The "Why should people play..." segment really got me hooked. I hope the game is as good as it sounds from that answer.
Both the AAA industry and indie developers make good and bad games. Indie games are always interesting to check out because they might not follow a tried and true formula, whereas AAA games will probably be mostly the same as something else, but with a couple of cool new mechanics.
I think Cave Story was amongst the first modern indies to hit our hearts by making something nostalgic but still fresh. There are a ton of free indie games on the web, but the craving for fresh gam...
I am getting some Beneath a Steel Sky vibes from the visual. It does look somewhat dystopian. I don't think a game in this art style can scare me much, though. It does however look interesting.
"Finally a good indie"? Well, that's a bummer. Sure you didn't mean to say: "Finally a good horror game" or something like that?
I don't know. I think it may be a bit overcooked.
Yeah, playing this game on a dark Winter night just might not be for everyone. ^.- The wind and the creaky noises around the house are all turned into potential noises a crazy mental patient would make as he makes his way up your stairwell. Enough to give most people a heart attack.
"...we wanted to make the player feel really alone with no hope of finding someone who could help him and no backup."
I think it would've been good to have a glimmer of hope being presented early on, and then take away that hope in the middle of the story. It could increase the feeling of loneliness and despair in just a moment's notice. I also think Amnesia's take on the story aspect was well done, without spoiling any of that here.
Unsettling horror is the best horror. Random jump scares and gore gives little value over being put in an unsettling state, like Outlast manages to do quite well.
That poor woman. So many moustaches.
Well, the theme is a bit different, but the screen shots certainly reminds me of Pulp Fiction as well. It looks like a fun little game to play for short periods of time. I'll definitely be getting this on Android if it lives up to my expectations.
Well then, why not play it on your phone? It's coming out for both Android and iOS.
A game inspired by Syndicate is bound to be good. I'm glad to see the good looking art style as well.
I think it could be cool to have several spies as well, with all of them having to be taken out. Or perhaps some kind of score if it is done partially. Come to think of it, several snipers would be cool as well, trying to be the first to spot something. Although, I guess they would rather see as many games played as possible, rather than having huge XvY games.
I'm not sure that this is a game I'd like to play personally. It seems like good YouTube material though. I am also sceptical to early access stuff as a funding model, although I do buy some from time to time. I'd prefer it if the game was more close to completion when I buy it. There are not many games I play years after I first played them.
I hope the NPCs are random enough to allow for a bit of variation when playing. It would be a shame if the game is too easy for the sniper.
Well, Clue is a good game, so why not develop it and make it better? I wonder if it was inspired at all by its base concept.
What's so bad about it? I thought it looked pretty cool, actually. It just took a long while to come out from when I first heard about it, which was a shame.
Gamers are not complaining about "DLC". Gamers wanted the market to go digital for a long time already, and I bet everyone has embraced the DLC model as the new way of getting quick, small expansion sets.
Gamers/customers are complaining about bad and pricey DLC (e.g. day one/on-disc, in-game advantages, bad content, aggressive in-game advertising, unfinished stories, etc.) as well as exploitative micro-transactions (e.g. Dungeon Keeper (mobile)).
A game that is impossible to ace is quite new to the industry, I'd say. I'm sure there is an "optimal route", as with all games, but what choices would you have to make in such a playthrough? What would be your goal? I certainly hope the industry takes note of this game when they are creating the games of tomorrow.
I don't know if I can handle all this love, Cat. Every single day of July may just be too much. <3
Uncanny Valley interests me gameplay-wise, but I'm not sure what the goal of the game is.
