So you want the top 12 ps4 exclusives to be mainly comprised of Xbox One exclusives? Makes sense.
The Order cannot be judged at this point as some kind of qte fest because we've only seen around 4% of the game (which predominantly featured some of the same standard tps gameplay featured in your somehow anticipated Gears collection) so that criticism isn't really valid, beyond that there are some people that enjoy linear & pointed experiences, gaming is about varie...
From what I understand it's not a very labor intensive process. Take TLOU for example, while one part of the team was working on the Left Behind dlc, the other part was working on the remaster, which by all accounts gave Naughty Dog important bits of experience that they'd carry over to UC4. To me, that's the perfect case scenario, those who never got a chance to play TLOU get to play the best possible version at little dev cost, while ND's first true next gen title got to ben...
Oh there's 20 new studios now? All top secret & unannounced right? Yeah totally believe that bit of news. /s
MS did that w/ 2 games this year, one a collection w/ a single remaster (that was a bit broken) the other a racing game, which doesn't necessarily require as much dedicated dev time. Meanwhile pretty much every other title on the docket (QB, Scalebound, Crackdown, Gears, Halo, etc) was announced either at E3 2014 or 2013 in some cases. Don't see how MS is any different when it comes to announcing exclusives than Sony, time frames all typically line right up. There will be indie surpri...
If you really do own a PS4, sounds like you should get rid of it....doesn't seem like anything can excite you, & no games are moving the needle...since you are not interested in any Sony exclusives, what games do you actually enjoy? You say the PS4 has the most unexciting lineup, so let's hear what is more exciting on the Wii U & PC...Nintendo has some great looking games on the docket, Zelda & Star Fox chiefly, but not a lot else...most everything that drops on the PC wil...
The directors never compared it to TLOU, they actually expressly said the opposite in the GI article, that Uncharted will always be Uncharted...TLOU influenced some game mechanics & environmental aspects, but the story remains as it always was. Hennig was a great writer but to say that she was the only real talent at play in masterpieces like UC2 is completely overinflating her importance & obviously offbase. There were multiple people who worked on the story itself, not to mention al...
Thanks for the interesting breakdown...I always kinda assumed that Amy Hennig did the scripting for the whole series while Druckman helped lay out the story but you've shown that's not necessarily the case. I was really worried when I heard about Hennig's departure because the story is easily one of my favorite factors of UC, but since they've started talking more about the game it seems like those fears will be completely unfounded. Can't wait to see the glory on full dis...
Totally agreed on the potential negatives of open world on story driven games...based off of what they said in the Game Informer piece though, the impetus on these more open areas is that they are kinda like battle arenas but there is a much deeper treasure hunting & journal system to go along w/ them, giving that open world a true point & making you really want to explore every inch of it.
If you haven't read it yet, that Game Informer piece had some pretty juicy tidbits. Apparently one of the benefits of the more open world is something I've been wanting out of the game for awhile, a more involved treasure hunting system. There are apparently completely optional treasure hunting threads that are tied specifically to the lore of their locations, right along w/ the tried & true "x marks the spot" pirate trends. One of my other worries about UC4 based off th...
QTEs have never really bothered me personally would used in moderation. The difference between the QTEs in The Order though is that there are branching pathways instead of a strict fail state.
Totally agreed. Getting kinda tired of journalism & gamers trying to discredit any kind of game experience they don't enjoy. The Order's linearity is not a negative point, it's a dev choice, if you don't dig it, don't play it. Kinda tired of every game being pushed to go open world in order to appease the masses that somehow think that that is a "better" choice for a game.
Pretty sure I read a while back one of the devs confirm that it'll...
@remixx
You said it better than I could. I just think that the current state of criticism of all forms of media takes too many external factors into consideration & most of these opinions are colored by too many outside & irrelevant factors. If I go into a movie w/ a clean slate & no preconceived notions, and another person w/ my same tastes in cinema goes into the movie having read everything the internet has to say about the project, chances are he will come out...
It's also one of the few titles on slate for the holidays that has showcased meaty gameplay segments...hence an actual reason to anticipate a product, seeing it in true action. Hard to get excited about a Scalebound or a Mad Max or a Halo title w/ little to nothing to actually point towards in regards to true gameplay
...or maybe they are looking at their own personal history of favorite game series and Uncharted takes the cake? I'm sure some people would say Halo but I don't see how that's any more valid considering that the series is w/ a new dev that by most accounts isn't up to snuff w/ the original, the last game's mp community dried up pretty quickly, and their last release was particularly buggy. Meanwhile the creative team on UC4 is coming hot off the heels of what many consider...
Totally agree...these sites will never score it accurately as they will all try to either save face in light of the harsh criticisms they've lobbed at it while others may be reactionary in the opposite direction. As far as the worries he mentioned, I don't think those are consumer worries, the people who enjoy what they have seen so far are the ones that know what they are in for & are excited for exactly that. It's the journalism side that will end up w/ self-fulfilling proph...
You should find solace in the fact that odd years are always more satisfying than even ones across all forms of media. Look at the games & movies from the past 10 years or so and it looks pretty clear that for whatever weird reason, the odd years are always the clear standouts in terms of quality & variety.
Not sure you can say that at this stage. First off the new demo introduced 2 new climbing mechanics, new melee & stealth sytems, new aiming reticules, & wider open areas. Secondly, the new Game Informer article specifically mentions that those are only scratching the surface in terms of new mechanics & abilities, as well as specifically mentioning a new dynamic treasure hunting system, things like the grappling hook being integrated into puzzles & an evolving journal system. P...
Totally agreed. Dead Space was easily my second favorite franchise (behind Uncharted) last gen. Storytelling & environments as well as diversity in play style was second to none really. Can't wait to see if they can continue that trend of quality in the sp campaign for Battlefield Hardline & having Amy Hennig on board for their Star Wars game can only be a good thing. They are easily one of the best devs working these days in terms of creating entertaining & compelling sp stor...
Didn't Stashwick announce on twitter back during PSX when the gameplay was released that he was in fact originally playing Nate's brother?
Edit: Found the link..

"Comparing AAA great platform exclusives the Xone wins by a mile. Titanfall 》KZ, DR3 > ISS, F5 > DC (even after fixes) and SSOD, FH2, HMCC have no competition because PS4 only has 3 decent exclusives but SSOD 》 The Order, FH2 》 NMS, HMCC 》 BB. "
Wow, I'm impressed. Not only have you cracked the time travel conundrum & actually played The Order already, but your opinions are so right they are actually facts! I personally loved that deep & interestin...
