Well @RIP_Weazel, kudos (and a bubble) to you.
I don't know if using that quote was harsh, but I'm actually surprised to know that even among N4G crowd some people are familiar with the source.
As for your second point: the games are indeed the key consideration while everything else is just a bonus. Now that you see towards what my point was directed, I have to absolutely 100% agree with what you're saying: When it comes to the actual games Sony is defini...
@cgoodno,
What you and everyone else are probably missing (and I don't blame you, as the "article" is very misleading) is that Crytek was refering to game development:
Game development in Cryengine 3 is done in real time: what you see is what you get on multiple outputs simultaneously (console, PC).
With UDK (Unreal) and most other engines it's not the same: you create a level, and then before the game is rendered and ready to be pl...
@RIP_Weazel
As you may or may not have noticed, my response was directly to MrSpace comment who wrote the sentence "Sony are actually giving gamers what they want this year unlike other companies".
I assume you had no problems with his original comment which is both absolutely irrelevant by itself and trollish to say the least - implying that Microsoft and Nintendo are not giving gamers what they want.
This article is about the removal of component c...

Ramshak, your heating/power issues simply ignore the facts...
Perhaps today current iterations of the PS3/X360 run below 100W because they use smaller scale form of 6 years old CPU and GPU design.
But the original GPU for the 360 was 90nm and more advanced then the PC GPUs released at the same time (with some DX10 features and unified shaders). this resulted in a power hungry system which required over 200W of power from the socket. The PS3 was even more power hungry, and ever...
"No other multiplayer title lets you jump from truck to truck while attacking a flying airplane."
Maybe not, but Halo 3 lets me jump from Elephant to Elephant while attacking a flying Banshee ;)
Only rockstar didn't develop L.A Noire - Team Bondi did. And Team Bondi announced it as a PS3 exclusive a while back when the game was backed by Sony:
http://www.eurogamer.net/ar...
This was later confirmed a PS3 exclusive by Rockstar when it took over the publishing of the game, and only a year before the game was released an Xbox version was announced.
This is a clear ex...

Class system? All Halo Reach has is a loadout system which replaced the item pickup. Some playlists don't even have it.
But the list is pretty much spot on with the best online shooters: COD, TF2 and BC2 for class based shooters, and Halo & Gears for regular shooters.
I'd argue that some other games might had a chance, but didn't have the community and developer longevity to support them.
I thought that Mario Kart was the best selling racer...
NathanExplosion, you seem to have a short memory span: the last game that started as a PS3 exclusive and was ported to Xbox 360 late into development was L.A Noire (after a few years of development on the PS3).
As for Dirt 3 - you are entirely wrong. It didn't have a lead version and was developed simultaneously on both platforms. Add to that the fact that the EGO game engine was already established from previous Codemasters titles, so it is seems that the developers simp...
Where's the soviet invasion from Red Alert 2? Where's the (similar) soviet invasion from Modern Warfare? Where's the devestated New York from Crysis 2?
And where's this:

Diablo already has tons of rivals available on consoles: Torchlight, Sacred, Daungeon Siege etc.
None of them seems as addicting, but ruin is a portable game and therefore it seems to be even less ambitious then the ones mentioned above.
Uncharted cinematics are pre-rendered videos (just like many other games) so there's no point comparing them to Gears.
And Mark reign is right: console power is limiting, and the Samaritan video running on a triple GPU PC in real time has no competition coming close to it so far.
@Hicken:
If you find using the middle finger counter-intuitive, using the index finger is indeed a slight compromise. But a bigger compromise is to press the PS3 shoulder pad which makes it much harder to accurately control bursts compared to a proper trigger.
And that's nothing, the biggest compromise is having the left analog stick located too low on the pad (which is basically a fault of the original pad design where the DPAD was located in the ideal place and the analo...
@Agent-86:
1) I don't HAVE to include the XBL subscription price since I don't have to pay for online - only if and when I want to play online.
2) Paying $60 per year is as absurd as paying 60$ for every game. There are always sales for you to take advantage off, promotional offers etc. For example, I just bought 3 years of gold for 36$ and that is still far off from the price of a capable PC...
@ firemassacre
You got it all wrong and that's why you're getting disagrees. Next time try to understand that some IGN semi-preview before a game is released without proper comparison acounts to nothing.
Doing your research before coming up with ridiculous claims is important if you don't want to make fun of yourself, and having a short memory is no excuse:

While Halo 3 tech was amazing, there was something "off" with the water. The funny thing is that Reach seemed to fix that and make the water look amazing while toning down some of the water physics.
It still amazes me how subtle yet polished the effects in this game without being "in your face" while still managing to outperform all other games to date (except perhaps hydrophobia which is a game centered around water and Crysis for it's underwater effe...
COD2 and Oblivion proved to be superior on the PC back in 2005-2006. Consoles couldn't even stack up to PC resolution back then.
The only 2 questions are:
1) Do you have the money to afford a superior PC? The most basic Xbox 360 can now be bought for sub 200$ and you're unlikely to find a similarly powerful PC for the same price.
2) Do you have the time to spend some time on installation processes, compatibility issues and driver updates? Consoles (mos...
Nothing to do with budget. Everything to do with quality.
There are almost no proper RPG games for the handhelds. On the go I play some JRPGs just because of lack of better choices - I wouldn't bother playing them if there were proper alternatives like Elder Scrolls or Dragon Age or Demons Souls for the handhelds.
