you do realise that pretty much every console thats ever been released has 'only' had a 12 month warranty, dont you? PS? 12 months. PS2? 12 months. PS3? 12 months, and so on. the 360 only had the 3 year warranty added on to cover the RROD - its not standard practice.
RROD has been fixed for well over 18 months now..... of course the new consoles not going to have the RROD problem when the model its replacing doesnt have it to begin with.
bingo, great post EVILDEAD360.
lets not forget that so called 'hardcore gamers' are the MINORITY, not the majority. the Wii is generally scoffed at by people who refer to themselves as hardcore gamers, yet its the console thats sold 70+ million consoles, not the 'hardcore' consoles.
Kinect is trying to capture the casual market, and from what we've seen i think it will do very well at it. the casual market is HUGE, and mostly untapped. why...
I swear, most of you guys don't even read the article before you comment. The Official guitar is literally a 6 string electric guitar. The 3rd party one
made by madcatz is 17 frets with 6 buttons per fret. So playing the game in pro mode with the official guitar will basically be playing the song on a real electric guitar. Of course if you just play on easy-expert it will just be like RB1-2, but pro mode is a whole other beast.
Please, read before you post.
@sak500: THEY didnt lie about 1080p - Sony lied about 1080p. they were the ones that said all the PS3 games would be in 1080p running at 60fps. actually, they even went so far as to say they would be running in dual 1080p at 200fps.
microsoft on the other hand only ever said 720p. they then added 1080p through a patch BEFORE the PS3 had even been released, but didnt say anything about all games being in native 1080p.
'Full HD' is a Sony-coined term t...
agree about the "less scenes that envolve Nathan falling and barely grasping a stable platform.". seemed like it happened in every second cutscene, which was every 5 minutes in the game.
lol basically you just said that no, the PS3 isnt future proofed.....but it still is cause sony tell me it is.
and no, the PS3s processor cant reach speeds 'far greater' than 4ghz - the Cell processor is a 3.2ghz processor lol. do some research before you open your e-mouth.
sony lost bragging rights, because now they cant claim insomniac as one of their exclusive developers.
and as such, sony fanboys will be crying themselves to sleep, while putting on a brave 'who cares' face on here.
@Socrates: completely agree, and you are correct.
the final version of Killzone 2 looks good and all, but NOTHING in it looks as good as or better than that 'target render' (which btw they only called it a target render after theyd been caught out telling porkies).
they did say it was in-game, then after many sites did in-depth analysis' of it and experts all agreed it was fake, then and only then did sony come out and say 'lol sorry guys it w...
Microsoft dont care about who created blu-ray. remember, Blu-Ray uses Microsofts codec VC1 - by your own logic, wouldnt sony not want to use it then?
if blu-ray is the most affordable and common disc based media when the new xbox comes out, and the xbox uses physical disc media, then it will use blu-ray.
"Blu-ray is NOT the biggest draw when people buy the PS3.
Can you stop spouting that drivel?"
Blu-Ray still is the biggest draw, like it or not. there was a BIG survey posted on here recently that showed that something like 40% of responders listed blu-ray as the main reason for purchase or thinking of purchasing (against something like 20% for playing games).
"Also, how dare you pass off the biggest consumer electronics relia...
the 360 has firmware upgrades too, and any firmware upgrade that the PS3 can do the 360 can basically do and vice versa. firmware is software, and both consoles are on virtually even footing power wise.
these consoles have the ability to stay RELEVANT in the NEAR future, but not competitive once the next gen comes out.
technology with non-upgradeable hardware can NEVER be future proof. and no, having an upgradable HDD does not count.
the PS3 is not future proof. if a game requires a 4ghz processor, can the PS3 play it? no. if a game requires 1gb of RAM can the PS3 play it? no. if a game requires a directx 11 video card, can the PS3 play it? no.
it CANNOT be improved to keep up with new technology in the future, meaning its NOT future-proofed.
the same goes...
"They upped the ante with bringing true pixar movie graphics with their second ps3 game"
you mean the one that was in sub-HD? the one that was 960x704? i never knew Pixar movies were made in such a low resolution?
Insomniac are no where near the best or most influential developer in the industry. theyre 'good', but none of their games are 'great'. the fact that they churn a new ratchet out every year like clockwork is testament to th...
and whatever it is, its not going to sell well on the PS3 by that logic.
360 games sell more copies. thats just how it is.
Correction - this is the START of them making multiplatform games. they said they work on a game by game basis, and you can be damn sure that every game they make from now on on that ISNT ratchet/resistance will be multiplatform.
its NOT just going to be a single game on 360 then back to Playstations exclusively.
eh, i dont buy Insomniac games on my PS3 so im probably not going to buy them on my 360.
@raztad: "I dont see any jaggies. MLAA confirmed."
no, the only thing it confirms is these are supersampled "screenshots". its the same engine as Killzone 2 - 720p, 30fps, Quincunx AA.
yep, thats all i have to say because theyre not in-game screens.
from what ive read its just, in a way that sony fanboys would describe a new Halo or Gears, "Killzone 2.5". throwing up some super high resolution then downscaled 'screens' doesnt excite me.
the thing youre forgetting is that the PS3 cant even do a single image in 1080p for anything other than the most basic game, so its DEFINITELY not doing 1080p 3D.
as we've already seen with anything other than arcade games like SSHD, the resolutions of the games drop a LOT when done in 3D.
