They're not really willing to sell consoles at a significant loss anymore, but I don't think they'll ever be too greedy on the price of the digital base console. That's the one they want you to buy after all.
Wouldn't be surprised if they ratchet up the profit margin on the optional disc drives over time though.
I'd say a 1TB variant is more likely for exactly this reason. There's really no point in driving up the price for people who would be fine with 1TB, which is probably most people. Especially because it's very easy to upgrade the storage for people that want to.
I do prefer the greek saga, but that's mainly because I wasn't a big fan of 2018. Ragnarök pulled me back in. I think it's a much better game than 2018 in pretty much every way. The biggest area of improvement is that the world actually feels more lived in, mainly because there's more than a handful of NPCs in it. The realms also have more of their own feel rather than feeling like pallete swaps which was an issue with God of War 2018.
It could've ...
Off topic, but wanted to mention that the autoscroll feature makes it hard to reach the site navigation elements at the bottom of the screen like DarkMode for example. I always autodelete cookies, so I have to reactivate it every time and the autoscroll just pushes it further down.
In their FAQ they've stated that they are looking to offer a physical release later down the line. I'm personally waiting for that one.
Same. Also keeping an eye on Where Winds meet and Wuchang. Hopefully they turn out great.
Phil Spencer surely must have the world record in the amount of times a CEO can put his foot in his mouth throughout his career. I honestly wonder why Microsoft even lets him do interviews at all at this point.
It looks like the PS5 version will have the full game + DLC on disc. The Xbox version will require a download.

$60 is fine. $50 would've probably been better, but $20-30 is absurd. Astro's Playroom could've easily been a $20-30 game and this one will be much bigger and presumably better.
When new IPs start looking like Concord, you can't blame people for wanting another Resistance or Killzone instead.
Stephen Kick mentioned that The Darkness was on their list of potential projects last year. Would love to hear an update on the chances of it being actively pursued in the near future though. I love what Nightdive is doing and them bringing back The Darkness would be great, especially since the original isn't that accessible to a lot of people so it's hard to recommend it, even though it's one of my favorite games.
There is no chance I'd ever use something like this, especially if it's not part of the core game design, but a layer on top of it. It's way too much handholding. Many games already feel like busy work, because they don't let the player figure things out on their own. Having a real-time interactive guide defeats the purpose of playing the game in the first place in my opinion.
If this were to become the standard like you predict, we'll see more and more ...
@rakentaja: You don't need to sell your company to get financial backing. Not to mention that the idea that you're going to be allowed to make the game of your dreams under a big publisher is naive to begin with.
More often than not, indies are just bad at the financial side of the business. It's common to underestimates the production budget needed and hire too many people leaving the studio in a vulnerable position. A lot of them sell out of necessity, not bec...
@TheProfessional: Personally I wouldn't have been interested in anything close to a 1:1 Remake. More often than not, I consider those to be a waste of resources. I prefer direct ports/remasters that keep everything about the original intact (which already exist for VII), or full reimagined Remakes that act as a supplement to the original without making it obsolete. The VII Remake project is by far the best example of how to do this well in my book.
VII Remake rumors hav...
The same thing could be said about any game that was made with sequels in mind though. If they released the whole remake project in one game it would've been much less ambitious. Some people like yourself might've been happier with a conservative Remake approach, but others probably would've complained about the unrealized potential of remaking the classic.
The original aged very well and is still perfectly playable. I just don't see anything particularly in...
The vast majority of games in my collection. You wouldn't have to ask that question if you made informed purchasing decisions. If more people did, we wouldn't have to deal with nonsense like this at all.
Skip Remake? That's terrible advice.
I have a lot of minor nitpicks, but the only major criticism I have is how this game handles exploration. There's way too much handholding in that regard. I don't need to see everything there is to find on the map before I even get there. The towers are completely unnecessary too. Chocobo stops, cache locations and some items you can dig up are pretty much the only genuine discovery's you can make on your own.
The game already has a ton of mechanics that guide t...
"Those consoles aren´t powerful enough to run true current gen AAA games powered by UE5 at 60fps without some major cutbacks."
That may very well be true, but 30 fps is a major cutback compared to 60 so why not offer the alternative for people that prefer responsiveness and motion clarity over high fidelity assets and static pixelcount. If they add a performance mode via patch, will that make it less of a "true current gen AAA game" even if the 30 f...
Of course you will be able to. Sony isn't isn't going to close down the upgrade path for people with a physical disc collection. This should be obvious. I don't understand why anyone is surprised that they're continuing with the add-on disc drive. There will probably be a physical bundle just like there is with the current PS5 revision.
