Technology tends to grow exponentially, rather than linear. And it's only going to keep skyrocketing at an unprecedented rate as time goes on.

@Drake

Honestly I would be fine with 1080p/1440p @30fps and have it look this good, than have a game using all of the GPU/CPU resources of the console just to run at 4k/60 and look like a current-gen game (or worse).

Quality over quantity. If a devs primary benchmark for "game improvement" is simply 4k resolution at 60 frames, then those games aren't going to look much better than what we already have (and other tech advancements will be s...

Days Gone with Unreal engine 4 is, IMO, easily one of the best looking (in top 5) games of this generation by far on console. It is crazy what Sony Bend was able to pull off with it on the PS4 Pro. Though admittingly if my PS4 had wings, It would probably fly away while playing Days Gone. As the fans go into super-hyper-jet mode 100% whenever I play. Had to place a vibration-absorbing pad under my PS4 (meant for large generators on rooftops), otherwise the whole second floor of the house woul...

Wow... this is insanely impressive 😲. Gave me goosebumps watching all the way through! And I think what this shows us more than anything is how much easier it is going to be for developers (big and small) to create amazing looking/running games for the next-gen consoles. This demonstrates not only how incredible a game can look on a next-gen console like the PS5, but also how many less steps devs need to take in order to make a game look/run this good. Very exciting stuff! I think gam...

Grab your PS4/Xbox controller and hold it. Now let your thumbs relax and sit wherever they would naturally. Notice where they are sitting?

If anybody needs to change the thumbstick position, it is Microsoft. They have had an incorrect ergonomic orientation on their controllers left thumbstick since day one. They just have been too stubborn to fix it since they don't want to be seeing as copying Sony and want to be "different".

I am certainly no fan of Gamestop, but all the outrage over stores not closing is ridiculous. This is basically cancel culture 2.0, brought to you by people with near fatal levels of Trump Derangement Syndrome.

It is interesting how thirsty some people are to have our economy crumble into a severe depression with unemployment rates potentially reaching 20% (which is very likely if we close everything down for months on end).

Even though I never visit the forums anymore, it was quite the regular staple for me back in the day. Heck my account is almost old enough to be a millennial (registered there in 2004). Back then is when they used Lithium for their forums, and it was a great place to hang out and just have fun. But for some reason they ditched Lithium and kept "upgrading" the forums. And each time it just got worse and worse and worse. A perfect example of fixing something that wasn't broken. ...

Gamepass is definitely a bold and risky move by MS. Right now there is no doubt that they are losing money hand over fist with the service. But that is the risk they are willing to take in order to have a chance at competing against Sony's exclusive catalog next-gen. MS is banking on the advantage of giving away tons of free games (including day 1 third-party game releases) as incentive for gamers to purchase their console, and I admit it is a pretty bold move and has the potential to wor...

With Obsidian now under Microsoft, this is probably going to be their last good game. Microsoft is basically a cemetery for developers. Obsidian's only hope is to make it into the "squad", ie the Forza-Halo-Gears group of games. If they can't make it into that pack they will be doomed, just like Rare.

As much as I would like to celebrate strong PS4 sales, realistically anybody who is on Xbox and didn't get the game via Gamepass is doing gaming wrong. I understand the people who prefer physical copies (I do as well), but when you can basically get the game for free on gamepass there is really no reason to buy a physical copy.

It would make sense down the road, when it becomes super cheap on the second hand market, and you want a physical copy to always have (so you do...

Unfortunately, this will likely be Obsidian's last good game if we are to look historically at studios acquired by MS. If Rare had been aligned with Sony, they could have easily been in the same league as Naughty Dog today (they basically already were the ND equivalent today, but in the SNES/N64 era). But nope, they got involved with MS and absolutely deteriorated into nothing.

Outer Worlds 2 is almost guaranteed to be an XB2 exclusive with the next-gen systems in 2020...

I was really looking forward to this game and had planned to buy on day 1. Now, I am buying used so the devs/publishers don't get a cent from me. Not a smart move snuffing the console with double the fanbase. This company is clearly riding the Microsoft D-Train, as it is inexcusable for not offering any enhancements for the Pro. It's a more powerful console compared to the base PS4, would be really easy to bump up a few graphical settings to make it run/look better. The fact they are ...

I never bothered with third-person on fallout or Skyrim, so this doesn't bother me at all. I popped my RPG cherry with the original Deus Ex, so FP view is often what I associate with these kinds of RPG's.

Gonna be weird in a few years when it will be controversial to have a male main character in movies and games. And bonus controversy if he is white and straight. It's almost already the counter-culture.

May seem like crazy talk, but that is exactly where things are headed. I feel really bad for this generations kids and grandkids, they are going to grow up in awful times. Whites will probably end up becoming slaves and straight kids will be bullied/tormented/abused at ...

KZ2 and Warhawk were the best PS online MP experiences for me. With Resistance 2 as an honorable mention.

Heck yeah! I was worried they weren't going to do this. I'll definitely be jumping in for another playthrough (already got the Platinum, but the game is just so dang fun). Perfect timing too, as I'll likely have finished up my Control playthrough by then.

As long as they aren't wasting resources and devs time on MP before release, this doesn't seem too concerning. But any assets they use for MP before the game launches, means that much less SP polish and focus.

"Cloak engaged".

Would love to see this series get a reboot though. I never played the first one but C2 surprised the heck out of me with how fun it was. One of my most memorable games of last gen.
