What crazy prices are you referring to? Playstation Plus is 50 bucks a year w/ great games across all genres & platforms for free, not to mention all of the discounts. EA simply can't compete w/ that variety considering they definitely aren't adding 4 or 5 new games a month. How many true exclusives has Xbox had at this point? Forza & Halo? If you're talking about exclusives hitting the pc as well, MS takes the cake on that one. Regardless of what platforms these games drop on, there are some amazing titles in there, who really cares if a game hits other platforms, that just means more great games to go around for everyone.
In a year of so much diversity & so many huge must-play exclusives on every platform, there will be no definitive "game of the year"…Unlike this year where the same combo of SSB, Bayonetta, Middle Earth, Far Cry 4 & a couple others were all present in most lists, 2015 lists will most likely be vastly different from case to case. I could see Quantum Break being recognized as best new ip, but it will have to cross some mighty chasms to approach the coveted goty title.
Tomb Raider's timed exclusivity deal kinda killed the franchise support from me…I'd pick it up for free on PS+ or maybe buy it used but I can't support a franchise that I could easily not be able to continue to see through in order to force fans to purchase a console they may not want or need. Isn't that kinda the point? Whether in print or in video form, a bullshot is a bullshot. I personally don't get my hopes up for any games graphical capabilities until I see the final form in motion. I'm sure Halo 5 will look great but I'm interested to see what the marketing will entail leading up to release, i like it when games actually look as good or even better than they do in previews on the final disc.
Yup, I could definitely see MS use these price drops as a way to make up for the lack of software they have coming in the first 3/4 of 2015. Wouldn't be surprised to see the price drop back right around the time the Order drops, and then again for Bloodborne. It's a way to boost sales & potentially cannibalize sales from Sony, not sure if it'll actually work in the long term though.
