@Criminal
I find it funny how people are sometimes claim that COD is using a yearly development cycle where infact it's two studios with 2 years development cycle each.
All this while ignoring the Battlefield development cycle on dice:
2008 Battlefield: Bad Company
2009 Battlefield 1943 + Battlefield Heroes
2010 Battlefield: Bad Company 2 + Vietnam expansion
2011 Battlefield 3
Notice a pattern here?
I don't think this article is worth reading into too much. It's a trollbait piece written by someone who makes HHG look like a professional critique.
So this guy is actually complaining that he has to pay for a pink gun so he can wear it in disgrace?
I recall that Ninja Gaiden black had an easy mode ("dog mode") that gave you boosts but forced you to wear colorful ribbons as a mark of shame....
Perhaps Epic is taking a similar approach by giving people who willingly spend money on stupid DLC a similar mark of shame/stupidty that they can voluntarily wear to let people oline take notice?
@Iroquois_Pliskin
Undersold perhaps? But not underated. Both games were critically acclaimed and won multiple awards. And SOTC actually performed quite well sales-wise, with a big ad campaign behind hit.
It wasn't his fault - that's what the interviewer asked...
I read it, but it seems that unlike gamerblorge I actually understood what he's talking about...
Well, for people who don't like the "Pretty standard military guy goes out in a blaze of glory" shot. Typical of action movies and whatnot.", Gears also offers the alternative approach with the Carmine family. No blaze of glory there...
I'm pretty happy that he has no involvement with the Halo 4 game for the exact same reasons mentioned in the article. MGS4 storyline was a convoluted mess, even more then your average story based Japanese game, with some ridiculous over the top stuff even in the MGS universe. This doesn't make much sense for the Halo universe where things are not that much "in your face" and over the top.
To know that the actual person in charge of the Halo 4 narrative desig...
Megaton: The article states that this was the whole point of the ad campaign, to catch the gore hounds slightly off-guard.
Gears trilogy is not just a romp through hordes of enemies and it does have some emotional depth (well, for a mainstream shooter at least, and perhaps not so much in the first game), although it's easy to miss if you just go for bro-shooting in co-op.
The amazing ad campaign set an amazing tone for people to experience the game, which suddenly...
Definitely, although they did put a nice reasoning behind each choice.
But I'm sure that more seasoned gamers will probably disagree with many of their choices (especially for mobile games). I know i do...
Assassins Creed Brotherhood and COD Black Ops are also holding on. What was your reason of singling out GT5 for that matter?
But the US IS NOT THE WORLDZ!!! Who Cares!?
Oh, wait. It's the UK they're talking about this time...
No Glados? No Shodan? No Andrew Rian? No Kane? No Purple Tentacle? No Ur-Quan? No Lich King? No LeChuck? No Kreia? No The Master?
How can a list actually miss every single one of the best villains and countless more villains that are better choices then most of the cardboard cutout villians shown here?
They even manages to mess up their choices games that good villains when they went for the obvious bland and boring villains from the same game instead.
Why isn't this article flagged? It's just trolling from a blog notorious for doing so, and the writer doesn't even understand the technology behind the MegaTexture (and not Super-texture!) feature.
Baldurs Gate 3 please
You know you can also use any 16GB USB drive for game installation, right?
If you only need it for rage, no point in buying an expensive MS hard drive
So more hardcore chickens then Fable 2 I presume?
Great interview and great read! As usual from DF.
But I expected them do delve a little deeper on the disadvantages of the MegaTexture tech. This isn't a PR piece after all...
The ANT from EA Sports games is definitely one of the most impressive animation techs, and the new Impact engine demonstrated in Fifa 12 is almost next gen:
http://www.youtube.com/watc...
It even tops the procedural animation systems we see in Assassins Creed and Uncharted because it has such attention to details. The only competing engine is probably Euphoria which does some neat things as well. It'...
@WANNAGETHIGH
Yeah, I guess it's the "marketing team" who managed to deliver 3 AAA games in the same series over a period of 4 years, all with 90+ metacritic score.
