Agreed. But at the same token, what defines an RPG is pretty hard in itself to call out. Games, regardless of the genre, share so many similar elements that it's hard to truly give anything a specific type. I, personally, would think that an RPG has to have an epic story set in a world that isn't our own; a cast of characters we use to see that world in that gives us emotional attachments, and a menu-based strategic battle system - which is what usually clearly distinguishes RPGs from...
You're obviously misinformed if you're thinking we write our articles for a standing ovation. Apparently, you don't seem to understand the fact that the reason for these articles is to promote a healthy debate and conversation regarding gaming that stands outside the consistent advocacy of the same tiring topics that seemed to have become the norm in the apparent antic that has become "games journalism."
We write our articles and editorials to provide a...
And that's the sad thing. There is so much that people can write about when pertaining to gaming. It just doesn't have to be the regurgitated "Top 10 Games of X," "Why Console A is Better Than Console B," or "Graphics Comparisons." When people make their writing personal, I feel it adds much more feeling and depth to editorials/articles. I love to read gaming news, but at the same token, I also would like to see someone's perception on how gaming impa...
I actually coughed up the $60 for this game. It seemed good at first until I actually took notice of the game's visuals, clunky controls, and disgusting gameplay. I remember Eidos actually promoting this game as if it were the most amazing thing since HPV shots.
Personally, I might give this game shot just to see whether or not it redeems itself. A couple of people have said positive things about it during E3 - so I might just rent this and pray for the best. I've le...
I'm glad to see that we made it as far as a year. I sincerely hope that NYC gamers (or those close to NYC) will come and celebrate with us. One thing us DualShockers guys know how to do aside from gaming is party :D Hope to see some of you local N4G'ers there.
I think this decision is really going to come back to bite blizzard in the butt. I play WoW on occasion, and the one thing that I wouldn't like to see is to have my real name posted throughout the forums if I decide to comment on something - it takes away from the anonymity. Why not just have people's character's use their names as well?
I'm pretty sure that people want to keep their personal information just that - personal. No one should have to share their ...
Pretty funny that you keep on linking your post over and over as it's supposed to be some sort of holy grail of opinions.
Yes, DICE did make the multiplayer for Bad Company 2 and MOH. But how one interprets the game is all a matter of personal opinion. Some people might like BC2 over MOH and vise versa, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the game sucks because it didn't meet the requirements that you were expecting. Again, it's a beta. And even though both...
You're telling people not to buy a game that isn't fully completed yet, and not stating specific reasons as to why the game is "lame" and "boring," in your opinion.
I've played the game at an EA event and I enjoyed it immensely. Sure, it did have its share of problems due to the fact that it was a *beta*, but it didn't mean that its strengths and potentials didn't shine whilst playing the game.
The same folks who made t...
It's one of those games that hasn't really been over the radar in terms of exposure because not much was said about it. But it is a game that definitely looks to be amazing. October needs to hurry and get here. One, I hate the summer and 2) It's a game I'm waiting for this Fall.
I think so too. The game looks pretty good, let's just hope that it isn't just all looks.
I'm pretty sure that Review Scores play a big role in the decision making of people buying games. It's one of the tools used today by many gamers to finalize their decision of whether game X is worthy of purchase.
Not to say that it goes with EVERY gamer (as I tend to play a game first, THEN read a review to see if the writer shared equal thoughts), as many tend to go for a game more by taste at times.
Sucks to see that this game did so bad when so many people were expecting it to be great. An unfinished product never does well.
Red and black didn't work well for me on a constant basis. I needed color.
As did I.
Well said. Some folks don't bother reading or hearing us out simply because they *believe* we're biased because of our name, which has absolutely nothing to do with allegiance to a console. Some people just can't see past a name and look toward the content. In this sense, they're hypocritically one-dimensional with how they perceive consoles (aka fanboys).
I really hate even wasting my time pointing things like this out. It would be awesome if, for once, a di...
I personally feel that Nintendo took the show. They brought forward all their classic franchises (Zelda, Metroid, Kerby, Donkey Kong) *and* a new handheld, which we were expecting. I think, even for the hardcore, they pretty much appealed to all plateaus of gamers.
I hope it's better than the first one. Ugh, it was dreadful.
Kaz is definitely a cool guy. I mean, the guy has a cool name, for crying out loud. "Kaz Hirai." Sounds like a badass Ninja.
I'm really trying to figure out why the hell Cloud and the rest of them didn't give her an X-Potion or a Phoenix Down (which is supposed to revive a fallen character). Then again, she was stabbed in the back and killed, not punched in the face and left unconscious. Poor Aeris indeed. The song made the damn thing worse; I actually screamed when this happened.
