1. PS3 hardware fails just as much as 360 hardware over the last 2 years. YLOD, firmware bricking, blu-ray drive read failures......its widespread. also the 360 has a no questions asked FREE 3 year warranty for its main failure, so thats no reason not to get one. if it breaks, it gets fixed promptly and for free.

if you do AA with the SPUs, you have to dedicated one whole SPU to doing AA - that right there means that instead of having 6 SPUs to use for CPU power, you only have 5. so sure, you could get the game having AA - but you might have to lose half of the AI on screen at any given time, or have canned physics instead of dynamic physics. its all a trade off.

so this isnt 'standard definition' - in australia 576p is classed as High Definition too btw - and it is a fair amount of pixels over and above 720x576 (576i, or standard definition): it runs at 1024x576.
the difference is:
720x576 = 414720
1024x576 = 589824
big difference, but still well below 720p having said that.

Ghostbusters was worse than this, and it was a lot more noticable. watching the comparison videos for FF, yes you notice the difference but its never really that big. Ghostbusters on the other hand, it looked like the entire PS3 game was smeared with vaseline all the time.

playing FFXIII in 1080p is a catch 22.
if you do play it in 1080p, you get to watch the 1080p cutscenes in all their glory..........but then you have the games native 720p being upscaled to 1080p, which is a big upscale. personally i would prefer to see the in-game graphics in their native resolution, so i would play it at 720p.
