I love the fact that EA got roasted throughout Game Awards and PSX. Shows there is still hope for the gaming industry.
To be honest I expected a 10-12 hour game. This is really surprising.
Was hoping for it to be a new medievil game. This is great though. If it succeeds it might open the door for a sequel/reboot.
It's not like it definitively should've won any but I think it had a good shot at some. For example I've voted for it in:
-Best narrative
-Best direction
-Best art direction
I think you are overestimating the influence of the awards. Horizon is a highly successful and critically acclaimed new IP. Sure it would've been great to see it win an award but it's already great that they've been nominated for multiple awards in a year with so many great competitors. Guerrilla Games can be proud of themselves.
Yep. This pretty much sealed the deal for me especially because they're also bringing Bayonetta 1 and 2 over as well. Really smart move because Bayonetta 2 needs to be on a more successful console than the Wii-U.
I'm throwing up. So excited. Need more info asap.
I've just bought it two days ago and have already put 8 hours in.
Minor spoilers: i think it starts out a little slow (even for a JRPG) but once it introduces a couple of systems to the player it starts to be pretty fun. I'm now at the point where I can move around freely for the first time (before the Kamoshida mission). Can't wait to go back and play some more. It's a bummer that the game doesn' t let you make screenshots though.
I doubt it'll be remembered when it gets worse every year. I just hope that as the AAA market is falling apart more devs will take the opportunity, go independent and pursue passion projects. I like the way Ninja Theory has developed Hellblade where it was much cheaper than your average AAA game but it basically has the same quality. Maybe it's time for midtier-budget games to return in this way.
Most of these points are on the publisher rather than the developer. And the reason why they exist is because most of the time they get away with them. If consumers keep buying, publishers will keep milking their franchises. The fact that these practices keep working tilts me towards agreeing with the notion that the average consumer isn't exactly a genius.
Probably. Infamous Second Son came out three and a half years ago. I wouldn't be surprised if Sony announced the title with a relatively close release date as well.
@UltraNova: Interessting speculation. I'm pretty sure that the PS5 won't have it's GPU and CPU on seperate dice. I'm assuming it'll be an APU. Unified HBM sounds realistic if the manufacturing prices go down enough and/or HBM3 will be ready in time (which seems unlikely from what I know). Since native 4K gaming will probably be the target I'd estimate a minimum of 16GB with a total memory bandwidth of at least 1024GB/s.
7nm sounds about right so the ...
One of the greats. Top 3 alongside FFVII and FFVIII in my opinion. I love them all equally. PS1 generation was the golden age of the series.
He is the director and writer of a AAA game. What you describe as narcisstic is just his confidence in his skills as a game designer, director and writer. Of course he's a "control freak", It's his job to be just that. These attributes are essencial for a person in his position.
"God damn it... "
I've read that in Sully's voice.
We're talking about Hideo Kojima not Peter Molyneux. In my opinion Kojima is one of the most creative minds in the video game industry. He also understands the medium better than almost anyone else. If we can expect anyone to innovate or even reinvent the medium this is one of the top candidates to do it.
On a personal note the Metal Gear Solid franchise is among my favorite franchises of all time. Seeing the teasers trailers for Death Stranding has me hyped because th...
60% would be above average as far as I know. I don't know how they got that number though. I've checked the trophy data yesterday and there is a trophy which you get close to the end which was synced by approximately 30% of players.
What you've just said may have been the reason behind designing a controller with asymmetric sticks but I challenge you to find any serious scientific research that shows any real benefits to this design. While subjectively one may prefer one design over the other the issue of symmetric vs. asymmetric sticks isn't really an issue at all.
Very unlikely considering the push for more demanding visuals and increased resolution isn't slowing down and the average gamer isn't willing to pay more than $500 for a new console.
I agree with that 100%. Quality > quantity. But if we can have both I won't say no.
