Shameless or not, it is a fact. With the PS3 you can easily transfer your content between different PS3's with no problem.
I avoided purchases on 360 for this very reason, that if my 360 RROD I can't play my games offline. Content that I paid for! Have you read the threads about people having problems with transfering online purchases assets?
At the moment I love my 360 more than my PS3, but a fact is a fact. I call it as I see it.
Losing developers might have something to do with corporate culture combined with developers wanting to remain independent, but felt compelled to sell their business because it was such a good offer. Sellers remorse...
Bottom line is they MS did a smart move, by retaining the one of the most valuable assets, Halo and still keep the developers developing for MS. If you force them, the employees will just leave start a new company and now you got another developer possibly develo...
wtf, I keep posting in the wrong section. Moved post to the correct thread.
It is pretty bad and at this point Sony is looking desperatly trying to recoup the investments. Blu-Ray profit is at best a long term investment they again hope to recoup, but remember the rumoured (yes rumoured) $500 million buyout of Warner.
How many PS3's do you have to sell to recoup 3.2 billion dollars? Let's say optimistically Sony made $100 per console profit, which is probably difficult considering heavy marketing cost (due to much more difficult competing environment),...
For some reason this posted in the wrong thread. Reposted in the correct thread.
Unlikely to have a price cut for PS3 this year. Sony corporate announced they are trying to turn a profit on their PS3 business and the $3.2 billion loss is not going over well with shareholders.
Sony is also cautiously announcing that they might not recoup the losses for a long time if at all....
Still think there will be a price cut? Consider the fact that they are still loosing money on each console sold, even with a die reduction a price cut would eat into an...
This is one of the things that prevented me from buying Xbox Live stuff. MS has finally found a solution to the issue (that Sony have had all along, easy transfer of assets between PS3s).
It could be the new avatar thingie they got. Imagine MS coming out with something similar to Home before Sony... Now that would be funny as hell....
If you think about it they did an excellent job of designing the gamercards and making sure they will keep people playing and parting with their money even after the massive hardware defects people suffered.
Well said! He is leaving the company at the end of this month I believe and dedicating his time to charity.
They way I see it is, Warren Buffet, arguably one of the best investors of "all" time is donating his money to Bill & Melinda Gates foundation. You would imagine a man like Buffet would make some wise decision with money he is donating towards charity!
MS did some smart business moves and always keep plenty of cash on hand. Sony might not have had the cash and arguably did some terrible moves that paid off (i.e. gambling the future of a company on Blu-Ray with that much risk), however, they do have two things:
1. Extremely good brand in Europe. More so than I can remember among Japanese electronics maker. Sony is the creme de la creme brand in Europe.
2. Sony knows how to market electronics. If you look at a lo...
I agree with you that MS bought exclusives just like Sony. The differnece is that Sony claimed that Blu-Ray won due to consumers choice. That is an often overlooked fact. If you look around articles submitted to n4g you will find a good number of articles about how MS purchased exclusives and none that I remember about the Blu-Ray deal in favor Sony. This is just the flip side of things.
I think MS gets a lot of heat, mainly due to the fact that people are brand loyal from the ...
"It seems associating with xbox brand make people DUMB,first that peter moore, then shane kim and greenberg, then Itagaki and now cliffy B.Take this friendly advice seriously and Avoid xbox and anything related to it by all means!"
Wow! We should definetly listen to you with such an intelligent conclusion from your observation.... [/sarcasm]
I can't believe all these people just attacking Cliffy for this comment. All the MGS4 and PS3 fanboys coming to the rescue. Fact is that all Cliffy is saying is that these are not the kind of games Epic makes as they are focusing more on "action" (or should I say more gameplay).
Let's face it, MGS4 is a great game and cinematics are awesome, but man the cutscenes are long. This game is certainly one of the most passive games I played.
Cliffy's statemen...
What people don't realize with this update is PS3 is still far behind Xbox Live! It is the developer API and such that make supporting all these features into the games. These features are standard to all games, while Sony's update is very much like their rumble support, new games will support it, but older games not.
Sony's entry into the current generation has been a failure in terms of being thought out.
I own a PS3 and hope that Sony will really catch up soon...
PS3 did terrible in it's first year no matter how you look at it. People can spin the numbers all they want, with it sold better than PS2 in its first year. Fact of matter is the gaming market is much bigger now than when the PS2 came out and so you would expect it to sell better. You really have to look at the sales of competing consoles and must admit MS did great last year. This yer remains to be seen though for MS.
You are a perfect example of how Sony gambled on Blu-Ray an...
This is a simple case of lawyers cashing in based on a few angry parents. The one thing that bothers me here in the US is that sex appears to be the worst thing to befallen the American people. The news is so damn efficient at sensationalizing stories.
The hot coffee "mod" had no place in the court and was only available if you hacked the game to get the content. If a kid can figure out how to do that, most likely they can get porn!
There is nothing wor...
From what I can tell the original game was rather me mediocre and was just overly hyped. I think Jade Raymond gave it extra publicity by her looks and when all said and done the gameplay was just not repetitive, it was extremely repetitive.
I was highly dissappointed by this game and glad I didn't spend a dime on it. I like some of Ubi's game, but this did not meet up to the hype and sold suprisingly well.
Finally, so MS can stop ripping us off or perhaps they are ripping off 3rd parties that is passing along the cost to us. Either way MS gets your $$$.
I don't know why people are bashing the Unreal 3 engine. To me Gears of War (the original) still looks amazing, and very few games can match it, this includes PS3 games as well.
If a game looks crap to you, then perhaps you should blame the developer not the engine. The developers make the game, not the engine and stupid comments like I won't by a game because it was made with so and so engine is ridiculous and an insult to the game developer.
Don't judge the message by the messenger. Even an idiot gets it right once in a while!
Pachter's response here sound logical and makes perfect sense. I concur with him on this one.
