I didn't get the chance to try the demo but the devs have said that it won't necessarily be fully indicative of the final game. Just like P.T. was meant to be more of a prologue to something different, seems like that's what may happen w/ RE7.

I wouldn't call my expectations 'pessimistic', I'd say they fall closer to 'realistic'. I'm solely looking at the actual MS history and basing my interpretation off of that combined w/ the actual reveal.

Any console that was revealed sans price, form factor, release date & most importantly actual game play could never be considered to be a "masterful reveal". That is just sheer nonsense.

Should maybe temper expectations until the console has actually been revealed. At this point it is just the number '6 tflops' & lord knows things can change from reveal to release if history is anything to go by.
I've seen people suggest that maybe Crackdown is being pushed to a Scorpio release to potentially achieve that destructiblity w/ the hardware itself instead of leaning so much on the cloud. It'd make sense to me, but its yet another instance of MS selling a product based on features that just aren't practical, only to ditch them entirely down the line.

The Illumiroom project was scrapped & turned into the basis of HoloLens actually. I think they borrowed a couple piece of tech from Illumiroom & they streamlined the idea behind it. At some point if HoloLens happens & they are able to widen the FOV drastically, you can pull off illumiroom w/o all of the expensive projectors.

This is great news if it pans out, the premium hardware has been assumed to come in at a high price, but all of this talk makes it sound like it will be roughly the same if not a little more than a traditional console release.

End of the day, Sony could sell their biggest franchises to MS tomorrow & it may not end up as much more than a great paycheck for Sony because MS doesn't have the first party infrastructure in place to do much beyond Gears, Forza & Halo.

The game is most definitely not tied to the film in a narrative sense, but that wouldn't negate the potential for a lot more eyes on the property if they released it in tandem with the movie, connection notwithstanding.

Have you looked at the license Sony holds recently? Sony could be billions of dollars in the hole & still end up with plenty of liquid assets to stay afloat. They could sell off the James Bond or Spider-Man licenses alone & most likely keep themselves in the black for a long time.

Everything that has been shown for PSVR, at every event & conference, has been running on the vanilla PS4. No one has had any issues with that, and previews have typically been pretty glowing.

In an article on here today Andrew House said that he was surprised by the early announcement of Scorpio in the midst of Apple type reveals that lead way to releases shortly thereafter. Makes me think that the system will definitely release this year, and it'll be in close proximity if not the day of its reveal.

Regardless of when the game releases, history has already shown that Sony doesn't change their games after they are announced. What is released when Days Gone drops will look as good if not better than the initial reveal, with all features intact. I can't think of a single instance of downgrading in a Sony exclusive this gen, at least not to any kind of discernible degree.

I'm not sure about that, I would assume that the more lower level games & indies will share a release w/ Steam. Phil specifically mentioned wanting to work w/ Steam & that would allow smaller games a larger opportunity to shine, while the larger ones will stay exclusive to Win10 as a way to push that service.
I think there will be games like Cuphead, which MS is publishing if I'm not mistaken that will also release on Steam just as that game is.
