The only game to unseat this in my PSP is Gran Turismo!!! I am addicted to BOTH games...it's either one...or the other!!!
Let me BUY the game first!!!*LOL*
Bubs right back...and by the way...that was just a list OFF the TOP of my head...I could dig into my back catalog but that would just be OVERKILL...*LOL*
that you "really hate when people assume what is best or not for me" That was NOT the point of my argument...nor really the point of the original post. Unless I am mistaken (if I am, then okay), I thought that you believed that Blu-ray in the PS3 was SOLELY for watching movies. My intent was to explain that movie watching is an added feature to the intent that SONY had of MASS STORAGE. So, therefore, the value of Blu-ray (though used as a selling point for movies) is REALLY to provi...
The sad and unfortunate truth is that WITHOUT the console wars...these forums would be pretty empty. You gotta admit...there is a little entertainment value in the console wars...and if you think that the manufacturers would like to see us getting along...whatever. It's divide an conquer on the economic level...divide the industry into factions, passively fuel the fire, and conquer all of our wallets!!!
The UMD is still alive and there is STILL planned involvement in the rumored PSP-4000, which will probably add the 16GB flash memory and Bluetooth to the functionality of the PSP-3000 design...at least that is the rumor.
I agree that the LIVE franchise has come a LONG way in ONE year. However, now that I have tried each one....I am STILL a 2K man. That being said, I think that LIVE is on the way to a great comeback. The graphics and physics of the basketball have made a change for the BEST. AI and player movement off the ball need some help. All in all 2K is still the best simulation of basketball...but LIVE is on it's way back.
I UNDERSTAND Mario as the greatest video game ICON...but NOT as the greatest HERO. But I get you on the getting too old thing. When you talk consoles and the conversation BEGINS with PS2 or Dreamcast!!!*LOL*
Bubbs up for ya!!!*lol* Sometimes a good joke is worth all of the great comments in the world!!!
That argument is good...but is dependent on the demographic of it's potential users. Early on, this has been stated over and over, the PS3 was purchased by adults with the average age of like 26. Whereas, the Xbox had an average closer to 20. This means that older gamers were probably busier with families, jobs, etc. to game as many hours as the Xbox demographic that really points toward the teen to tween crowd which is closer to school age and is likely to have MORE gaming time to spend. So,...
Blu-ray is for STORAGE as well. It provides for HUGE amounts of data to be stored so that you could enjoy a game like MGS4 (which Kojima said himself that he couldn't have done on any other system because of Blu-ray) and the likes of Uncharted and Uncharted 2 (which has NO install). If 5 minutes of your precious gaming time can't be taken for an install...then MAYBE the PS3 is NOT your console.
George Washington Carver found over 100 uses for the peanut...does that make it the most utilitarian and hence valuable tool ever made? Or was he just an innovator in the way he CHOSE to use the peanut? Just a thought...kinda with you on argument...but kinda against the WAY that you went about it. Only because cost is SEEN by the company as the perceived VALUE that it has. One might say that you could get the VALUE out of a $150,000 car but it would be at the COST of depreciation and therefor...
I know that analysis is NOT an exact science...because SCIENCE is not an exact science. However, the point that is being made over and over is that Pachter seems to be FAR less accurate than most analysts that comment on the industry. His SPECULATION, not his analysis, is what gets the jeers from the gamers. Oh and as far as "knowing far less than he does"...well...I can tell you that I would take the word of a MASS MAJORITY of gamers (who, by the way, SET THE TRENDS) then ONE perso...
I understand your point...but disagree with your assertion that "only console's that sell well make money". The PS3 and 360 have sold well...not as well as Wii by any means, but well. (both above 22 million consoles) The REASON that the Wii makes money is NOT solely based on it's "staggering" sales, but the fact that it is cheap. No, not cheaply made, but cheap to produce. The internal parts that make up a Wii are NOT on par with the more expensive parts that are put into ...
However, you and I both know that they keep making Pokemon BECAUSE IT SELLS!! That game had the kids buying brand new systems...just for the (whatever color of the month) versions. Nintendo knows what sells....Pokemon...JRPG rehashes....portable versions of their greatest hits. It would be great for devs to step out and do something original...but what is the incentive for taking THAT chance...when most of the risky titles don't sell well. It is an unfortunate truth in the gaming industry tha...
Think those are AUSSIE dollars...not American!!!
Mediocre to the tune of 50 million units and counting (no it's NOT DS sales, but for an upstart portable...it HAS given Nintendo something to think about). System selling games...that is OPINION...but I put God Of War Chains of Olympus, Motorstorm Arctic Edge, Gran Turismo, full 3d versions of GTA classics, as well as the GTA Chinatown Wars (which didn't sell well on DS), and a FUTURE with Little Big Planet and Assassins Creed. Let's not forget the ability to play PSONE classics on PSP and yo...
I agree that MS COULD subsidize the cost of NATAL and make it accessible to the average consumer (which would be in that range of $50-$75). They have deep enough coffers to make that happen. However, the question is will they try to capitalize on the already generated hype (not in a negative sense) of NATAL to try a HIGHER price point first. Should be interesting to watch.
I agree that the job of an analyst if difficult....IF YOU DO THAT JOB! Pachter seems to just bandwagon a couple of internet rumors into an "analysis" of the game industry. I think that forum members here at NG4 do as good of a job at speculation...oops analysis...as Mr. Pachter!
I agree with you, but that might be the problem that nbnt is having. Because the faces look so realistic, there is an expectation that the character models will react EXACTLY like a real person. The subtle things that we subconsciously pick up might be missing. So, in a way, the "uncanny valley" does present a problem here...at least for nbnt.
