realistically, the only company who has 'lost' is Sony.
Sony had all the market share, a tonne of profit, and all the exclusive 3rd party games. they lost all of that within 12 months.
Microsoft gained market share, made up for all the xboxs losses, and gained pretty much all the previously PS2 exclusive 3rd party games.
Nintendo just got to load warehouses full of money because of the wii.
having said that, the gener...
most publications will be a mix of Super Mario Galaxy 2, Red Dead Redemption, Halo: Reach, and Mass Effect 2 IMO.
as big as GT5 will be, its still just a racing game, and not a very accessible to the average joe blow one at that. it will not win game of the year from major publications because of that fact.
Game of the year for me is still Alan Wake so far though, closely followed by Limbo.
exactly - you cant win when there are sony fanboys flooding the comments section.
how many people have whinged and wanted the PS3s 'triggers' redesigned? basically everyone since before the PS3 was even released. have sony listened? no. microsoft actually did listen to their customers complaints, and now people bag them for it? geez, way to make Microsoft listen to the consumers in the future.....
the dpad is in the same position. what it has is the ability to 'twist' the current dpad, and that makes the 'disc' part behind the + get pushed back into the controller (or raise up the +, cant really see well from the vid), now making it so your finger is only on the actual +, not a big disc with + mouldings on it.
and that will make pressing individual up/down/left/right direction much easier.
looks great, ill buy one the day they come out. which in australia will probably be Christmas 2012 lol.
the Dpad is the ONLY thing not perfect about the 360 controller IMO, so now thats all fixed up its perfect. not that i use the dpad too often anyway, but hey, if i can afford it why not?
and can people stop saying they should just use the dpad design that sony or nintendo do? you know why they didnt just use that design to begin with? BECAUSE THEYRE PATENTE...
in future itd be best that you dont comment on things that you havent even had the decency to look at then, wouldnt you think?
how is the platforming top notch?
the platforming is a simple game of connect the dots. theres never more than one way to go, and you can barely put a foot wrong while traversing a wall/ledge/building etc. if when you get to the end of a ledge, nate puts his arm out to grab on to something, it means you jump that way and automatically make the jump. if he doesnt, you cant go that way.
its basically 'gaming for dummies'.
and the story...
oh it doesnt? really?
http://www.justpushstart.co...
so that right there *doesnt* say "*Auto renews at regular monthly price"?
did you even look at the picture?
if people dont know that theyre signing up for regular prices after the first month, thats their own stupid fault. it CLEARLY states it on the $1 for one month thing that you have to click on to buy it.
Uncharted without a doubt.
its a decent game, but its just a cookie cutter third person adventure game that only gets all the love because its PS3 exclusive.
@BrianG:
"Well, you can stream a heck of a lot more content to your PS3, seeing as how it supports more file formats than the Xbox 360. "
not in reality it doesnt. more of my 1000+ video files on my PC stream to my 360 without errors than to my PS3. there are some that wont work on 360, so i watch them on the PS3, but more that dont work on the PS3 yet do on the 360.
"That is unfortunate, but not a big deal when a BUILT IN hard...
@OneSneakyMofo:
well it wasnt just money. firstly, working with microsoft wouldve been a HUGE boost to them. secondly, what mac exclusive games of the last 15 years have ever been critically and financially successful, or pushed boundaries? i cant think of any.
thirdly, user base. like 1% of computer using people own a mac computer. they actually want people to play their games.
dont EVER try and say that bungie only care about money.
these are the guys that as soon as they release a new map pack, they make the previous map packs completely free.
Forge and Forge World are far too technically different to just 'patch in' the changes. remember that theyre not even running on the same engine.
@pippoppow: "BEWARE: DO NOT MOVE THE 360s WHEN IT IS ON. IT MOST LIKELY WILL DAMAGE THE GAME. Paraphrasing warning label on 360s box."
you do realise that the exact same warning is in the Playstation 3s user manual, dont you?
i love how sony fanboys still play the HDD card when comparing consoles. what youre not seeing is that 360s dont NEED big HDDs. you cant store all your tv shows/movies that you download on your PC on the 360 like people do on ...
well unless Naughty Dog created the best anti-aliasing that the entire technology world has EVER seen, used it for pre-release builds of the game, released some screen shots, then removed it before the final release, theyre bullshots. not a single bit of aliasing in a single screenshot. also the texture resolutions in them are MUCH higher than when you get to the same spot in the game and look at them.
its also interesting because ND themselves say the game uses 2xMSAA, yet n...
very good decision by the developers of this game.
this pretty much just means itll be like the PS3 version in that you do a one-off install at the start, then you just play to your hearts content.
hopefully any other games that need 2 discs - so the 1-2 games every year at very most - do this same thing.
wow, watching the Move + Killzone 3 video is laughable, it takes all the skill out of the game. simply move the pointer over an enemy, press a button, and it has 'zoom lock' - it aims down the sights and automatically locks on to the target, even when they move! lol
so much for Move being 'hardcore'
" Proven by the fact that more people are on PSN then on XBL."
no - there are more ACCOUNTS on PSN than XBL, but not more unique poeple.
ive got 15+ PSN accounts and only 1 Live account. why? because PSN accounts are free and you can sign up for as many as you want and can play online with them. so sony count me as 15+ people, but im really only 1 person. microsoft count me as 1.
and remember, you dont even NEED a PS3 to have a PSN ...
well pretty much all of the Sony/ND released shots of Uncharted 2 were actually bullshots, and proven to be so, so your opinion on the matter doesnt really mean much.
"True HD" and "Full HD" are just marketing terms invented by TV companies like Sony to sell TVs. there is no such thing as 'full HD' in technical terms, nor 'true HD'. its either HD, or its not.
