I remember, it was geeky to be playing video games at school. I probably was around 7-9th grade for me. Might have been that I played also on PC (played Dune, Warcraft and mocked around with TSR programs to get more memory), but you are right there were a lot of kids that played games, but it was still a niche group of people.
However, now a days it is common acceptance that video games is trendy and cool thanks to the Wii! See, Wii did do something for the hardcore gamers!!!
The fact of the matter is that Sony has announced a price tag of less than $100 for a camera and the dildo. The camera itself retails around $40 in store, so you do the math.
The dildo will probably retail around $40 to 60. I personally, I think they priced themselves right out the market already considering the PS3 alone cost $300. We haven't even discussed the sub-controller or additional dildos.
This pricing scheme will only work for existing PS3 users willing to ...
It is true that it is complex, but I don't believe for one second that Sony is experiencing drought when they have less units on the market than MS!
Besides, you don't just build a new factory to handle the load, you reconfigure existing units to handle your type of work.
This is just poor planning as any moron can see there are plenty of good reason to why the PS3 should sell like hotcakes right now and plan accordingly including delaying some of the exclusive game...
Because waving your hand using the Wii Mote or vigirously pressing buttons on your controller is sooo much cooler.
You certainly wasn't around when video games was NOT cool and only for the geeky kids. You know, the 8-bit and 16-bit era.
Can't wait to try this out!
Let the users have a voice is an excellent idea. I wonder why others don't have this!
Either there are no shortages or Sony is pretty stupid for not preparing enough stock considering:
- September/October: They had a huge price drop!
- November: Uncharted 2 was released
- December is the biggest sales month of the year
- January: one of the years biggest sales month as consumers shop after they receive gift cards and snap up after Christmas sales. This is when savvy consumers shop and the best time for Sony to capitalize on their value for the PS...
Perhaps because the article selectively picks games to match them up in a biased fashion. There is also the issue of looking at a sales figure relative to platform size i.e. the penetration rate of a particular game.
What happened to a bunch of other games including KillZone 2, Resistance 2, Ratchet & Clank, Banjo Kazooie, Gears of War 1 and so on....
Also, is the fact that is it fair to compare a title that is a relatively new IP as opposed to a veteran one?
The Move will suffer lag like any other motion controlled device as the article pointed out.
If you only rely on the accelerometers/gyroscopes, you are limited to basically what the Wii does. If you rely on the camera, well you will introduce lag.
There is no way around it, you can minimize it, but it will be there. For camera based stuff (including Natal) you will have to complete the motion for the camera/software to recognize the whole motion. Thus you introduce ...

I didn't enjoy my Xbox Originals any less because it was big, did I? Did I wish it was smaller? Yes, but size didn't matter to me.
So what is the deal.... People are up in arms, and going into console wars just because of the size. Seriously?
You guys are a fickle bunch. It shows who the fanboys are that attack and defend.
In addition, this doesn't account for the generally better software sales on the MS platform.
Supposedly, PS3 and Xbox 360 owners are similar in demographics so one would expect them to have similar buying patterns.
Exactly! Casuals don't care about HD gizmos and latest high tech features. If they did, they would have bought the PS3 or Xbox 360 long ago.
Casuals want easy to pick up games, familiar experience and low cost. The Wii fit the bill in every sense.
The PS3 fails in almost every sense in that aspect. Sony needs something that differentiates them from the competition, not a me too approach here....
I think Reggie is echoing my sentiment. The casuals never cared for graphics and when at least $200 stands in the way of getting an established product like the Wii or an increase cost of $200 for a total of $400 for the PS3, I think most will choose the Wii.
Wii already has the software and the Move is too similar to the Wii. Sony has yet to show us how the Move is differentiated from the Wii. Show us some games that are impossible on the Wii using the camera, some killer apps. ...
Me and my brother bought this for my other brother's birthday. He said the packaging was underwhelming!
I can see why, after paying $100 all you get is a box and a tiny art book. Everything else is DLC. The least they could do is give you a blu-ray with all the content.
What I don't like about this is the elitist attitude the community has. Slashdot is similar, but no where near as bad as neogaf.
I find it funny that people think MS will just send a check every single time.
The fact of the matter is that Xbox 360 has more users than PS3, so why not more than double your user base? It would be stupid to ignore the larger user base that tends to buy more games. Especially considering the 360's largest market is about the only one that is growing in the video game industry!
Especially considering that porting a game usually cost anywhere from 5%-20% of the total...

All I said is I would rather believe multiple independent review sites rather than one developer:
Proof: http://www.n4g.com/NewsCom-...
You know who you are!!!
Why do I say that? Because the independent review sites are trying to sell me the game. The developer is?
I don't think 8 hours is such a big deal, because it is 8 QUALITY h...
It is pretty much been established that SE dropped the ball on the port considering they split the game onto 3 discs, but didn't even bother to use all the space for the videos leaving a whole 1GB left on the disc. So much for space problems!
None the less, I don't think Xbox 360 only owners will be disappointed. The only ones disappointed are hardcore fans and people that compare it side by side to the PS3 version.
