I'm not in the piracy scene, as I don't trust pirated software. It is easy for them to slip in code to monitor your stuff or infect viruses. With that said, I think there is no way in hell DRM stops pirates. The game is released sooner to the pirates than to the average joe wanting to buy the game. If they want to pirate it, it is an easy click away at your favorite torrent search engine.
It is about time the paying customers revolt on the DRM and I'm glad this shows up on amaz...
Holy Molly! This thing is fast! I like it!
Except talent is hard to come by and there is a lot of expectations from an established franchise with a huge fanbase.
As far as I know though, Team Ninja is mostly intact and "only" missing the most important guy. So there is still a chance it could turn out well....
this is technically not game related news....
I like what I see, although it does look a little "childish" if you can call it that. Basically, toy like.
However, I like the minimalist and simple approach!
I'm not a game developer and had next to no experience with developing for PS3/Xbox 360. However, the issue of how much cell processing power is used is less important than, what can the cell be used for and do I need it?
You might not get much graphical improvement or even just small increments over what has already been released. However, the cell exceed in multimedia heavy type tasks and not necessarily graphics. The cell processor can be used for advanced physics engines an...
They did point out that the kid was on vacation though.... I would assume that if something like this was true though that a lot more people would be seeing this problem.
I'm sure MS logs IP's and etc.... so they can track down this type of behavior. I say buy Xbox Live membership/points on pre-paid card in-store and have a strong password. Then there is little to worry about.
Another thing I want to point out is that Xbox Live is tied to the Live! service, which...
This is kind of messed up for current owners of the PSP and worse for those that recently bought it! Looks like Sony will do this yearly from now on to spur sales.
Still wondering if they will have the Dualshock 3 working with the PSP. Now suddenly you almost got a portable PS2!!!
One guy get's a problem with his recent 360 and he cries about it. Perhaps, I should go around spread news that my 360 is still running since I bought last November and I have been heavily playing it.
It is kind of like that one guy on TV that complained about his 360 was defective and he had to replace it multiple time. Then they show where he stored the darn thing and it was like this tiny enclosure. Heck I don't store my DVD player in such an enclosed space....
Hmmm... would I pick the Wii version over a PS3 or 360 version? Probably not, with Wii's crappy online support.
I think the guy has a point as well as this is not really news. This is one guy being treated well. It happens all the time with large companies and is largely dependent on who you speak to and how generous the person is.
It is not a company policy so it doesn't really matter to most of us.
Dedicated servers have it it's obvious advantages, but the disadvantage is that Valve can pull support for the game and suddenly you can't play the game anymore. I'm not familiar with how the business side of hosting games are, but would imagine that a P2P supported game is likely to have a much longer life.
I would think a game like that had limited market, but seriously?!
I'm not saying anything about the quality of the game, but more of the potential number of buyers interrested in this type of game.
I thought so too initially, but after carefully reading the article. What it is really complaining about is that the $20 budget version of the game came with all the DLC for FREE and the game at a discount.
Early adopters got screwed, and if they want the DLC they will have to pay for it and it will probably cost more than $20 for all of it. However, it isn't like this wasn't expected. Other games has been released like this in the past.
The flip side of this is ...
I hope it will be illegal for isp's to cap. Frankly this is heading ina bad direction. First they say, oh the cap is at a 250GB, then they reduce it by introducing lower cost plan. Then they get rid of the old plans and introduce newer crappier plans.
Step in the wrong direction though, but in Comcast defense they have provided me the best internet I gotten compared to crappy DSL service from AT&T and they are far more generous....
Wish I could get fiber!
Of course there are going to be managment issues and so on, but this affects both companies. Do you think the managing development on a PS3 is any different than a 360? I wouldn't imagine there would be too much difference, a game is a game.
Consider this:
- Sony themselves stated they have "improved" their tools as well as increased support for 3rd party developers.
- Many developers have time and time again stated the difficulty in developing ...
That is how I understood it as well, so I'm not sure why one would need 240Hz. The motion isn't going to look any smoother, as it is limited by the actual frame rate of the movie/tv show/game.
I suspect this is a marketing gimmick. I mean why not, anything with a higher number is better right?
People forget that this unit is not intended to compete with the PS3. It is to compete with the Wii and from that standpoint this seems like an excellent value.
Consider this is a $200 unit and you get HD gaming + superior online play if you wish with an upgrade path (albeit a little expensive) this is an excellent value compared to the Wii.
The Elite is what is competing against the PS3 and the pro is somewhere in between. People complain about the online play c...
It isn't about the developers being lazy. I think developers in general want the bleeding edge technology as they enjoy it. At the end of the day, there is limited resources and how one delegate it.
So the question then is, given finite resources should the developer try to figure out how to work with the tools or try to improve the game mechanics? Would you prefer stellar graphics over gameplay?
I think the bottom line here (regardless of what other consoler mak...
A few other things:
- What if EA decided they wanted to shut down their activation servers?
- What do you do when you run out of activation and EA said sorry?
- What if you live where there is no real internet access? There are rural places you know...
I think there are many ways to solve this problems, but draconian DRM is not the way to go. This is punishing legitimate users. If you think about it, why would I pay to use this software, get my comp...
