"So the increase in 360 sales actually contributed to a $52 million drop in revenue for the quarter? But wait...an increase in sales causing a revenue drop? Why, that sounds like the 360 is being sold at a loss, doesn't it?"
You are correct, revenue is not equal to profit. The story is incorrect. However, revenue is NOT DOWN as you stated and there is no indication that each console sold is at loss. That is just your spin!
It MIGHT just means each console i...
I don't know why anyone would disagree with you when there is good news unless you are a fanboi. Disagreers, you know who you are!
Good news for the gaming industry means it is healthy and we will continue to see further investments that benefits everyone regardless if it is Sony, Nintendo or MS.
lol... the kettle calling the pot. Either that or you are just not being very specific.
MGS4 had a worldwide release in June 12, 2008. The game beta was released in April 08'.
In almost every way is the PS3 version better or the same except for two things:
- graphically the 360 version is slightly better (barely visible), but probably not enough reason
- the online community is marginally larger on the 360
- finally, I suck at this game so I can whopp people that use the 360's d-pad since they are bound to make mistakes.... lol
Seriously, my 360 is more accessible in the two locations I am at. I only have one PS3, but two 360s....
The DLC downloaded and updated without a hitch on the 360....
Yeah, it is called when idiots rule!
My take is if a developer paints something positive or neutral, they aren't necessarily being frank for obvious reasons. If they stick their neck out and say negative things, it is most likely true.
I don't like podcasts, I can't skim them....
Instead of considering the few that get the game at 800 points lucky, everybody else think they are entitled. Typical....
I recon the Xbox 360 Arcade is a great value compared what I consider it's main competitor, the PS2. It can do everything the PS2 can do just better with an upgrade path at a very attractive and close price point to the PS2. Now the PS2 large game library is unmatched though by any current system though.
People that complain about the hard drive is mistaken about who the 360 Arcade is really competing against. The majority of people that consider an Arcade aren't going to conside...
My Sony TV has a headphone jack on the side. I don't think the Sharps has it.
Wii Sports were not exactly sold separately from the console and thus not an optional purchase, but I get what you mean.
I for one couldn't finish the article and just skimmed the thing, it is poorly written.
Anyhow, I think Sony was very arrogant coming into this generation and they have now gotten more humble after Ken was removed from his duties. Anyone remember the cr@p that Ken was saying?

I complete understand about competition, but there is still no problem for Firefox and Opera to compete in this current market. Artificially keeping price up (i.e. prevent MS from giving away IE) is unfair to the consumer and anti-competitive to MS.
That is like forcing car manufacturers to offer multiple choices of car stereos, because it is anti-competitive to use the car manufacturers own. I don't hear car stereo manufacturers/resellers complain, so why is Google and Firefox? ...
I wouldn't say it is cheap parts, but rather poor design. The DVD drive is just an off the shelf PC type drive from Lite-on, Samsung and the like. All quality name products. PCB and chip problems are due to engineering, not quality of the parts.
The noise even though the game is installed is still loud and it really depends on the fans in the back of the machine. I got two Falcons, they both have Delta fans and is fairly loud.
My cousin has a non-falcon, but super qu...
I welcome any extra DLC since I don't have to buy it if I don't want it and was going to b!tch about how the map prices is increasing. However, further research shows that this is a fair price compared to other offerings that cost more i.e. Mythic Map pack and Heroic Map pack each comes with 3 maps for $10.
It almost seems this map pack should cost $6.99, not that I'm asking for a price increase.
I still think that map packs should be for the most part be free. It is...
ditto:
This is the truth to the fanboy mythos. It is all about "I like", not "it is better". Because in the end, it's all just personal opinion rather than concrete quality.
Giving away the browser is bad in what way? If it weren't for MS, we would probably be paying that $70 fee annually to Netscape. Look at Firefox, they are still in business after all these years. So no, I have no sympathy if one business can find a way to give something away for free and you were unable to compete.
It is not as if MS limited your choices and prevented you from installing Google Chrome, FireFox or Opera.
If anything it is anti-competitive to force a ...
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
This was like the only game other than Tatsunoko vs. Capcom I was interrested in on the Wii....
Here I thought the excitement for games on the Wii couldn't get any lower.
My posting was posted before somebody made pointed out the mistake. It could swing either way, why people disagree.
Either way, your reasoning about holding back technology could be applied to the Wii or the PS3 as well. It is just a technological hurdle just like anything else. Blaming it on a company is just as silly as blaming it on the consumer that choose to buy the product and support MS "forcing" the developer to go multi-platform.
