this 10/10 is most likely true. IGN as of late (ie last 18 months to 2 years) have been very predictable in their scores, generally bowing to public (fanboys) expectations and giving all the super hyped games incredibly high and over-rated scores just so they dont have to put up with the fanboy rantings and everything associated with it. if its not a 10/10, itll be a 9.8 or 9.9 i think.

pretty much the second they gave MGS4 a 10/10 i knew that they had sold out. for a game so pol...

playing it in 1080p would make it look even worse than it would at 720p. there is not a single game in existence that looks better when upscaled than it does in its native resolution, and especially not when going from the reported 576p to 1080p.

*sigh*

the DLC 'that ends up on the competition that didnt cost them a cent', i assume youre talking about GTAIV? its true, sony didnt pay a cent......but Microsoft PROFITED off that DLC, and 360 owners got to enjoy it 12 months before PS3 owners, so who are the real winners and losers?

Microsoft:
- paid $50 million for DLC. now you might think this is a loss - and when looked at BY ITSELF it is. but then you realise that people have to pay for this DLC, and i...

look, no matter how big of a sony fanboy you are, there is one thing that NOONE can deny - sony were the king of the castle, but theyre not any more.

fact.

do they sell the most games? no, both microsoft and nintendo sell more.
do they sell the most consoles? no, nintendo vastly outsell them, and microsoft are still on equal footing, with a 5 million or so lead.

they are NOT the industry leader any more. they lost their way with the playstation br...

this 'revelation' brings up a few things for me:

1. WTF was square doing? there are PLENTY of better looking games on the 360, on a single disc, that are running in native 720p. its not the 360s hardware, its the programmers.

2. the PS3 version of FFXIII wasnt 'cut down' for the 360. they made the game, THEN looked at how many DVDs it would need - they did NOT say 'ok we have to make it fit on 3 DVDs so lets start cutting stuff'.

3. i really dont care, ...

if there has ever been a day one purchase of a game, this is it for me.

now im not a halo fanboy in the slightest - didnt even pick up halo 3 on release as halo 2 left a very bitter taste in my mouth. i eventually got it and thoroughly enjoyed it, but havent even played 75 multiplayer matches online.

but this just looks incredibly awesome, and im glad i bought ODST so i can get in on this Beta. everything about it just screams brilliance - the graphics, the physics, ...

its only difficult to argue if youre just seeing what you want to see.

Killzone 2s texture work is ridiculously bad, and its input response time is the worst i have ever seen in a game, clocking in at around 200ms. the only thing that makes Killzone 2 look impressive is the lighting and motion blur. there are plenty of better looking games out at the moment.

Uncharted 2, as good as it looks, its very cartoony. it also doesnt have anti-aliasing, and again, uses an abu...

2.5 million is mildly successful. not bad sales, but definitely not overly successful.

yes, it was critically adored - but once all the gloss and 'cuteness' had been taken away, gamers were left with a very, very basic 2d platformer with nice graphics. tedious level editing, terribly poor online play, and a short and poor single player campaign (and i use the word campaign very loosely).

1 million user generated levels really isnt that good. i mean, i personally mad...

i dont really see how this is that big news. media molecule have to date released a single game, and it was a mildly successful title that not many people cared about for more than a month.

but the tradeoff is that thats CPU power that cant be used for other things. swings and roundabouts.

5956d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

ummm no, thats not true.

like the other god of war games in the series, the framerate drops down to around 30fps when enemies come on screen. this happened in the God of War 3 e3 demo, and it will happen in the retail game. this is nothing new. when they say 'depending on the on-screen action' they mean that if theres no action on the screen its 60fps, if there is action its 30fps. again, nothing new, this is how the old god of war games did it.

but go ahead, fool yo...

it is a FACT that if you cant see ANY difference between 30fps and 60fps you should go and see an eye doctor. the old 'you cant physically see any difference between 30fps and 60fps' chestnut is an urban myth. why do you think some games have the option of 60fps mode, when the game usually runs in 30fps? what would be the point if the human eye couldnt see it? why would they bother making ANY game in 60fps if it was phsyically impossible to see anything above 30fps? lol some peo...

good thing the 360s GPU has 10MB of eDRAM for Anti-Aliasing then, isnt it? whichever way you look at it, more processing power is being used to do Anti-Aliasing on the PS3 than it is on the 360.

just as many, if not more, PS3 games are struggling to hit 720p than they are on the 360. GTAIV? 720p on 360, 640p on PS3. Tekken 6? 720p on 360, 576p on PS3. youd actually be hard pressed to find 2 games that run in 720p on PS3 but less on 360. the only one i can think of is Final Fantasy, and thats just because they did a p!ss poor port.

and no, God of War 1 and 2 were NOT locked at 60fps, they had the same variable framerate as God of War 3.

Not many games are loc...

@beavis4play

youre getting confused. the actual framerate IS dependant on the on-screen action. it is 60fps when theres not much going on on-screen, just running around exploring, but when enemies come on-screen it drops to 30fps.

what this article is about is the developer basically putting 'bullet time' in to emphasise things at certain spots.

2 different things.

"either way.. after playing the demo there's little left that i think that the ps3 can't do"

what about run anything but the most simple games in native 1080p with 60fps? it cant do that. what about even native 720p with constant 60fps and no screen tearing? cant seem to do that either.

5956d ago 1 agree12 disagreeView comment

it doesnt.

like the other God of War games, it will be 60fps while running around enjoying the scenery, but as soon as enemies come on-screen it will be 30fps.

because warranty or not, its a problem caused by Sony that is present in EVERY one of the original PS3s, so it is 100% their fault. its a manufacturing fault essentially, and if the PS3 becomes unusable or faulty they are liable.

if however you go and open up your PS3, they can claim you tampered with it and do not have to do anything.
