gears was in development long before uncharted lol.
remember, epic made MS put more RAM in the 360 because they needed it for gears - so thats obviously before even 2005. uncharted wouldnt have even been thought of then.
you think that Uncharted refined and improved on Gears of Wars cover system? Uncharteds cover system is a clunky mess compared to the first gears of wars, let alone the seconds. even Uncharted 2s cover system is poor compared to gears of wars.
the 360 controller is much more ergonomic than the PS3 controller. remember, the PS3 controller is a 15 year old controller with 2 analogue sticks chucked on it. it was never designed to have the analogue sticks, and it fails ergonomically because of this fact.
1. MGS4 is not 1080p. playing it in 1080p is the same as playing any of the entire 360s library in 1080p - its upscaled.
2. if a game is 720p natively on the PS3, its 720p on the 360 natively too. youll actually often find that the 360 version is 720p while the PS3 version isnt, like Tekken 6 and Grand Theft Auto 4. Tekken is actually only standard definition on the PS3, and GTA4 was only ~640p on the PS3. both were 720p on the 360.
further to what Xi said, call me when Killzone 2 doesnt have 200ms of Input Lag. there is literally no easier way to ruin a game than to make a noticeable delay between pressing the button and the action happening on screen.
Metal Gear Solid 4, last time they announced figures, was at 4.75 million and not getting any higher in a hurry.
Gears of War, at the same time, was already over 5 million copies sold.
Before Gears of War 2 was released in 2008, Microsoft said the following:
"Each holiday season in this current console generation, Xbox 360 has led the industry with the best lineup of blockbuster video games, and we are poised to lead the charge again in 2008 with Ge...
the ONLY developers youll see saying things like 'this game can only run on the PS3' are developers owned by Sony. it means nothing. its just PR speak from Sony desperately trying to convince everyone that theyre still the kings, when clearly theyre not.
where are you getting your overall processing figures from? i know that sony include the PPUs 'performance' in their released figures, even though all the PPU does is tell the SPUs what to do, rendering any processing power it ha...
youre forgetting that Halo 3 was the first Halo on the new console, and that Bungie went absolutely ape-$hit crazy with the community features and online - thats where the majority of the development time and resources most likely went, and it certainly paid off.
to this day, Halo 3s online has not been bested by ANY game. the Forge mode, the Theater mode, the 4 player split screen online gameplay, the 4 player co-op, the matchmaking, the community features (like screenshot/game...
well i have played the academy, as i downloaded it on my ps3 the night it got released. but hey, whatever helps you sleep at night.
the physics are not superb. the 370z does not handle at all realistically. if nissan were going to release a car that handled like that they would scrap it the second the first person took it for a test drive lol.
the physics may be well ahead of Prologue, but thats like saying that its graphics are well ahead of Virtua Racing on the 32x...
its clearly you who has no idea buddy.
go here: http://www.bungie.net/Insid...
and download the 'Lighting and Material of HALO 3' package and have a read of all the technology behind Halo 3s lighting. it clearly proves you wrong.
you completely missed the point with the GT4HD comment. yes, GT5 looks visually impressive, and will be one of the best looking games around. but that seems to be basically where the improvements stop - the graphics.
its been the same since GT2 - all they do is add/remove cars, add/remove tracks, make the graphics better, and thats about it. GT5 is looking no different.
and yes, i did have the time trial demo and quite frankly it was very unrealistic. having driven ...
I'm not a fanboy, i couldnt give 2 $hits about what game is on what console. all i care about is the game.
Forza 3 stepped it up a notch. GT5 just looks like typical polyphony - coasting along on the success of GT1. more cars, better graphics, not much else.
Nope, ive got both consoles and appreciate both for what they are and what they can do.
Halo Reach has real-time lighting, same sort as Killzone 2 and most other games these days. you know, just like how there already was dynamic lighting in Halo 3 lol.
you guys do realise that Killzone 2 wasnt the first game to do dynamic lighting, dont you? doesnt look like you do.
sigh
the cell isnt some magical processor with infinite power. IBM made both the cpus for the PS3 and the 360 and even they admit that theyre both basically on equal footing.
blu-ray means nothing for video games unless you just load the game up with FMV, Final Fantasy style. some of the best looking and biggest games barely even take up half a regular DVD.
the 360 has a better GPU. this fact alone pretty much makes any arguments the PS3 fanboys have abou...
@Raf1k1: " Metro 2033 and Alan Wake aren't likely to sell at blockbuster level due to being new IPs and Splinter Cell should do well but I doubt it'll be a blockbuster. "
this 'new IPs dont sell well' mentality is one of the PS3 fanboys favourites, but its completely false. they only say this because of the disappointing PS3 exclusive sales.
if a new IP is good, it will usually sell well. Gears of War was a new IP, and its sold more copies than ANY PS3 excl...
it doesnt matter how good GT5 is, it still doesnt take away from the fact that Forza 3, like it or not, is one of the highest rating console racing simulators of all time. pretty much every NON-PLAYSTATION magazine/website has had nothing but praise for it, and even sites like InsideSim who live and breath simulators admit that its just incredible, and thats when comparing it to the hardcore PC sims.
from what we've seen and played, GT5 is just looking like GT4 but in HD. the new...
@FangBlade:
"Fortunately, most of the Xbox 360's lineup is on the PC too so I can enjoy 99% of the games this year. I know I sound like a fanboy but honestly, if I have a good PC and a PS3, why do I need a 360? I wont waste my money for 2-4 exclusives a year."
Alan Wake? not on PC.
Halo Reach? not on PC.
Perfect Dark HD? not on PC.
Crackdown 2? not on PC.
Probably Gears of War 3? probably not on PC, since Gears of War 2 still isnt an...
read my previous posts - Bungie and Microsoft Games Studios have an exclusive publishing agreement.
completely agreed.
whenever a new third person game comes out now, it has a cover system that is a carbon-copy of the one gears uses (only its generally far more clunky and troublesome) and some sort of roadie run. thats how you can tell if a game influenced a generation, if every other game NEEDS to include some of its features or be left behind. the same way gears 2 brought the 'horde' mode of multiplayer to the forefront (yes i know other games did it before, but it was never ...
