@Logicwins
When you wrote "no one who played through that campaign with at least one eyeball", was that a stealth reference to Poseidon? ;)
@LastDance
Try The Witcher 2. Although I myself prefer the tactical games like Dragon age, the hand combat system in The Witcher is way better than any competing game in the genre.
What, too hard for people to search Youtube nowadays?

The xbox guy was actually the smartest of the bunch: He's the only one of them who realized that the call is a prank call and actually out-pranked the prankster with the Jenny phone number.
Based on your comment I see you don't have the slightest clue what textures are, right? Try focusing on the subject next time
Your confusing the word "raped" with "was inferior to".
The PS3 version was released a year later and still lacked detail (for example in bump maps) and didn't include the AA that was available in the 360 version:

The same applies to Fallout 3 running on the same engine.
Better luck next time.
An amazing observation!
Let's wait for the DF in depth analysis, shall we? If I had a nickle for every time I heard a pre-release "this versions looks better" only to be proven completely incorrect I'd be able to buy the limited version of every game on all platforms...
Even then - considering the fact that Crysis 1 comes to PSN and XBLA... I wish them luck showing something equivalent on Flash 11 :)
I have no idea how they had the nerve to put PDZ. It was probably one of the best games released at launch and was received rather well commercially and critically.
I spent the best part of five hours yesterday trying to remove a curse placed on me by a giant weird frog-thing...It's a brutally unfair chain of events, but even something as obviously cruel as this ends up having more narrative oomph than a metric ton of bread-and-butter RPG quests.
Sounds like that's Dark Souls take on the "removing vampirism" quest from Oblivion? Nice!

Well said superlupe. This is a great demonstration of how the best new IP on one console helped the best new IP of another console.
Maybe it's not *just* gears that set that influence, but it's much more obvious then other games based on the article. After all, what other gritty 3rd person shooters with cover based mechanics did MS introduce apart from gears? Halo is not a third person shooter, and it's as further away from gritty as a game can get.
@Kleptic
So you basically say that they should give dead island 7 for the effort because "it was a small developer with a low budget" and basically lie to their audience even though the game is bad?
Why should I care? I pay for it the same price I pay for Gears and Resistance, and I want the reviewer to inform me which game they think is better before I shell out my own 60$ for a demoless game. Reviewers should only care for their integrity and for their cus...
People here don't understand the meaning of a console generation, and mix it up with graphic cards and processor generation.
The Xbox 360 for example has a 3X3.2Ghz PowerPC based CPU, while the original Xbox had something equivalent to a 733Mhz Celeron. Yet, the Xbox 360 is only one generation ahead of the original Xbox.
Each console generation we see the power multiply by about a tenfold (it varies from one generation to another). Current top of the line...
@Godmars290
GT5 didn't set any standards, it was just playing catch up with the other franchises and also came quite late. The game set the bar and was the standards in the past 2 gens (which is why Turn 10 and other studios still mentioned it - it's not jealousy but rather respect), but somewhat lost the touch this gen.
If anything, Polyphony is a perfect example of a studio "fall from grace". It has defined the PS in previous generations, but this ...
Both Snake for Nokia phones and Minesweeper for Windows beat Wii Sports by a landslide.
Try harder next time...
Fortresscraft is XBLIG, not XBLA.
And the "stole the 'craft' from the Minecraft" sounds just silly. Warcraft was there before, wasn't it?
Gears 3 did offer new stuff which I haven't seen in the genre before: from completely new game modes like Beast mode to small refinements like the digger launcher. It deserves the recognition it gets for keeping the innovation going even on the third iteration.
NukaCola, that is kind of delusional. Microsoft had only a single game contract with the OI afterwhich they went switched publishers to EA.
So MS never killed anything (on the contrary, you can see her that from a marketing perspective they expected this game to be bigger than Halo) and in fact neither did EA: It was OI themselves who wanted to put OddWorld to rest in order to focus on a movie franchise they were working on (don't remember the name, but eventually it neve...
While I agree that Gears 3 is lacking in some areas like character texture and models, you shouldn't bring in KZ3 because texture and models are probably its weakest spot (alongside the LDR implementation and low-res particle effects). KZ shines when it comes to lighting, shadowing, animations, art direction etc - but take a look at the enemy models and you will see how low-res they sometimes look from up close.
