This read is coming from one of the biggest Xbox fans on this site. The conference may be underwhelming to some because Scorpio was all talk, no proof & there were no new games that weren't leaked. Gaming is about games after all, and if you don't show off any new wares at a conference built around them, you are going to breed disappointment.
The conference was potentially a great setup for the future of Xbox, but for the here & now...
Where is Capcom & Phil Spencer when you need them? This is far from concrete proof. Where's the source for the art? Why is it 'Xbox Exclusive' branding & not Xbox Console Exclusive when we know it is hitting Win10 as well?
I have no idea whether this hits PS4...maybe it does, maybe it doesn't, but this proves absolutely nothing other than ThisGenGaming don't seem to have high standards on what gets published.
Yeah, not like it's all that difficult to photoshop a cover....my niece could've made this.

If you also know the leaked games, there's zero new in the conference...it's worth scrubbing through though just to see the cool bits. I wouldn't expect much beyond that though.

Sony's leaks have been strangely absent though. Really Sony has the only shot at being the saving grace in terms of surprises this year. They could make relatively minor game announcements & still take the cake.
The leak culture is only becoming more pervasive. It'll be on all forms (games, film, tv) to find a way to roll with the changes. Ultimately you can't blame the gaming journalists for just reporting the news. That's what we keep them around for.....

This isn't about anyone's sportsman like conduct...people are just wondering whether or not it's a console multiplat because the last installment was plainly revealed as one. We did see this last gen though, you are right...first installment was included, second hit all platforms. Also has it even been confirmed that MS is co publishing w/ Capcom? The initial leaks said MS paid for the entire thing but that sounds unlikely now w/ the lack of exclusive brand...
It also says XBO at the end of any Division trailers or Playstation at the end of Battlefront ones...those aren't exclusives....I think the sheer fact that this wasn't specifically called an Xbox Win 10 exclusive points to it not even being a timed one. Can you upscale games to 4k on the XBO? As far as I know 4k video has been the only thing possible on consoles so far, and any up scaling on 4k gaming would be on the TV's part. Not sure what the ultimate difference in quality would be there, but I don't see 4k being possible across the board on the Scorpio natively. I'd assume if only certain titles could hit that mark, they wouldn't have advertised it in that way. Could definitely be wrong though.

Yeah those are all very valid. I guess they will show off Crackdown at Gamescom? It's the only place left to show off an actual demo of Recore, which they'll need to do to save face from the people underwhelmed by this trailer...hopefully gameplay for State of Decay 2....Fair bit seemed to be pushed to Gamescom or potentially remaining silent entirely this year.

Yeah it was weird, because it was typically paced pretty well & solid in substance but just had zero surprise & agency, and some strange choices.
The two biggest missteps to me were foregoing on onstage demo for Recore and demoing FF15 instead. That time could've been spent really blowing out a very cool looking game that releases in only 3 months & has nearly never been seen. Big disappointment there. Second misstep was revealing Scorpio. Felt like a react...
That is strange...now that you mention it, I didn't catch them mentioning it as an exclusive at all. I may have missed it but that's a good point. I fully expect it to be an exclusive, but it seems like they'd have made a bigger point out of mentioning it.

Haha was it just me or did Kamiya seem more pissed than ever? Not sure if that dude is just perpetually annoyed or if he dislikes his MS partnership in particular (he did have some choice words for them before Gamesom last year) but he just seemed extremely nonplussed.

The end of the trailer showed Sept. 15th maybe? It was in the teens so second week September, but the camera zoomed out wide right when they showed the date & the onstage presenters didn't clarify it.
Great that the game is coming so soon, but I really think MS missed a great opportunity to give us a meaty Recore on stage demo. That trailer looked cool but we need to see the game in action if it's right around the corner.
To me the main issue was the lack of an onstage demo...I mean this game drops in like 3 months & this is the extent of gameplay shown? I understand MS wants a bit of that Japanese market, but it was baffling to me that they gave the Recore gameplay reveal a short trailer & gave FF an onstage demo instead directly afterwards.

Yeah it seems to me this was a short package made as a back up...once MS' entire show was leaked, they most likely threw this on as a reaction.

Games will be compatible, but the most important question is with they be functional? We've already seen how difficult it seems to be for MS to have decent PC launches for their UWP titles, so hopefully they are ironing out the kinks...the PC launch of games like QB & Gears UE don't really paint a pretty picture of the prospect of games truly "working" across all 3 platforms. The game itself looks interesting, they shoulda shown off a bit more land content just to drive home that this game isn't solely a sailing combat sim.
