More than likely it's the mesh shaders feature. The test I've seen the RTX 2080 ran twice as the GTX 1080 TI. Both have similar raster performance most games, but the mesh shaders doubled the FPS in Alan Wake 2. I got on PC, 1270P resolution is too damn low in a 4K display. 7900XT GPU handles this game in 4K ultra settings without RT. FSR set to quality, engaging RT if you turn everything down to medium. Set the resolution to 3200X1800P and set FSR 2 mode to balance for a good mix of ...

I'm questioning their efforts after six years of development time. Did they spend five of six years just working on Ray Tracing? I know they usual help Playground games so not everyone working was working on FM8. After seeing videos and screen shots, FM7 has a better image quality than FM8. Before I get jumped on, I'm not talking about features like RT, and better shadows. I'm talking about a clearer image overall. The TAA and texture filtering is poor. The game has blurriness abo...

I said the same thing when I saw the specs. Devs will have to design their games around last gen memory configurations and you had people like Dealer and Colt Eastwood screaming sliders, sampler feedback, FSR, mesh shaders, and direct storage. You would explain in the chat rooms they had no idea what they're talking about and no response. When challenged on their panel, they would change the subject, especially Dealer and not let people finish because he didn't want to be proven wrong...

Thank you! I echoed similar conclusion if the PS5 was the lead platform, XBSS and ultimately XSX will have problems. You see comments about sliders, and PC lowest spec. Well, it depends on the base configuration and just simply turning down resolution and effects. If a game is designed around 7 GBs of ram loaded at all time, not accounting for VRAM. You only have 1 GB of VRAM to work with on XBSS and 7 GBS on XSX. 1 GB of vram, you're going to have to make some serious graphical sacrifice...

XBSS was a horrible idea pushed by fanboys who thought they were smart. Listen to them, they just have to adjust the sliders. The PC is the lowest platform over and over not taking into account game design at higher spec. Some things are simply not move the sliders down.

But, but, Dealer doesn't want to hear it because developers are not using XBSS features. VRS, Sampler Feedback, FSR, and Xbox Series S is a great platform. I said it in 2020, I'll say it again, XBSS was a mistake. Sure XBSS fans, consumer say otherwise, and they think it's just slider developers have to adjust. It wouldn't even make sense for Microsoft to release XSX Pro because games have to be designed around XBSS limitations.

Well, games from MS will still be designed around a 4 TFLOP GPU with 8 Gigs of ram. Unless MS come out and say it's a cloud streaming box. They won't do it and be forever hamstrung by the XBSS. Poor decision by MS on this console, and morons who pushed it, try to defend it and lie about what developers aren't doing.

It's a corridor shooter complete with a bunch of gray color. Not sure why a SSD would even needed for game that doesn't look as good as 2016 Doom.

That depends on game design and the lead platform. If you design your game around a bigger memory foot print, denser geometry, dialog, NPC, animation, all eat up 9 GBs at its base, the harder it be to squeeze into smaller footprints. Developers have said this as well, just google search XBSS out of ram, or developers issues with XBSS ram. They've been saying this since early 2021 so this is nothing new. With the PS5 being the market leader, more than likely it is now the lead platform for...

Anybody with reasonable degree of technical proficiency saw this coming. I was banging the table Lockhart would hold back next gen the moment I saw the specs. It should have been a 6 TFLOP console (1550 MHZ X 2048 ALUs, X2 SIMD) with 12 GBs of ram if they wanted the same experience as the XSX, but at 1440P. Some of the game don't hit 60 FPS or no performance mode. Some games native rendering is under 1080P with upscaling just to build at 1080P image at 60 FPS. Some games there's no R...

When I saw the specs I thought no way this thing will be able to keep up. Good CPU backed by a PS4 Pro style memory, and bandwidth constraints. The S should of had 12 GBs at least, with 288 GBPS or more bandwidth. GPU core count should have been 2048 at it's current configuration. This would allowed for much better next Gen performance. Instead we have a 2023 console outputting 1080P several years in the era of 4K. But Dealer and Colt banged the table for this crap. Didn't understand ...

@blackblades Colt is at least reasonable and understand more on the technical side. Dealer is more concern about having the last word, no matter if he's wrong or not. Dealer pushed Lockheart, I said from the beginning when I saw the specs it was going to be a problem. He kept saying well the PC is the lowest dominator, it's not the XBSS. You try to tell him, this will effect game design, which also includes visual design and explain the harder you push the top end consoles, the bigger...

Dealer from RDX podcast is an idiot. He's no better than Crap Gamer. Dealer has a great voice and understands surface details. Unfortunately in depth technical knowledge he's limited. His a$$ don't know what he's talking about the half of the time when it comes to technical conversations. The moment you challenge him, and what the person said is correct, he tries to change the subject when he's being proven wrong. I've heard developers say something contradictory to hi...

Check out other YouTuber. They're not having problems, asking any Xbox user playing this game, they're not having problems. https://www.youtube.com/wat...

That DF video is cap. Nobody has reported issues with the XSX version but damn prior to their video. I've posted a few links to other channels that has the XSX running smooth. I have it and it's smooth on my XSX.

Saw another video showing good FPS on the XSX. This Digital Foundry video is cap. What's up with the 13 disagrees? Watch the damn videos, there's nothing to disagree with. I'm guessing because it doesn't support the narrative you guys disagree?

DF review is garbage, nobody is having FPS issues I've seen on XSX except Oliver. The game is actually smooth, I'm guessing the reviewers has too many games on Quick Resume. Those drops looks like access and shader stutters. If you have an XSX, connect a keyboard to your Xbox, press the number 1 on the numpad twice and it will give you the FPS, RAM, and GPU usage. Play the scene DF claims and you will see their review is full of crap. Other Youtubers the XSX version is essentially ...

Yep, but you have certain sites acting like XBSS is great. Glorious 900P, 1080P, and every bluemoon 1440P gaming in 2022 feels it abit like 2015 (XB1S could do 1440P, see Doom64). I'll pick the XB1X version over the XBSS any day of the week. I guess if you have a 22 monitor with 1366X768 resolution you might be happy as with it.

PS 2 main ram memory bandwidth was 3.2 GBPS. GPU Ram was 48 GBPS but only 4MBs. XBSX read speeds from the NVME drive is 3.6 GBPS. Using the NVME as ram the best you can get is 3.6 GBPS which just outpace the PS2 main ram speed of 3.2 GBPS. Again, so there's no confusion, this is for the XBS consoles using it's NVME drive as ram. This is only really good for moving low res textures by today's standard, or storing animation data.

I've been arguing this on Youtube for years and the usual crowd come for me with the same ridiculous talking points from Dealer. They're not taking full advantage of the Xbox, there's no mesh shaders, FSR, sampler feedback, VRS, RT, memory multiplier this, and that. Well if developer use the same techniques on the XSX then the gap is just the same. If they don't use the techniques on XSX then they're not taking advantage of XSX so the XBSS does in fact hold back the XSX. V...
