the models and textures are far better than those of Killzone 2. killzone 2 had horribly low-res textures hidden behind a grain filter and excessive amounts of motion blur and fancy lighting. the character models were also very low-polygon.
Reach doesnt need 2 discs.
each of the multiplayer levels is in the single player campaign, meaning no extra room is needed for multiplayer maps.
ODST was not on 2 discs because of space. it was on 2 discs because if it was only on one, it couldnt have included Halo 3s multiplayer because you CANNOT play 2 different games with each other online, meaning ODST players could only play online against other ODST players, not Halo 3 players. by including Halo 3s multiplay...
wow this topic is like a whos who of sony fanboys, all butt-slapping and high fiving each other hahahaha.
someone posts a comment like 'Uncharted 2 roolz!!!' and gets like 50 agrees and no disagrees lol.
IMO no, multiplatform gaming isnt holding anyone back. what does hold games back are time restrictions given for release dates. if every game had 5 years to be made theyd all look incredible and be better. but the reality is that not many companies can go 5 years wit...
lets be honest - the hardcore halo fans are the ones that made Halo 3 sell over 11 million copies, not just regular joe-blow-average-gamer. they probably account for 10% of its sales. people that like halo know that Bungie are the ones who make Halo, and if Bungie jumped back into the Halo ring in 10 years time, those people wouldnt have just forgotten who Bungie are. they would go absolutely gangbusters over a new Bungie developed Halo game.
and to even suggest that Halo could ...
@fear88,
you must be one of those people that said (and have been saying for the last 3-4 years now lol) that the wii is a 'fad' and will quickly die out lol.
the wii is here to stay, and it shows that with constantly outselling the PS3 and 360. its got an unassailable lead in hardware sales worldwide, and is the clear winner of this generation overall.
on natal, i still get a laugh how every time some random website releases a Natal video and article, ...
"Lair renders 2x800x1080 interleaved to 1600x1080 @ 60fps and then scaled to full 1920x1080 and one if not the highest polygon throughput today. They up to 170M olygons per sec with that game. "
and the game sure suffered because of that resolution, never being able to maintain that 60fps for more than a few seconds, and rarely able to keep the screen from tearing.
Lair is the perfect example of a game that should have been made in a lower resolution to imp...
lets not use that as a point to criticize microsoft on, or as a reason why there have been more sub-720p games lately though. remember, Sony never even had a minimum resolution, meaning companies were always allowed to release sub-720p gams (ala ghostbusters, tekken, gta IV, MGS4, ratchet and clank, etc).
the 720p minimum was never something that microsoft enforced anyway, since as far back as first batch of games there were sub-720p ones.
lol
i bet hes going by the sony-coined and oft-spouted term 'True HD', that they call 1080p. there is no such thing as 'True HD' in terms of resolution, its just something that sony made up and use to sell more TVs. think about it, by having your product next to another HD tv that only has a sign saying 'HD', whereas yours says 'True HD', people with very little in between their ears will think 'well if this ones true HD, the one that only says HD mustnt be as good', and will bu...
ok ill explain again - for Uncharted, and i never mentioned uncharted 2 originally either, i was not talking about water or how it interacts. i was only talking about how the game looked better in screenshots because screenshots arent affected by framerate, screen-tearing, and to a lesser degree aliasing (depending on how touched up the screenshots are, andNaughty Dog are well known to add large amounts of AA to official screenshots in order to make them look better).
wasnt talk...
@raztad,
who said i dont have a gaming PC? i certainly didnt......you mustve come up with that yourself lol. im a gamer, not a fanboy. i buy every console, and upgrade my PC whenever theres a game i cant play.
God of War 3 has aliasing. fact. yes, it has anti-aliasing, but its not 100% effective. is it good anti-aliasing? damn straight it is. is it perfect? no. but people on here are saying that it has NO aliasing, and that is just not true. honestly, i swear half th...
i also do find it hilarious when all these people laugh at/complain about a game being sub-720p, but rushed out to buy a 1080p tv, and in turn subject EVERY SINGLE GAME they play to forced upscaling lol.
the jump from 540p to 720p is a LOT smaller than the jump from 720p to their tvs native 1080p. its like they tell everyone that they want the games to be 720p so it can look the best, but then they take that image and force it to fit on a tv that makes it look worse lol.
theres a comment on the Alan Wake forums that is the best post i have seen for a very long time, and everyone needs to think about it:
"It seems that many people have forgotten why we play games.."
it is so, so true. how many of you guys on here claim to have cancelled pre-orders or decided not to buy a game purely because it might not be 720p resolution? resolution doesnt really have much effect on how good a game looks. and lets be honest - if these pixel...
remember how Sony said that the PS3 would be able to output DUAL 1080p displays, and run all games at 200fps in 1080p?
if theres ever been a company telling lies about how powerful their console is, its sony - not microsoft.
i know its not 100% the same, but Forza 3 supports 3 monitors for an awesome game experience. the downside is you need 3 xboxs and 3 copies of the game too lol.
the 360s GPU is better than the PS3s. this is not debatable. you will not find an article by a credible source saying otherwise, because its simply not true.
with the memory of these consoles, speed is not the deciding performance factor. do a bit of reading on the bottlenecks that the bus speed of the PS3 creates and youll see why the 360s lower speed RAM actually performs better in general.
the AA in God of War 3 is very good, no doubt, but there is still lots of noticeable aliasing. the method of AA they used works wonders for still images, but not as well in motion.
just makes you wonder, if sony hadve give the PS3 a better GPU, imagine what they couldve done with all the extra CPU power they have to use on AA?
i dont think you understood my post correctly RE: god of war 3.
i know the game looks amazing in both motion and screenshots - most of the time its the best looking console game to date. what i was talking about in god of war 3 was the water, specifically when you fall into the river styxx. go back and play the game again (not that i should have to give you another reason to, im already on my 3rd play through) and get to the water when you first go to hell and lose all your life/...
im not seeing your point? i prefer the game with tonnes of enemies on screen as thats how it was originally intended to be. have you ever thought why they dropped the resolution on the 360? because to get it running with the amount of enemies they wanted it wouldnt work in 720p.
then for the PS3 they do it in 720p, and surprise surprise, it doesnt have anywhere near the action it did on the 360.
i prefer the harder version with more enemies over the one that looks pr...
lol
no, its not a lie at all. have you even seen both games next to each other? here, ill provide you with a few comparison pictures to show the difference in number of enemies on screen at once.

oh wow, great rebuttal......
