don't kill or threat. Sony corp. really has some very smart people. EXAMPLE: Maybe PS2 wasn't that better then Dreamcast, but it certainly LOOKED that way (you get a console plus a DVD player).
Yes, Deus Ex is THE BEST RPG/FPS ever! ;)
All those games you mentioned....ahhhhh, those were the days...
Deus Ex Invisible War was very good game, but like MK_Red said, it was not-worthy sequel of a GREAT game and which is probably one of the best video games of all time.
Back to the subject:
"Outcast" was excellent game! I remember playing it 7-8 years.
"The Neverhood" was one of the best and funniest adventure/puzzle game I've ever played. I'll never forget that idiotically funny music when I was solving one of the first puzzle...
Bubble for you man! That's what I've been saying all along. Both systems are great. Xbox 360 has more games, PS3 has HD movie playback abilities. Xbox 360 has stronger/bigger online service/community, PS3 has nice and free online service.
So, in the end, it all comes down to personal preference.
The CELL CPU is a very powerful thing, but it's not built for general purpose code - games. CELL architecture involves 1 general purpose core, an 7 specialized cores (little floating point units). Game code is mostly integer and todays programming languages are pretty much sequential, so it's very hard to extract parallelism with them (and CELL is optimized for parallel processing). Thing is, those 7 little cores (or 6 in a case of PS3, where 5 are available to programmer, and one is meant f...
