@raztad: "Vanquish on PS3 is, no doubts, the version to get if you are a multiplat owner."
well thats not true. i prefer a bit of screen tearing - which from the video only really happens with explosions on screen - while maintaining a higher framerate AND noticably more responsive controls over no screen tearing but with less responsive controls.
i prefer the version that plays better with a bit of not-very-noticeable screen tearing, not the versio...
@catch:
its clear that you also know nothing about ports.
multiplatform games this generation, apart from games like Bioshock, FFXIII, and now Mass Effect 2, have NOT been ports. a port is when they take a FINISHED version of a game on one platform and then convert it to work on another platform.
what developers do is they have 2 teams, one who works on each platform AT THE SAME TIME. they will share code, in-game assetts, and ideas etc. they...
i agree, and have said as much in the past.
Killzone uses 'distractions' to make it look FAR better than it actually is. motion blur out the wahzoo every time you move. lens flares and bloom on all lighting, all the time, even though its physically impossible for those lens flares to be seen like that by our eyes.
it all combines to make it look flashy, but once you stop and actually look at texture detail, polygon models, etc, they all look noticeabl...
you guys all seem to be missing the part of the article that says that the PS3 will NOT be able to play these larger capacity disks lol.
remember, sony announced like 6 months ago that the new ~100gb discs that got announced would NOT work on PS3s, and never will. if they cant, why do you think that 200/300/400gb ones would?
50gb blu-rays are the maximum the PS3 will probably ever play, and even that much room is not needed for games unless you just make it a...
if i have to wait more than 1-2 minutes for matchmaking to find me a game, i quit and play another game. doesnt matter what game it is, im not wasting my time waiting to play a game when i have dozens of other games that dont require me to wait.
this is why games like Halo and COD are so popular. you NEVER have to wait to play. you click find match, it finds you a match in 15-20 seconds most times. this keeps people playing, which in turn makes the time spent finding matches...
"We also wanted to increase our use of pre-simulated physics so if we had a major destruction effect like a building collapsing, we’d pre-simulate all that in Maya, bake all that animation down, and then run that through the game engine. So you’d have real-time control of the player, but the building collapsing is a pre-simulated event."
funny, cause when i said all that stuff was pre-scripted back when the game came out id get 50+ disagrees within hours from the PS...
it cant be done, at least not without taking years and years to sort through all the red tape.
different regions have different classification systems (australias for instance is absolutely $hit), and sometimes different companies own the rights to IPs in different countries.
i mean, in australia here we dont even have XNA games yet! nor do we have access to the Rock Band Network on XBL, which really sucks. it took us over 12 months to get 1989 TMNT Arcade b...
wow, you really have no idea do you lol.
blu-ray isnt an 'actual hd format'. ANY physical media is capable of storing HD data - its just a matter of how much HD data it can hold.
HD video and HD resolutions for games are 2 completely different things, dont get them confused. HD video takes up a metric $hit-tonne of space, but games being in HD dont.
the reason its in <720p is obviously performance reasons. the same reason why MGS4 ...
yeah im not sure what they mean either. from the very first time they showed the jetpack it was in first person view......?
so you didnt hear the complaints that IGN gave in this very article that youre commenting on?
thats weird to say the least......
im sure it WOULD add something different. the problem is that 'different' isnt better in this case.
on a console im talking about perfect controls, obviously.
mouse + keyboard doesnt work for consoles, as people generally play from their lounge, and theyre not the standard controller like they are on PCs. if youve got a PC, youve got a keyboard and mouse. likewise if youve got a HD console, youve got a dual analogue controller.
IGN have had the Move for at least a week, going on 2 iirc. every day last week they had a 'Move: Day 1', 'Move: Day 2&...
ill play it, just like like i played GT1-4 to >85% completion in each and every one of them.
but hot damn GT5 is just looking worse and worse with every new piece of info they release. there were a few screenshots over on GTPlanet of a few of the 'standard' cars going round a track, and boy oh boy do they look bad. blocky side mirrors, no defined body panels, blocky textures, etc etc.
i think ill be sticking to the 200 premium models, which is a sh...
it doesnt matter that they were both announced at the same time - how long was it before we actually saw IN-GAME GAMEPLAY of Killzone 2?
E3 2005? no, that was FMV.
E3 2006? nope.
the first in-game footage was shown at E3 in 2007. Gear of War released November 2006.
so how can you say that Killzone 2 was shown as girtty and with an emphasis on online play, when up until 2007 - roughly 8 months after we were all PLAYING gears of war - noone h...
yeah the problem is called 'being a human'. just sit there holding your arm out in front of you for say 2 minutes, and then tell me that it doesnt get tired. good luck with that.
if you use Move like you would a dualshock - so probably holding it down around your lap with your arms resting on something - then you will not get a great enough range of movement and control with the Move controller. itd be like going from playing all of your games on low sensitivity for a...
remember, those bookends are just cardboard though. its akin to giving you a few postcards.
the plush sackboy is good though, i agree. i recently found one (a plush sack boy) at my local comic book shop for $20! its the 10" one, and it looks fantastic.
i preordered the legendary edition of reach, and thats what i call a good collectors edition. its actually limited in numbers, and it is 100% relevant to the game.
the best Collectors Edi...
anyone that thought that using Move for First Person Shooters or Third Person Shooters would make it MORE accurate and easy to control were kidding themselves to begin with.
firstly theres the fact that you have to aim your hand at what you want to shoot/look at. that adds a delay to your actions, and also it adds inaccuracy.
secondly theres the fact that whenever you hold your arm out in front of you holding a controller for more than a few seconds, your ar...
like ReservoirDog316 says, Killzone 2 came what, 2 years after Gears of War? Gears of War really defined what a 'next-gen' game is, and how online play should be done.
Killzone 2 came along 2 years later and didnt redefine anything, it just took what other games have done and implemented them. you dont say that God of War 2 re-defined what could be done on the PS2, you say that God of War 1 did, because god of war 2 just built upon 1.
i love how i ha...
Uncharted 2 defines part of this generation, for sure - but not a good part: overhyping, bullshots, graphics and presentation over gameplay, and fanboys.
the others, well i wouldnt really say they define the genre. id say games like Halo 3, Gears of War and Modern Warfare defined this generation. its all about shooters, 'gritty' graphics, and a huge focus on online play. Reach will do what Halo 3 did, but far better - but Halo 3 is the one that kickstarted it all this...
lol check out the vid at 6:40 - 200km/h to 0km/h within 5m of hitting the grass.......great physics there, so realistic!
also, this confirms yet again that the 'track editor' is little more than choosing a few options and it puts together some jigsaw puzzle pieces and makes a track for you.
and no cockpit view for 80% of the cars in the game? epic fail right there.
also when asked if theres a livery editor included? "probably no...
@theone26:
no, MLAA has NOT been confirmed. if it has been confirmed by Guerilla games, please provide the link. i know the DF article youre talking about, and they say that MLAA MAY be being used based on the screenshots given by Sony/GG. screenshots that Sony are well known to supersample TO ELIMINATE ALIASING, which makes determining what AA it has 100% impossible. the 360 can EASILY do post-processing effects like that BTW. Alan wake has 70 - yes you read that correctly, ...
