I didn't even put my finger on it until he mentioned it here but I absolutely get that vibe now. That's great that they used Old Man Logan as an inspiration, that's gotta be up there w/ the best Wolverine stories ever written.
Could that also mean we are going on a bit of a road trip through the 9 realms? What happens when we get to Hammer Falls?
Or maybe Hela? They did specifically allude in a recent interview to visiting at least some of the 9 realms.
That's the coolest thing about this game, we have just seen what is most likely the most tame & common realm of Midgard, there are 8 others out there with wildly different environments & inhabitants. Can't wait to see more of them...if they are going the trilogy route w/ this one, we may visit 3 per game?
@len
So you are saying the upgrade is entirely pointless then? I'm assuming that software gets a visual upgrade for the Scorpio that goes beyond a higher frame rate & resolution. Phil himself said that would be the case (after accidentally saying otherwise), so which one is it? If the Scorpio really is "The Most Power Console Ever" then we should be able to see that represented in some game play shouldn't we? Even if we are just seeing Scorpio versions...
Well as everyone else has pointed out, MS just happened to finally get around to pushing out stuff that's been announced for a long time, and in some cases, they pushed games even further into the ether during their conference.
SoT, Scalebound, Halo Wars, Crackdown.....all games w/ nebulous 2017 dates or firm dates that could easily slip, all games that have been announced for a very long time...it'll be 3 years by the time Crackdown launches if it makes a summer la...

"E3 is game centric? I was under the impression that hardware is typically announce at e3 and released in the fall. I guess since Sony decided to ignore the Neo during the event we can redefine E3 so Sony can "win""
Are you serious with that? May be the hardest movement of the posts I've ever seen on here.
Yes. E3 is "game centric"....not sure what E3 you've been watching for the past couple ...
Been following console gaming myself for a very long time...
You tell me King, when was the last time you saw a console launched w/ no form factor, no firm release date, no price & not a single frame of gameplay? I personally can't recall a single instance.
Sony could come out tomorrow with a special press conference for the Neo & give it all of those details the Scorpio announcement lacked, most importantly actual game play....it wouldn't...
Ok, if Sony has issues on launch day that would be very bad for sure...why is that a Sony centric problem though? Do you think that MS isn't just as likely to have their own issues at launch?
What you are describing is not a Sony centric potential problem, it's something any new console could fall victim to.
Difference is, Sony will only have to worry about creating solid experiences across PS4 & Neo, MS will have to deal with creating solid e...
Nah, first off, only MS have fully officially unveiled their console, Sony has only confirmed that they are working on something. The rumors are exactly that, regardless of whether or not people feel like Sony are too far along to change rumored specs.
Secondly, MS have been working to claim that the performance gains won't equate solely to res & fps boosts, but tech breakdowns & those same rumors have said the CPUs won't see much of a boost to actually chan...
If Sony markets Neo with a single game running on the hardware, they've already beat MS in terms of marketing. If they give a firm date & price, they destroy them in terms of marketing.
From what I've read in the Gaming Bolt write up (the only one I've seen trying to break down the consoles more than raw tflops), the difference between Scorpio & Neo will be roughly the same as the difference between PS4 & XBO, so it is hardly the blow out some people...
ok, not sure what 'damage' I'm controlling, but sure. This is a comments section meant to create discussion, trying to shut people down & just regurgitating a company's PR line can't really qualify as 'discourse'.
I mean your deflection game is down pat obviously, when you can't disprove something, just call someone a fanboy. Quality tactics.
So I take that to mean that MS has never mislead a single consumer & thei...
They still haven't fully clarified as to whether or not all games will play across all platforms.
First you had Shannon Studstill saying that they are "leaving it up to devs" as to whether or not there would be exclusive games. Then you had Spencer backtracking that statement & saying that all XBO games will play on Scorpio & also saying there will be "No Scorpio exclusives". Issue w/ that statement is that doesn't discount the possibilit...
Yeah, I think there will be pros & cons for both headsets really. I don't think there's a clear "winner" in terms of quality.
Oculus & Vive may have the potential for better experiences graphically & performance wise provided the user is willing to drop upwards of $1500 to play them, but from what we know so far, huge console games like Batman Arkham VR, Star Wars X Wing, Psychonauts & RE7 will be exclusive to the PSVR so far, and that'...
You realize that the average age for a gamer is around 37 right? Crazy statistic but it's true from what I understand.
Kids who grew up on Nintendos just never migrated away, or if they've did they've made their way back now with much more disposable income.
Sony still has games like Ratchet, Crash & Knack for the younger audience.
The quick shot of the ornate large door they were walking up to when they were attacked by the first giant was the thing that really showed me this would still be a GoW game. I don't think they are getting rid of those huge detailed environments & cool interiors in favor of a more wooded approach.
Does Norse mythology have any huge Titans? I sure hope so....can't wait to start seeing the articles pointing out Norse gods & deities likely to make an appearanc...
This is from cupheadgame.com, the official site
"Available 2016 on XBOX ONE & STEAM"
Isn't clear whether it'll be simultaneous, but I'd assume so, seeing as how the timed exclusivity period MS has been getting on PC is 90 days until it hits Steam.
"They are both doing similar things except for the fact that the Scorpio's specs are beastly"
Do we actually have even rumored access to Scorpio's specs? From what I've seen, the only number we know is 6 tflops & some hints at the architecture...do we know the CPU/GPU/RAM, anything aside from 6 tflops?
It'll be interesting to see how much performance difference those extra flops actually result in, it's ultimately down to...
Say what you will about Horizon's style, but everyone who has went hands on w/ the game has been raving about it. It has won best in show at E3 2 years running from most outlets, even w/ very stiff competition.
They are obviously 2 different games, but if we pit Horizon against Scalebound, I'm not sure Scalebound has an ounce of the buzz that Horizon does. Horizon seems to be impressing even the most ardent of fanboys from either side, and that is a tough feat to ac...
If you look at the bigger recent picture, it seems that Platinum's magic was only ever sporadic in the first place. Their last 2 games weren't very well received, Turtles was widely panned & Transformers didn't do much beyond its great art style...then look at games like Korra...granted these are all licensed titles but it kinda illustrates that Platinum isn't w/o its fair share of misses along w/ gems that hit like Vanquish & Bayonetta.
That may sug...
The issue is, MS & Steam have no benefit in working together...MS may see a benefit by grabbing some of Steam's impressive user base, but how would Steam benefit?
That's also a valid point as well, MS isn't stretching to PC to make gaming more open, because MS exclusives are still exactly that, they haven't been on Steam yet & from what I understand there is no plan for that, beyond maybe indies that absolutely need a larger market share to survive.
...
@krib
All Phil said was that "there will be no Scorpio exclusives"...doesn't negate the potential of the XBO being left out because it is all semantics.
If a game is available for Scorpio & PC but not the XBO, it still isn't technically a "Scorpio exclusive"
We already know how Phil operates, he likes to use questionable wording to insinuate one thing while leaving the door open for another. He also said ...
