The article is editorialized and angled so badly. This is the kind of media attention that gives the whole gaming community a bad rep, not gamers. She's hardly scantily clad in public. She does some cosplay though.
This depends. Older games did it right by giving you the choice to set the field of view to just about anything. Newer games, especially on consoles, restrict your field of view because of performance issues (low FoV is less graphically intense).
Here's an example that I stole: http://i.imgur.com/gjJGLDr....
One of the bigger issues, in both FPV and 3PV, is that there is a huge interface in the...
I think these issues will normalize as society moves into a state where gaming is more commonplace in adults. Games have been kind of a niche up until recently, and still sort of is. Despite what recent studies hint at, male gamers still far outnumber female gamers in anything but cell phone games. And while more and more adults play games, it's still a huge minority that does anything on a "gamer" level (i.e. plays involving or a varied set of games regularly).

Buy a charger when you buy the console. What's so hard about that? The box clearly states that no charger is included, and they are sold separately. I'd rather have separate chargers, than a new one with every single item I buy. The fact that they have gone over to a universal plug is great. I just wish that they'd gone for the USB standard instead of a proprietary plug.
Trade-ins requiring the charger is the trade-in policy's fault if anything, not Nintendo...
This is possibly one of the best ways to handle these issues. The people who are behind pointless anonymous harassment should be able to stand up for their actions.
Anonymity is important for a bunch of reasons, but these guys are unknowingly giving more ammunition to the anti-anonymous proponents behind web 2.0 monetization. If only there was an easy way to make separate channels for anonymous personae and real people. The best of both worldwebs.
Happy Natal Day!
I'll be buying my first house for this joyous event.
That's the issue LogicalReason just pointed out. They played "some form of video game over the last six months". So a person who played Flappy Bird once in March are counted with the same weight as someone who goes to online boss raids for hours every other day. And how convenient is it that using those specific boundaries, they managed to get 52% (barely a majority)? Seems skewed towards the results they wanted.
I don't think that someone who enjoys playing...
I think it's more like surveying everyone who drove a car the past six months as professional drivers. These surveys all tend to steer clear of mentioning how much the games are played and how diverse the consumption is.
E.g. Spending an evening on and off in FarmVille is not the same as spending an evening in Counter Strike or an MMO raid.
Also, while I can't access the research file in OP's link, they tend to bend data towards whatever they want...
Finally a really good video on the whole feminism issue.
I can't say I disagree with any of the points she made. The research has been done time and time again, but it has been brushed off by 'feminist' sympathizers, random forum goers and main stream media because it's not the currently popular political view on games, and it has been pushed mainly by men or people who don't publicly identify as feminists.
Actual feminists coming forward ...
Humour. Showing the stupidity that so many people manage to display on the net. And it's also a bit topical right now, with Gamescom and all.
There are a lot of bad or repetitious articles and discussions being posted, but that doesn't redeem these ones. I like cosplay and hot women as much as the other person, but there are other forums for that. Let's not pretend we don't know why these articles get boiling hot. People didn't click to comment on the new releases from Snail Games.
Can you name any games from this expo without looking it up right now?
Looking at the ChinaJoy tag rig...
How many times a day are these ChinaJoy girls going to be posted? Such news.
I agree with Zarmena in this article, except that I do give a damn.
Sony is entitled to make a decision about what goes on their console before you get a decision of whether you want it or not. Especially if it affects them in multiple ways. The whole "I should be able to decide" argument is just a bandwagon statement that people started throwing around without really thinking about it, as if Sony shouldn't be able to.
I give a damn, because I h...
@Arturo84:
You are wrong. The one thing they usually care about is that they aren't getting paid for having the song played. Say, you can't make a website that costs you money and time to maintain, and host music that you don't have the rights to copy on it. Even if there's nothing that earns you money on that site.
The problem at hand is that the music is only a part of the video. When a streamer is playing games, people are there to watch the streame...
Yes, if you don't own the rights to something, Twitch can remove it in compliance with laws they must abide to.
However, as the article clearly states, as a video game streaming site, there are huge issues with this. Many games include soundtracks from popular music, or original music that can be claimed by the game's creator. It's currently a grey zone, the way many people see it. The music is just there, but not what we are watching the stream for.
You aren't going to go through the thousands of comments to pick the best ones? So lazy! ): Ehe! ^^,
Finally. This has been a long requested feature for Steam. Some people bought publisher packs long ago, that included some games they'd never play. It's not about hiding them from others, but from yourself.
My long requested feature was also added to the beta in May, in case people missed it. You can finally choose which DLC to install or uninstall, so buying DLC doesn't require you to install all of it as it used to. Great addition if the DLC changed the game or ...
This is the same thing that they announced in their original press statement. I don't see the news.
Their launch day statement said: "Each game is different, so each game’s trial will be, too. In some titles you’ll be able to play one of the game's modes for a limited time, while other times you can jump right into the full game." And they added to The Vault about games being there to stay via twitter right afterwards: 4263d ago 0 agree2 disagreeView comment
Congrats, Darklurkr23, you lucky nob! ^^,
I got a Gun Monkeys code already. Thank you for that one. (:
Last year's indie month was great. Hoping this one turns out to be just as fun, even though Cat is not here any more. ;;
Bit of a shame that I don't use facebook for the extra entries, but I get it. Everything is facebook and instagram and so on in this day and age. Web 2.0 is so awesome..
