People who only play the same 3 big franchises every year also existed during PS2 days and they weren't playing Onimusha back then either. I don't see anything inherently outdated about the IP. They just need to show more and put some marketing behind it.
Wukong doesn't stand much of a chance, unless public votes are weighed very highly. If critics votes are prioritized (which I believe they are) it's gonna be between Astro Bot, FF7 Rebirth and Metaphor: ReFantazio.
Shadow of the Erdtree not being a standalone game will make it very hard for it to collect the plurality of votes, despite the critical acclaim it has gotten so I don't see it winning.
Balatro will probably get the least votes from ...
That's very plausible in my opinion. The importance of ownership must've been very clear to him after his departure from Konami.
"Also, in this announcement, KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS reported that the IP of this work will belong to the studio. The group will continue to connect more fans around the world through various forms of entertainment."

Apparently KJP now fully owns the IP, so hopefully the prospect of Death Stranding getting away from console exclusivity leads to less drama surrounding the launch of Death Stranding 2. I believe the review bombing campaign against the first game did a lot of damage, specifically because this is a somewhat unfamiliar type of game.
Hopefully the Xbox community gives this game a chance. If it sells well I'm sure Death Stranding 2 will come to Xbox as well.
The remasters were rarely full-price. We got plenty of full collections of previous gen IP for 40-50 bucks. The lack of backwards compatibility made those remaster collections a lot more sensible than what we're getting now.
The 10 bucks for the upgrade for this is fair enough, I'm not gonna knock them for that, but I still question why these unnecessary projects are even greenlit in the first place.
If we're gonna act like a remake is necess...
The only thing I'd call a massive upgrade is the water. The lighting is also more accurate so one can cherrypick examples where the "Remaster" looks significantly better.
With that said I'm not a fan of the oversaturated foliage and in places I prefer the color tone of the original. Frankly this isn't even worth the 10 bucks to upgrade for me, especially since I've just recently replayed the complete edition.
@Knushwood Butt: No I wouldn't. The PS3 version's runs at an unstable 30fps. The PS4 remaster already fixed that and made the game much more enjoyable as a result, which is why I don't see the need for the PS5 remake.
When the consoles weren't backwards compatible, remasters made sense to keep the classics accessible on modern hardware, but remaking PS4 games on PS5 is an entirely different situation. These games already run natively on PS5 and many of them ...
@outsider1624: These terms don't mean anything anymore. Technically it's a remake. When remasters became a thing during the PS3 generation, they were just ports with higher resolution and a higher frame cap. The integrity of the original game remained intact for the most part. Those ports were much closer to the analogy of a remaster in music production where the term originated from. Replacing things like water rendering, overhauling the lighting system and most importantly remaking ...
Does anyone remember Phil Fish saying that japanese games suck? I wonder where he is now.
These are still the same clips going around from the press hands-on demonstration over 2 weeks ago. 9 of the 11 games shown already run and look great on the base unit so the differences there will be nice to have, but ultimately not convince many people to jump on the Pro.
The other 2 games are FF7 Rebirth and Dragon's Dogma. Rebirth is the most impressive result we've seen so far as image quality concerns were widespread on the base PS5. Dragon's Dogma 2 on t...
We've been on that path for a decade at this point. Sony specifically requested 16-bit floating point register operations (rapid packed math) in the PS4 Pro GPU for checkerboard rendering. TAA has been in use even before that. AI upsampling is just a newer improved version of what we've had before.
I'm less optimistic for frame generation personally, at least at frame rates that matter for console gaming, but we'll have to wait and see how far upsampling can...
Apparently it pulled entries from the "news section" that has always been there when you scroll down and displayed them as a default background instead of the keyart or activity cards.
If "it was over" with MGS4, how come you're still here complaining 16 years later?
@Kouzmich: I get what you're saying. I think the faces look a bit strange as well, but I don't agree that it looks horrible. Unfortunately there is a significant number of people who refuse to play old games so this is probably the only way to get them to experience this masterpiece.
Personally I'm more curious about the quality of life improvements like camo switching and survival viewer, but I wouldn't be surprised if I default back to the original for fut...
They're just temporarily unavailable. I guess they want to prevent scalpers from buying up the entire stock. Preorders have already reopened in some regions. Even if the initial stock sells out, they'll probably have many more waves before release and even if you can't get in on the pre-orders, I wouldn't worry too much. I doubt it's gonna be hard to get one when it launches.
What message are you sending exactly? 'Please don't make incredible looking sequels for my favorite games?'
Make it make sense.
Miles Morales was a significantly smaller game than Spider-man and it was made in a relatively short time. This is clearly a full blown sequel which was in development for 4 years already. Maybe they've decided to switch to another time period to differentiate it from GoT. It gives them more freedom to experiment with a new setting, new characters and new gameplay mechanics.
I thought the previous 3D audio calibration was way too crude, so I was looking forward to a more detailed approach. If the update is live, I'll try it out later myself. Hopefully it works well in the stable release.
Technical issues especially on PS5 bring Wukong down. Capped 40 fps mode just got added though, so that's a big upgrade potentially.
