Agree with all of them, though - not surprisingly - I take issue with the notion of Killzone 2 having the best graphics ever. Period. Having played it twice, having put it beside Gears 2, having played through RE5, I disagree. I'll admit, I'm not entirely objective, but anyone who blindly claims that KZ2 (or any game for that matter) is the best looking EVER is on some fanboy crack.
KZ does lighting and motion insanely well. It's a joy to watch it move, run, jump, die, etc. But s...
Are you saying the Karma System can't be done on 360? GTA and it's use of Euphoria was very compelling and allowed for some truly amazing and organic moments. I'm not sure how Infamous would open the minds at Rockstar. GTA doesn't exactly have superpowers, nor does it need a good vs. evil meter.
Has it sold 100m yet? No? Bummer.
That should tell you how much people value their inferior 360's. Despite the failure rate, despite the hardware issues, the system provides so much satisfaction that gamers won't grumble about buying a replacement. The scars of true love.
If PS3's failed as often, I wonder if gamers would shell out for a replacement.
Maybe they want a sensible console. Maybe that's why Sony has lost so many exclusives.
Regardless of the cost associated to the developers, this concept bothers me, if only in principle. I don't like the idea of biting the hands that literally create the content we love so much. As an end user, I'd rather foot the bill rather than tax the creatives that make these games. I feel like I'm taking responsibility for my hobby rather than expecting a free handout.
This isn...
thereapersson doesn't even realize that he's the butt of this joke.
@ the 2 above: well said. Also own both. Also kinda favor my 360. I wonder if there's a trend amongst gamers who own both...
Amen brother. Have a bubble.
it's hard to care about exclusives. I only care which version of a multiplat is better - which is typically 360.
I feel like exclusives are at the heart of fanboyism. I think most of us just want good games. And if they happen to be multiplat, so much the better.
Now I'm gonna get my Flower on and try to forget about all this tension.
Are you serious?! I'm not hating on your cute little kiddy system, but now I'm laughing at you and how defensive and personal you've made this post. Plus, when you start calling things like DVD and online connectivity gimmicks, you're clearly severely disconnected from the current trend of mainstream gaming.
However, you seem to have a lock on being a mainstream douchebag. Kudos.
The Wii is not for us. It can barely be called a console - as much as we understand that term now. The Wii is comparable to Tickle-Me Elmo. It's cute and inoffensive. It doesn't push the boundaries of technology in terms of visuals or sound. I personally don't like what's it doing to gameplay and control.
It's success is commendable. But it's not a part of the current console war.
I want as many gamers as possible to enjoy this franchise.
So whether you play it on Xbox or play it on your PC with disdain for the Xbox, I don't care. Just play it. Play it. Play it.
I don't see the letters "CGI" in that title either.
And maybe this makes me a stubborn flamer, but no matter how many trailers or clips or titles of clips you roll out in front of me (though I'm happy your taking the time out of your day to do so...) it will not change the fact that the Gears ads have always been done with the Unreal engine. Always. Since before Gears existed. Since before Unreal existed. Since before god.
C'mon. Are you seriously telling m...
1. I don't support this article. I'm all for more in-game and less CGI. By all means, promote the PS3's graphics as much as possible.
2. Gears NEVER had a CGI trailer. If you've played the games, then you know every piece of marketing was always in-game. That was the point, and it's one of the reasons why Gears ad campaigns are legendary, especially amongst those in the advertising industry. Trust me, I live with one. Even Marcus Fenix running through the night alley. Totally in-...
Indeed, sir. Bubbles for you.
MGS4 has nothing on the original MGS. It was so stream-lined and perfect. Not an ounce of fat on that story and every piece of dialogue and character interaction paid off and tied into the central theme of Snake's journey.
MGS4, on the other hand, is beyond sprawling, and it's beyond convoluted. You could suck out 40% of that story and it would be much, much better. I was ready to destroy my plasma whenever Sunny opened her stupid little mouth (Oh, she's making eggs Sunny side up...
All Unreal baby. And if you want to talk about BS CGI trailers, KZ is the queen of that pageant.
@ no-spin:
Totally fair assessment. Both games are essentially tunnel shooters with well-dressed walls, but RE 5 doesn't need nearly as much processing power for things like physics so it can dress the walls with even prettier stuff. And the animations are beautiful, especially when you get into the melee. Uppercutting these mofos is sooooo satisfying. Some of these RE battles get frantic and big, but never really KZ big.
But then, if I may, KZ never gets as big as G...
I'm loving this game to pieces. I got it for the 360 after a lot of soul searching - RE has always been a PS franchise to me and I was very conflicted. However, a few key factors pushed me away from the PS3 on this one.
1. 360 was lead console.
2. Almost none of my gaming friends have a PS3 which would limit my co-op options.
3. Every comparison I've seen shows the 360 with the graphical edge (smoke and particle effects specifically)
4. Played both demos and was...
It could be more graphically impressive. I'm just a dumb player and not a programmer, but it doesn't seem like there's a lot going on - despite 200,000 blades of grass. For how simple it is, the visuals also seem a little simple. The joy of this game is in how it moves, so I'm not complaining, but it would have been nice to have more texture to the grass. Some of the later sections feel very bland compared to the visual majesty of the first few.
I've never liked RPG's. I played FFVII because it was hyped and a tech achievement for the PS1. I played FFX for exactly the same reason. Didn't finish either one. I hate turn based systems.
Then I played Fable. And then I played Mass Effect. Both examples of the direction that RPG should be heading toward - more organic, more seamless, more worldly. Just because we're playing games doesn't mean they should feel like games.
Having said that, I love the visual style o...
