The only thing that I didn't like so far were the advanced 6 person bouts at the musclehead collosseum. The battles are fun to figure out at first, but 5 out of the 8 challenges feature the exact same enemies in every possible configuration so it gets a bit repetitive. I've still got the hardest VR challenges ahead of me, but I'm currently taking a break and waiting for the patch to fix the bugged side quest. I'm definitely intending to platinum it and so far I haven't en...

Have you even stopped to think how your prebuilt PC is gonna run PS5 games, not to mention PS4 games. It might surprise you, but installing FreeBSD on a prebuild PC is not gonna do the trick. Sony's API is very different from Direct-X. It's not meant to support a wide range of hardware configurations.

Sony invested a good amount of R&D budget to make the PS5 backwards compatible with PS4 games. It's not simple software emulation and it required specific hard...

I doubt I'll even do that. The upgrade is too small to be worth it in my opinion. In fact, I'm even surprised they went through with this, considering how small of an upgrade it is in terms of raw performance. Maybe they see most of the value in using it as a test run for a feature set that will continue to develop into the next generation.

I suspect that by the time the list of games using the Pro's features will be substantial enough to warrant getting one, th...

It won't. A Gen 5 chipset would just increase the bill of materials for little to no gain whatsoever. The Pro console still has 16GB of VRAM, which means there is no point in increasing the SSD bandwidth since the base PS5 already can fill the entier VRAM pool in 2 seconds. Games that take significantly longer to load aren't bottlenecked by the SSD bandwidth to begin with, so increasing that won't do much in those cases.

@frosty: Where are you getting that from? We still lack the information on how this will work exactly, but generally speaking you can't really do this on the driver level properly, because at that point you lack all the depth and motion vector information, which is why a proper upsampling algorithm needs to be implemented on the engine level.

According to the information we have, PSSR doesn't require the project to be ported to the newest SDK, which potentially make...

The ingame description seems more vague to me as it just says that it dynamically adjusts based on your skill level. Even if it just scales with the level of the character, I still want to feel stronger when leveling up and I want to feel the difficulty spikes of enemies as I'm progressing through the game. Seems like the dynamic setting would at least even things out a bit more, which is not what I'm looking for in my first playthrough.

I'll certainly experimen...

I usually go for the highest difficulty available, but I'm not a fan of the idea of dynamic difficulty scaling. I don't mind feeling overpowered at times in an RPG and I'd rather feel the difficulty spikes when entering a new region for example. I certainly don't want the game to get easier if I die to a boss a couple of times in a row so I'll play it on Normal difficulty for my first playthrough.

I agree. If this gets approved I'm getting off this site for a couple weeks at least.

Seems much more likely that the team simply wanted to prevent perverts from zooming in on the cleavage of a 15-year-old in photo mode. I'm pretty sure the Nibelheim flashbacks in Remake were only a couple seconds with a fixed cutscene camera, so that wasn't much of an issue until Rebirth where this character model is obviously used a lot more.

Maybe you guys should hold your horses until you've played the game and stop jumping to conclusions. I've already go...

If I'm surprised about anything, it's that Media Molecule isn't even mentioned in the blogpost at all. I honestly would've expected them to be on the chopping block alongside London Studio at this point.

They've restored the music of the chapter 1 intro cutscene back to how it was on PS4. Never understood why they changed it for the PS5 version in the first place.

Would be great to have a way to filter out tags in our n4g feed (or at least time them out). I've said this before but these type of articles just draw me away from this site.

Thanks, I hope so too.

Really happy to see the critical acclaim. I just hope my copy arrives on time so I can maximize my playtime over the weekend next week.

Strange thing to argue about. Microsoft launches a product into a market where physical games are still valued by a good portion of the target audience. Whether you find that petty or not, is irrelevant. You don't get a vote in how other people spend their money.

With that said, I get that the demand for that game is hard to estimate for Microsoft and they don't want to risk overproduction, especially since they're launching in such a competetive timeframe, but ...

@Elda: For sure. Let's hope the game turns out great.

Sharp & clear, until you start moving the camera that is.

But to each their own. At this point I'm just happy that options are a thing. It seems to me that our brains must fundamentally be wired differently if you're seeing more of the world in 30 fps mode compared to 60.

@Eonjay: These 2nd party releases are a good start, but they'll need a lot more of these type of games. In the long run it probably would be better be less dependent on outside partners too, especially in the consolidative environment the gaming industry is currently in.

But I mostly agree with you, there are obvious ways to improve the current situation and I don't think Sony is going anywhere or that they are doomed. Also these large AAA titles are still gonna be ...

When your rising costs outpace your increase in profits you're on collision-course with an unsustainable business model in the future. Seeing the projected budgets in the Insomniac leak honestly makes my head spin. Finding additional revenue streams through TV series and movies may be an effective band-aid that buys them more time, but they still need to fix the trajectory of their core business.

Shawn Layden warned the industry of exactly this situation. He rightly ide...

Agreed. By the time it comes out I'll still be playing Rebirth. Any game releasing in march will have a hard time competing for my time. Doesn't mean I won't pick it up later on though, but then again, I still haven even bought Team Ninja's last title Wo Long, which also looks interesting to me.
