Which is in line with the rest of the world including the US after you factor in purchasing power and income. Take it up with your government why your taxes is so high....
The problem is the game is published by MS, just like Gears of War. The likelihood of this game coming to the PS3 is between nothing and nil. MS is heavily backing this game and judging by the sales it did rather well 300k+ while a big game like MGS4 only did 700k+ in comparison. MGS4 was hugely anticipated.
I'm all for multiplatform games, because frequently I find certain games play better on certain consoles. For instance, I hated NG Sigma on the PS3 due to the analog stick ...
What breakfast is saying is spot on based on the article. Another point is that a sale for 360 might be a lost opportunity for Sony. This generation is very different from the last when Sony had the most exclusives, and a huge head start.
The original Xbox only sold 24 million and the GC sold 22 million worlwide. If you assume each consumer only get one console, you realize that there is less than 200 million gamers out there accounting for Sony's 140 million PS2's sold. This ...
I don't know why everyone is giving 1stKnighT a hard time. It is clear that with MS, you have to have a certain standard for online gaming. Sony has no minimum standard it appears, and MGO is the result. No service is perfect, but by placing certain requirements you minimize issues like MGO's complicated id system and meltdown of servers (repeatedly).
I'm not saying MS is perfect, but it is clear that MS has the upper hand here. I like the ability to have dedicated servers on PSN...
I must admit that does sound pretty good. I hope not.
This will most likely not happen, mandatory installs. Simply as Fox01 was saying, because of Core & Arcade users. Unless they start giving away free hard drives.
Fact is, developers have been fine with the 360 so far, so why need more space in the future? I think that larger disc space at this point is just an incremental change in graphics quality (cut scenes and larger textures). Do you really care that much? If developers really cared, they would optimize it further.

Is it me or is this kind of dumb? People have been clamoring for the 60GB PS3 and to the lesser extent the 80GB PS3 due to the backwards compatibility. So they instead introduce an 80GB SKU with NO BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY. In fact, some of the 60GB PS3 has gone for more than their original retail price. Way to respond to customers requests! Perhaps they added another 40GB due to the required game installs?
I must commend them for giving people more hard drive space, but I would...
People can complain all they want about MS not innovating. Innovation is bringing something completely new to the table and I don't think any of the three companies are bringing anything "innovative" or should I say completely new to the table.
To me MS has been excellent at evolving the ideas into products people want to use. In the end, do I care if they copied it or not? NO! As long as they bring another feature to the table, I don't care and I suspect most Joe Sch...
Yeah, Pacther isn't the most reliable, but it is just that an educated guess.
However, I think the July numbers for PS3 will be rather poor. June was expected to be high, due to MGS4 and the Walmart deal that I suspect Sony was trying to artificially push their number higher. I know a number of people that bought the PS3, just because it was a good deal. The numbers stabilize afterwards, and I suspect that MGS4 is just a blip when it comes to long term moving consoles. The onl...
Based on what the analyst said in that article alone, I must say he is an idiot. What has changed in the last 2-3 months? Nothing for Sony exclusively other than MGS4 (that is well worth mentioning). One game alone does not suddenly make the PS3 and firmware 2.40 is not exactly Xbox Live....
The 360 had a temporary price drop and the most games. Suddenly it makes sense to buy a PS3 because of the blu-ray player. The blu-ray "war" was won many moons ago.

I think that people are missing the point here. Because there are great games out there for the PS3 that has overcome some of the bottlenecks, it doesn't mean they don't exist!
Xbox 360 has bottlenecks as well, but just to focus on the PS3 at the moment:
256 MB of video RAM is a great improvement over PS2, and probably seemed like enough at the time. Fact of the matter is that to overcome this, you will have to constantly load the texture you need and overwrite s...
The problem with Blu-Ray is it was premature technology. The data transfer and seek time speed is slow compared to the amount of data needed in "High Defitionition" gaming.
A cache is therefore needed on the hard drive. It is a limitation, but not impossible to solve.
Hard drive install is a pain, since now suddenly the 40GB hard drive will not have enough space and I don't want to buy another drive. The upside is less noise from the optical disc and le...
I'm not sure, but I think those are the only exclusives Sony has. Kind of impressive if you think of how long the PS3 has been in the market compared to the 360.
Sooner or later console exclusives will only come from first party developers and all third party games will be multiplatform.
The article is poorly written and doesn't point out many of the recent events and issues around the LCD vs. Plasma.
The contrast and color fidelity of Plasma is far superior to LCD. If you put a LCD and Plasma side by side, almost always will a person pick Plasma as better picture. However, the Plasma has other issues:
1. Glare: The screen has glare and reflects light. Thus some might experience faster vision issues or headaches.
2. Horizontal Reso...
Well, the console experience is very different than on the PC even for the same game. To top it off, the PC does not compete in the same space as consoles in terms of cost and experience. Therefore I don't think drawing the "360 exclusives aren't real exclusives since it is available on PC" is valid.
Would I consider buying Mass Effect or Halo on PC? No, even if I did not own a 360 simply because I don't like the PC experience. Worse is, most likely the games won't lo...
I expect this flamebait to have a large number of comments.
People will start pulling out all sorts of manipulative arguments for why the PS3 is better or unfairly treated or why this is a justified for the 360.
We will probably hear a lot of:
"Xbox 360 has been on the market longer, so developers have had more time to develop games for it. Better games are expected."
That is a poor excuse primarily because you can turn it ...
I'm no way saying it is ok, but one of the reason cited is the licensing cost to develop for consoles. Sony and MS initially don't make money on the console and sell at a huge loss. Sony lost $3.2 billion reported so far.
The console manufacturers have to recoup this somehow and they do it with higher licensing cost for game publishers/developers. PC do not face this problem, there is no hardware cost (loss) to recoup. Anyone pretty much can release a game on it as there is no ...
Yeah, this is MS greed! I think this serves only to piss people off and alienate their customers. If people want to take it off, let them. Then entice them back by providing quality products and content.
See my post above, 11.1 for your comment on cost of Blu-Ray vs. DVD.
@scthor:
I hate to break you wet fanboy dreams, but 360 with the new Falcon chip is much more reliable. Generally if the company gets severely beaten down by an issue, they will turn around come stronger in that area. I will definetly trust MS to prevent such issues to re-occur.
Perhaps, you should have picked the Wii though.
Cheaper: Wii
Reliability: Probably no less than PS3
Support: Better
