This guy makes a really good point. There were some over the top reactions about the whole gamespot mess but the vitriol directed at the company is amazing, seeing that no one really knows what's going,or went, on.
This guy is certifiably crazy. FF7 and 8 are a mess? Those were some of the best(better than 9) of the series. And FFX-2 is a pure piece of garbage yet it gets praise? What the hell is this guy talking about.
Simply put... This is ridiculous.
Yeah I agree with that. With HD-DVD players being $150-200 i'll probably pick one up to complement my PS3 so I can have the best of both worlds.
I don't use gametap since I have emulators on my PC but this is bad for the site though.
I think they made this merger to try and compete with EA(though I don't think it's possible).
Who's the dumb a$$ who said anything about the PSP overtaking the DS. They are different platforms aimed at different markets. I'm still amazed that the PSP sold so much, which is a feat by itself.
Couldn't agree more!!!
I don't know about this. Big mergers seldom work out. Something from one of the key franchises for both companies is going to be missing. Merging is not always a good thing...
I recall hearing many wise people say "Quality over Quantity". This basic principle is applicable for just about everything and video games are no different. Hell they might even be elevated considering the money that it costs to make these games.
Let Sony keep on selling well around the world. This is good news. I've been saying that all they need to do is turn a profit and survive this generation(after a big pitfall early on)and learn for the next round. With small victories like this, that's certainly possible.
I don't think the console sales will slow down much but it won't sell as much software as the PS3 or 360. Of course since it's so cheap, it doesn't have to. Nintendo has already made hundreds of millions of dollars on the Wii already and I don't think it will matter much to them whether A+++ games are made for Wii because they have their first party titles(which Mario Kart and Smash Bros which you mentioned are) which sell well regardless.
If these release on time then, like expected, 2008 will be a great year for the PS3.
I love all of this talk about how the PS3 needs to sell more than the 360 to keep pace. Lest we forget MS biggest game of the year came out already followed by their next smash hit(which is a great game by the way) while being out for 2 years. All the PS3 needs to do is sell enough consoles to turn a profit, which they will. The fact that they kept pace with MS while not having their console sellers out means something, so stop with the doomsday talk.

Since people like to talk about Halo being a system mover, MGS4 will have the same effect for the PS3. Not to mention FF13 which will also sell consoles. And 1 million for a trademark franchise around the world is very achievable. That being said these articles are really getting old and equally pointless. Nevermind the fact that it's only been out for a year. But somehow every "analyst" forgets this basic fact.
Winner in terms of what?Console sales yes but most gamers don't put the Wii in the same category as the PS3 and 360. That being said they will sell the most consoles but I don't think it'll mean much for the next generation though. Nobody will cater heavily to the casual game market as most casual gamers don't buy multiple games(which is where most of the money comes from for the companies, licensing). Great job being done by Nintendo.
No. It's too expensive(especially now) and I live in New York so I have little need for a car. That being said I do buy gas for my friend when we drive somewhere and 3.40 for a gallon is ridiculous, especially when Gas companies are posting multibillion dollar profits.
I know the Wii is in demand but I think Walmart is biting off more than they can chew and will pay for this. It's probable that someone will complain about price gouging which will hurt their well built reputation.
I'm normally against paying for a demo but since I love GT i'll probably get this to satisfy my racing itch.
