Pre-determined: These guys have already made up their mind. Whatever company, console or game they favour, they will continue to favour. Any news about their allegiance, good or bad, will be twisted into a good thing somehow, and news about their enemies will at best be something their own already does just as well in their mind.
Insecure: The people who need validation from critics and media that the console or game they bought was a good purchase. By no means have they made...
I think you're almost spot on there. I do think there's room for alternatives though. They don't have to do away with the current system if they allow for a subscription as well. Perhaps add some sort of fee to swap a game out before the given rental date, so you're not completely locked down.
I assume that if they decide to go for a subscription model, it would have low fees to attract as many as possible, but only include older titles to deter gamers who wou...
Yeah, I thought the gameplay articles were the best as well. They were well written, funny and painted a good picture of what the games are like.
The thing is that there is already a venue. We aren't allowing new venues or competition in this regard. Everything still exists within the same store or mall, and there's no real competition between the two stores. If there is a third party, like in the Netflix case, there is room for actual competition. It's just that the publishers think about their own earnings over the consumer, which is why they would rather see the full first party earnings rather than a lower third party m...
What you're talking about would be more akin to having a category for each developer, where they could showcase their best titles and allow you to browse only their titles. If you don't believe Microsoft gets a cut from this, you're mistaken. It's all still in their store, but they have their own little club corner that you have to pay a member's fee to join.
While I do see the point of the people that are for this, I don't think it's something we ...
These games are only worth that much because that's what the industry has led you to believe.
They already save a ton on getting digital purchases, but they aren't pricing it lower than retail because "they don't want to undermine retail sales". And what do you think they save by having loyal customers that subscribe? They can advertise all their games to you, and they'll forecast exactly what they'll earn. They can dangle some carrots that force...
I made a blog post earlier today, pretty much agreeing with your points here. Especially when it comes to the Netflix sentiment. A third party service (like Netflix and Spotify) or first party service (PS Plus) could work out great for this kind of stuff. I just don't think EA has any good intentions. Ever.

Hehe. Yeah, I got that. I was just goofing around a bit with that comment. ^^; Sorry about that.
There will be more. (: A bigger and better event is already in the planning. There was apparently a lot of interest from other indies during this month, but all the spots were filled. (See the link to Cat's blog on the top.)
Good interview. Nom Nom Galaxy sure sounds a lot different than it looks. I think I'll go check out a video of some gameplay. I can certainly see a bit of the Soviet era in those screenshots, but A Clockwork Orange? I'd play that game, but I don't think it would do very well with your young 'uns.
Well, that certainly is a nice way of promoting the Early Access model. Helping to cook it to perfection. ^^,
Creating bases and defending them from other corporations... so much hate in this soup business. Can't we just join forces and make the greatest soup there ever was? Why would they just assume that there's not enough soup to go around?
Sounds like a horrible game؟ ):
Too bad I don't use Facebook! I do like C best though. Mainly because it's wearable in public without causing too much of a fuzz, and it just sort of looks cool on its own.
Can't say I did pay much attention to the other titles in the PixelJunk series, but I've only heard good things about PixelJunk/Nom Nom Galaxy. I played Terraria and Starbound, but I've heard Nom Nom Galaxy is a bit different despite the world and certain base mechanics being similar. With the added tower defense part, it sure sounds like it!
I think that is the weirdest trailer I have ever seen, but I couldn't stop watching. And why does Steam pop up when he adds a PS3 to the soup..?
Ah! I thought that could be the case, but I also thought you could surpass these limits as moderators. I struggle at using formatting like text-links and images in my own blogs. ;;
It's not a big deal then, but I do agree with coolbeans and DragonKnight as well. They do feel a bit "spammy" over the user blogs, since only the five newest blogs are shown in the front page list. Perhaps you could make the five newest users that submitted blogs have their latest blo...
IndieMonth was very interesting. Some games I'd heard of, others not before this month. I enjoyed reading most of the articles regardless. The thoughts certain devs have as artists or behind making indie games are often unique, and it never seemed like I was being force fed PR like when a major publisher would talk about their game and how it's not the same as their previous game.
I feel that perhaps I forced a response to some of the less interesting games or devs wh...
It isn't my intention to make a BP topic out of this, but I'll reply shortly on this post since you asked. You can restart events now, but there's no fast travel. And yes, a lot of the billboards, jumps, etc. are found when playing normally, but they do feel like a "fetch quest" when there's only a few left.
I think that is part of the problem though. If a lot of publishers say "me too", then we're going to have the possibility to pay $100 a month for these services. And who is responsible if the service is not working properly? And it is more akin to PS+ than PS Now. You don't get all the games free. You get 10% discounts on their games, premium game services not available elsewhere, early trials (i.e. demos, woohoo), and a couple of old games that go on rotation, if the report...
Heat Signature looks quite fun already. Just add some goals and random events and we're good to go. ;D Nah, better take your time and get the game to a place where you're comfortable releasing it, Francis.
I honour the choice of not wanting to have DLC, but wanting the game to be feature-complete at launch. Generally makes it a better experience for the players not to have the game "reinvigourated" by stuff that could've been there from the start. Of cou...
The article is wrong. Edit: The creator corrected these parts now, but I'll leave my comment otherwise as it was.
"The internal HDD of the Xbox One is a 3.5inch 500GB 5400 RPM drive."
There's a 2.5" 500GB 5400RPM SATA II Samsung HDD. And changing it requires opening the Xbox One and voiding the warranty, which I wouldn't do so soon. In contrast, the PS4 allows swapping the internal HDD.
"Almost all external USB...
