That's a solid plan for anyone willing to wait. The play time for me will more than likely be 6+ hours, what with getting 100% completion and every trophy. And to me, that's well worth the $30 I'll be paying for the digital version.
I think it's just Konami responding to the reaction from consumers about the steep price for, what a lot of people consider, a "demo." So to appease their customers they dropped the price by £10, which will potentially boost sales overall.
I don't understand how a lot of people consider the Arkham series stealth. Yes, there are some parts of the game in which using stealth is beneficial, but for the most part, Batman: Arkham Asylum/City/Origins is an action game with some stealth elements. The Arkham games are, for the most part, fantastic, but I would never label them in the genre of stealth.
Yeah, $55 dollars is pretty steep, even for 6-10 hours of game. I'm not planning on getting the PS4 retail version if it stays $40, but if it drops to $30 I'll definitely get it over the digital.
Is this the only region doing this? According to Amazon, here in America it's still $39.99 for the retail version on PS4 and Xbox One.

I also explained that we would still have to wait and see if the gameplay holds up. Which if it doesn't, would obviously drop the score considerably.
Many factors go into reviewing games, and I think that when the general consensus is mixed on a particular game, people should try the game...
I totally understand that. Reviews are meant to inform the consumer on whether or not a product is worth their money. The price of being a gamer isn't a cheap one, but when reviews are this mixed -- in the 70% range -- it's more a case of try it first. I have loads of games that have average Metacritic scores, but I would rate them far above that because they just appealed to my tastes.

Seriously. From what I've seen -- video previews, live streams, and written previews -- the game deserves at least a 7 based on production values alone. Whether or not the gameplay holds up is to be seen. With all of these mixed reviews, I'd advise people to play it for themselves to judge it.
People often take reviews as gospel nowadays. When I see the consensus on a game anywhere in the 70% range, I assume that it's a 'play it for yourself' sorta deal. Which is what I definitely plan on doing.
This is getting pretty mixed reviews so far, so I think that it'll either be a hit or miss with a lot of people. I hope I enjoy it, the only thing I've read that seems consistent is the long load times. Which is actually quite annoying; long load times is what sorta killed the new Sly Cooper game for me. I didn't really sense any "hype" for this game from the community. Personally, I am pretty excited for it, but I've always seen Thief as a pretty niche title. I've been waiting for KH3 since 2005... I understand that it's development started pretty recently, but I feel that anyone who played KH2 knew that a proper third installment had to be coming, just that none of us knew Square would take SO long to start it.
All in all though, you're right. I want them to make it amazing, because it has to live up to fans expectations after all this time.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution was one of my favorite games in 2012. I still go back and play it from time to time; I have the deepest confidence that Thief will be a great stealth game.

I'm not denying that the stealth that is present in the Arkham games is good, because it is. But the majority of the game is not stealth. I'd say that each one of them has about 30% stealth and 70% beat'em up.
Like I said, they're great games, I just wouldn't really label them as stealth.
