There are plenty of third person VR games in development though. One of the biggest is Insomniac's Edge of Nowhere. Third person won't exclude VR.
Would definitely be a surprise if it launches this year though. On the other hand though Sony doesn't seem to feel the need to throw large marketing pushes behind games like these. They allowed Until Dawn to sell based off of word of mouth so they may allow the same for Detroit. It's been in development for a minu...
Yeah he made a couple solid points, but he neglected the most obvious one that you mentioned there, that Nadine could feasibly be removed entirely & the story wouldn't suffer at all. She creates some thematic supports to the idea of Greed & Power, but she doesn't contribute much directly aside from just being someone for Rafe to interact with instead of just chewing scenery.
Also agree that Landis ain't much to write home about. The dude could potentiall...
Okay, correct me if I'm mistaken here, but the crux of your entire argument hinges around a suggestion of "how they should have done it"...which amounts to Nadine completely breaking character, losing all of her intelligence, security & sensibility to suddenly snap, turn on Rafe & be killed by the Drakes?
Sorry but that's just off base on a lot of levels. Firstly we look at Rafe. Rafe had a long history of an antagonistic relationship with the Drak...
This sale may be a bit telling...we know Mighty No. 9 is right around the corner, hence the Mega Man sale, strong rumors of RE7 announced, hence it's sale..Street Fighter cinematic campaign mode for June, rumors of Devil May Cry 5, which leaves Dragons Dogma & Okami...maybe some new reveals on the cards for E3?
I dunno that I'd call it unfair, without Sony's involvement, those works of art wouldn't even exist. All platforms have these experiences, Sony's have been great fun for me, and while I'm glad to see devs & key talent branch out to multiple platforms, I can't begrudge Sony for helping to deliver these talents to a wider audience.
Exactly this...as gamers 'E for Effort' is a praise that you can't really hang all that much on. Risk taking can be important, but it needs to be a worthy risk. I'd rather have a dev perfect a known quantity than fail while taking risks.
The TV was never a good idea as an integral part of the core experience. TV is fine, but it needs to be truly supplemental & the game & show both need to work on their own irrespective of the other.
Well based on the recent news from Lionhead that the free to play model was an MS edict, I don't see any reason to believe the TV wasn't MS' idea considering it was tied to that original XBO vision.
The devs had said that they didn't have the time or the budget to make the game without the live action, translating the video content to game form would be too expensive, so my guess is that once the TV stuff went away, Remedy looked at axing it but it was too ...
Yeah I think the only surprises that'll be on stage will be new indies, hardware & OS functionality. In terms of AAA exclusive reveals, I don't expect anything really. At a stretch maybe a CG trailer for another Rare game. The rest of the show will be dedicated to gameplay for titles we already know about...90 minutes is basically fully accounted for when you factor in the games confirmed & leaked.
Hopefully I'm wrong & hopefully every show has a han...
@the infected
MS has only recently vaguely stated that they are "now open to cross platform play"
What that ultimately amounts to is a vague PR mention in order to create some good will after a long history of being a closed off ecosystem, now becoming one that will support it's console & it's OS only in most instances.
Pretty sure moving forward "cross platform play" will amount to UWP games & the Wi...
Well first off the treasures themselves were what they have always been, but there were also added notes & collectibles that absolutely did tell a story specific to each environment. They flesh the narrative out tremendously & if you missed them, that is on you really. I'm not sure how the actual treasures themselves could tell a story, but they were tied to the narrative in interesting ways.
As far as the puzzles it's just different strokes. I see where you...
Do you think we see Scorpius at E3? I'm thinking it'll only be the Slim on show, but there are rumors that the slim could receive a power boost as well, down to the new cards that the companies are pushing on the consoles for cheap prices.
My guess is that Slim gets revealed with a power increase enough to possibly get it to run Oculus, then Scorpius has breathing room so they may not announce that until next E3.
Either way I'll be holding off...
Not only is VR aimed at a different market, but wouldn't VR essentially be extremely easier & cheaper to develop for? I mean hardware constraints alone won't even allow for huge ornate visuals on PSVR, and the process of creating a VR title doesn't seem that labor intensive, seems to be more about getting the performance & fps up, rendering any image twice, then testing.
I'd be interested to see how much it costs to create something like 100 Ft. Robo...
Castillo....why the change of handle & user pic?
I personally don't care what kind of new hardware any company has coming out in the near future, I just want to see the games that will be supporting the purchase I made w/ my PS4....as log as Sony keeps me happy with that, & keeps me in games I'm good. I'd assume the same will ring true for the majority of Xbox fans for the time being.
I'm all for these companies giving us reasons ...
God you are really going all in on your trolling today.
Keep up the fair to middling work.
@moldy
My bad, I'm just a bit skeptical. MS have taken to revealing games through cg trailers & letting them lie there indefinitely. Sony has taken to revealing games with actual gameplay & leaving their own lying there for quite awhile.
I mean, is it not at least a concern that now that all Xbox games are also PC games, that the versions tied to the lesser hardware could potentially end up as lesser versions? I'm all for MS showing nothi...
@hold it
"Microsoft delivered more on the promises of E3 last year than Sony has. That's not an opinion, that is a fact."
Depends on what your definition of "delivering on promises is"....all of those games were never confirmed for release during that year, and they are still on track for an eventual release.
The only "fact" here is that MS outright canceled Fable Legends & axed DVR functionality af...
Exactly...how boring would E3 be if there were no new reveals? Conferences are only as good as their out of left field announcements, and as long as those announcements are coupled with actual gameplay, let them fly.
Weird that this is all of the sudden an issue when E3 has been revealing games early since it's inception. Do I wish the reveal to release cycle would shorten? Absolutely, but that's just not how things are marketed these days.
I do b...
Sonys conference typically runs a little over 2 full hours, so if that stuff you mentioned takes up an hour then they will still have plenty of time for great new game reveals. I honestly think Sony will have the highest frequency of surprises just because we haven't seen any leaks this week from them, just rumors that have floated around for months now. MS has had a fair few leaks though, considering their conference only runs 90 minutes, I do agree that we may not see much we don't ...
ND did utilize 2 teams at the end of last gen, but Neil & Bruce said they went back to 1 to get UC4 out....that said, Neil has already mentioned how fond he is of misdirection, so there is always a chance...I think if not a teaser for TLOU2, we will get one for the Uc4 dlc.
Either way, I ain't mad at your list in the slightest....if even half of that stuff is shown I'll be fully satisfied. I have a feeling Sony's gonna rule E3 yet again this year...
Capcom published it according to Wiki so I'm assuming they do. Another interesting bit from that wiki is that Ready at Dawn handled the Wii port. We know that RaD is working on new stuff, so maybe they could possibly create a new Okami, maybe even as an NX exclusive? Capcom has already partnered with the other two boxes for exclusives, so if Nintendo is serious about getting third parties back on board, Okami could be a safe bet.
I mean it may just be a general sale &am...
