I bought my PS3 back then based on empty promises for Agent and The Last Guardian. Learn never to trust a publisher until the game is actually out... (luckily it was Naughty Dog compensating for that in spades)

At the beginning of the gen they were, but when the indie channel was created they changed their policy so XBLA only allows publishing via a publisher (and to be a publisher you must release retail games for the 360 so it's out of the question for small developers).

But Microsoft still had an amazing array of indie games all throughout this generation, picking just the right games most of the time for publishing via Microsoft Studios.
They still do, as their recen...

Exactly these two.
And Skyrim.
And Uncharted 2.
And Alan Wake.
And Red Dead Redemption.
And Arkham City.

Damn, this is hard.

A development budget of 10-20 Million is standard for current gen games (especially for a single platform game).
More impressive games such as Gears and The Witcher 2 were developed with a lower budget.
Even The Witcher 3 which is truely one of the most impressive next gen games multiplat games has only 15 Million dollars for development:

@Sitdown

Obviously we didn't because the PS3 was weaker, and multiplat games heavy on graphics clearly showed that.

But this time the roles are entirely reversed:
Last gen the PS3 had TAH POWER OF THE CELLZ while sprouting a weaker GPU with less efficient (split) RAM with higher OS overhead. They tried to make up for it with a complex CELL SPU architecture which wasn't very effective to develop for. It was also more expensive because of the m...

I'm not sure it's the polygon count since that is 4 million polygons only in theory without LOD reductions (you can't actually "show" 4 million polygons on a Full HD screen since there are more polygons than pixels).

After all, current gen games already achieved this polycount: Forza showed 1 million polygon on a single car model in Autovista mode, Halo Reach pushed way more than 4 million polygons in a frame (quoted as "4 million more than halo 3&q...

N4G Logic at it's best:
MrMister claiming Microsoft, a publicly traded company, is not only ***paying bribe money*** to unknown journalists, but is actually doing it to ***complain about Microsoft*** and how they removed a feature they liked.

And the absurd reasoning? Microsoft is paying them now, to set the ground for another console coming 5-8 years from now! Because that's a smart business decision. "Not gonna work on us" he screams while putting ...

Yeah, just like Steam became the greatest flop on the PC....
Nobody wants to buy those DRM games forcing you to play games tied to your account without the ability to trade them in (oh wait, the Xbox One did give you some ability to do that).

This is obviously is why Half Life 2, which was the first game to include such DRM, sold better than any Xbox 360 or PS3 exclusive to date. What a flop.

And it's a bigger shame that their once a millennium release is actually not as good as the competition, not to mention having worse racing mechanics. GT lost the throne somewhere in the Xbox-PS2 days when Forza emerged while GT4 started declining from the greatness of GT3. The last gen was hardly a competition.

Doesn't matter, since a WiiU is actually a 349$ plus $399 plus $50 - simply because you don't have proper online multiplayer games for the WiiU.
You have to buy an extra console and then pay the subscription fee. I'd argue that someone buying a WiiU in the first place doesn't care about online multiplayer anyway - maybe some couch multiplayer but that's something else.

Or you can just get a PS3 instead, which still bodes no online multiplayer fees,...

I seriously don't get this backlash: Since he's both an avid gamer, as well as a famed game designer, so unlike most people he actually sees both side of the coin.

Cliffy made the top PC Platformed at time of release, the top FPS at time of release, and the top TPS at time of release.
Each turned into a successful series as long as he was attached to it. Each inspired countless other games and left a legacy.

It will be very hard to make better games coming from this position. It's like asking Michael Phelps to bring home more medals.

MS "anti-consumer" policies were just as bad as Valve's Steam, only with the added benefit of sharing games with friends and family, plus the ability to still re-sell physical copies at a store (something Valve doesn't let you do).

People love steam, so what's not to love with a friendlier approach?

It's funny how these specs are mostly the opposite of this gen (360 cheaper, more ram available, no mandatory HDD, better indie policies, more good games thanks to a year headstart, stronger GPU and so far longer support since the console is a year older. Yet many people didn't really care and bought the PS3.

But although some of the next gen assumptions here are still just speculations, one comment about HDD and next gen: the XB1 supports installing games on any exte...

"You mean M$ did not have 'real' X1 dev kit ready for X1 at the biggest game convention of the year?"

Are you seriously asking that? The article clearly says:
"they were simply running the game native ******since they didn't have time to code to a dev kit for E3******"

Do you understand the concept of time? It's merely an Xbox 360 games which they are STILL in the process of porting to Xbox one as well.

Other games perhaps, but we're talking about Dead Rising, aren't we?

Not to mention, all those other games were not published by Microsoft - while Dead rising is (don't know why. First game was published by Cacpom. Perhaps it's a similar deal to Bayonetta).
The Only game I recall published by Microsoft and actually released on the PS3 was Ninja Gaiden 2, where they actually renamed it to Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 and slightly changed the actual gameplay. Bu...

By making the game for the COD players they simply mean they added a mode with no time restrictions. But old fans can still play the game the way it was meant to be played... with the clock ticking and hard decisions to be made.
