First FPS with 4 player co-op was Haze 'officially'. I'm still kinda on the fence with online co-op but it'll be a good addition I don't doubt that. It's just whether or not I'll enjoy it...
What's all this talk about compression being a good thing? Compression reduces the quality, and the more compressed it is the lower the quality will be. The use of compression is not a very strong defence for the DVD9 format at all. In fact, it just further justifies that a format with a larger capacity is better.
Compression shouldn't be needed, but for DVD9 it is. I don't have to compress files to fit on my laptop's HDD. Why? Because it's got loads of space. If I ran out of s...
Shadow that was awesome.
I agree. My top picks for possible PS3 GotY are Heavenly Sword, Haze and UT3.
I knew the amount of audio would be a lot because of the great language support for different countries (other than just the European big 5 that games usually support), but wow 10GB is a lot of audio, and yes I know it's uncompressed and so it should be!
...in the demo, so yeah he knows that there are loads of combos and that it's not just a hack'n'slash.
Those 200+ people each have a brain of their own. That's what's so good about the HS AI. Each enemy analyses as to whether or not they can strike yet if not they will defend, if you take out his friends he'll either attack in rage or retreat and turtle. Each of those 200+ enemies on-screen has their own AI going on at all times. That's what's so impressive.
Firing an arrow doesn't come under scripted AI lol. That's a different bit of scripting going on there. Scripted AI denotes what NPC's or enemy units will do when left alone or forced to fight etc
The AI in HS shines when you see the battles where there are 200+ enemies in the background all doing their own thing and are able to move forward and attack you at will. That's complex AI, and HS can be praised on having complex AI because of it.
Wow, well that guy sucked. He didn't make one counter in 5 minutes!
He'll get beat big time late on in the game. The devs said it themselves that just hacking and slashing without using the counters in this game results in you getting beat big time later in the game. Hack and slash will get you so far, but then you actually have to learn how to play the game to go any further. 'Learn' being a word that button mashers fear, it makes the brown stuff run faster than pulling off a ...
Whenever someone says 'Xbox' or '360' in a PS3 thread the 360 fanboys raid it shortly after.
Rather weird trip for this game. It's been everywhere a game could go in development (including being canned by rumour lol), I wanna see how it plays. Too many other good games coming out this year anyway so it won't be a purchase unless it absolutely blows me away.
Now guys on a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being the least likely) how likely is it that this game will suck? lol no 11/10's now...
Yeah Kai is awesome! The reason the guys are flying all over the place is because the arrows still have 'magical' pace on them. I'm guessing because you control projectiles with the sixaxis the arrow still has some pace to it when it hits so the guys get launched, which is awesome! I'm one for fun over realism anyday!
Guys go bang when Kai plays Twing Twang!
Enough rhymes guys? I gave ya 2 lol
I see more Bioshock posts on here than HS and "that's only a singleplayer 360 game" lol. Note the sarcasm in quotes..
HS is a damn good Singleplayer game thanks :D PS3 guys get their singleplayer fix, 360 guys get there's with Bioshock.
I just said it was worth a rental considering the lack of replayability. The game looks awesome but I would rent it if it came to PS3, not buy it. If it doesn't come to PS3 I won't be able to rent it will I so no worries.
Don't get me wrong, the game's story may be awesome but this can't be called the greatest FPS of all time if it lacks the now favoured aspect of FPS games... multiplayer.
Btw Epileptic Gaming is a video podcast made by gamers who have some form ...
Lair doesn't have multiplayer, just like Bioshock doesn't have multiplayer. 2 games focused on story. More of those games are welcome imo.
Ummm. Okay so I don't have a 360 but the guys over at EpilepticGaming have said themselves that Bioshock should be a rental not a purchase because it has no multiplayer and could be completed in a few days.
They also said (and showed) the small hack minigame used and it's a ripoff of the 20 year old Pipelines and also loads of other games since every hack game tends to revolve around joining the pipes from one side to another.
A purchase? No.
A rental? Yes...
Both the PS3 and 360 need to grab the attention of (and get sales from) the casual market to truly win this 'console war'. This thread is just as much about getting casuals into the consoles as it is getting people online on the consoles.
So here's the console war overview:
Wii:
Nintendo's recovery attempt after the Gamecube. Instead of trying to compete with MS and Sony for the hardcore gamers, Nintendo saw the opportunity to make their next console for t...
The PS3's wireless connection makes it a lot easier to go online if you have a wireless router. Less hassle appeals to the casual market, which is why the 360 has been crowned as a 'hardcore gamer's system' and will have trouble breaking out of the mould (Which it has to do to beat the other two over the next few years).
The PS3 is the follow-up to the best selling console of all time, even non-gamers know of the PlayStation name. Some casual non-gamers don't know what an Xbox ...
As us gamers here know our stuff (I assume everyone here knows how to get online lol) I'm sure it seems rather odd to some of you that some people don't know about XBLA (or PSN for that matter if they own a PS3 instead), but if you look at it from the point of view of a casual gamer, going online on a console may not be something they want to do, or know how to do. In my opinion, they're missing out. Whether it's PSN or XBL, they're missing some great games and great content.
This game is huge, I don't care for the EGM review anymore since they reviewed the earlier build (Which we won't be playing so it doesn't matter). I still have my reservations though about buying it on release, don't get me wrong I want to get it, I just don't know if I'll have enough cash to buy all the games I want this year (and early next year :P).
Great audio makes a great game in a sense, it helps provide an atmosphere. There's no doubt now that Lair will have a well-esta...
Okay guys this is it. This thread just sliced through fanboyism like a knife through butter.
I'm seriously starting to believe that the fanboys on this site do not actively think when they're typing. They don't listen to anyone other than those that agree with their opinion (Which equates to them being slightly narcissistic). It's insane how bad this fanboyism has got now, it's just plain pathetic actually.
Seriously guys, come on, how stupid are you if you can't...
