Vague answer because they are going to be announcing something at Sony's E3 conference and don't want to spoil it.
If you subscribe to their newsletter, they make it a clear point that they are still working with those franchises.
They never left the PS3 in the first place. They still have close ties to Sony and will continue to release PS3 exclusives (Resistance and Ratchet) in addition to this multiplatform game that they announced today.
"We’re sure many of you are asking why we’re announcing this franchise now. And you’re probably wondering how this affects Ratchet & Clank and Resistance. We’re still very committed to these franchises, and our relationship with Sony Computer Entertainment is still strong. We have additional projects in development exclusively for PS3, and we’re excited to show you them in the future."
Sounds like this is a plus for everyone involved.
I have to disagree. I enjoyed Resistance 1 and 2 and will enjoy Resistance 3 when it comes out (it will definitely be announced at this E3). And you are wrong about Insomniac not sharing knowledge. They shared knowledge with not only Sony teams but just about everyone else.
Kind of obvious to begin with. Insomniac is making both multiplatform and PS3 exclusive games so I don't see why everyone is up in arms.
Actually they are doing both at the same time. Which is a plus for everyone involved.
Yeah, the second people see S-E and 360, it automatically equates to either "Fvck you Square" or "We get another exclusive, suck it". No one stops to think for a second that this news makes no sense at all, whatsoever. Breath of Fire compilation? Ha.
Yeah, I honestly doubt the credibility of the site. Valkyrie Profile is essentially a niche title in the West and only met with true success in Japan. That is why announcing such a title at a Western event is extremely unlikely.
You could say the reverse is true as well. Now that otherOS is being removed, those 360 fanboys are coming out of the woodwork to blast the decision and lament the removal of a "key" feature.
The truth of the matter is that between pissing off a small but vocal base of the ownership that uses Linux or running the risk of rampant piracy on their console, Sony would choose pissing off the small, but vocal fanbase.
That's interesting to say the least and completely unexpected on Square-Enix's part. Not to mention the fact that if the resolution is in fact lower on the 360, and it looks to be the case, how did Gamespot deem the 360 version sharper?
IGN has the same screens. These are the "actual" pics that Square wanted to release (bullsh!t as these look like rush captures).
The only ones who really care are fanboys who need more fanboy ammunition. Multiplatform owners have already decided one way or the other and single platform owners don't have a choice.
Wow, Square-Enix PR is sure sucking donkey balls. From releasing photoshopped 360 screens, to ash!tty marketing campaigns (next to nothing for Star Ocean International and Leona Lewis FFXIII commercials), to these horrible screen captures (seriously, NO ONE ON THE PR STAFF NOTICED THE MOUSE POINTER?!).
Lol. Unintentional is when you don't do something of your own free will. Square actually did the photoshop THEMSELVES and released it in their OWN press kit. I'd say it was intentional.
On a side note, this shouldn't have been approved in its current state. It didn't use the original title for one thing.
Then that doesn't make sense since the PS3 version is neither blurry nor jaggy; it runs 720p native and has 2x AA. How you can get much crisper than that on the 360, I don't know. Gamespot is kind of hoping for hits IMO.
Crisper image is a weird term to use. Is the image crisper due to contrast differences, gamma correction, television? Could it be due to the differences in AA solutions? Most likely. My time with the PS3 demo showed that the in game graphics were crisp; any crisper and it'll be raw.
I honestly don't know. "Crisper" image is definitely a subjective term to use, so I don't know why Gamespot used it. It obviously isn't a difference in resolution, PS3 version is 720p native after all, so I honestly don't know what constitutes a "crisper" image. Maybe due to the differences in AA solutions: 2x quincunx produces a slightly blurrier image I suppose.
Why? Sony fans still get the game and Insomniac has PS3 exclusive titles in production as well. Just as I'm sure that Bungie has 360 exclusive titles in production in addition to the multiplat Activision title.
