Yes, it looks (arguably) nicer on the Wii U, but played via Gamecube/Wii you would be enjoying 99.9% as much...FACT.
Regarding alleged...
I say it because yes, on paper the specs have increased, but HOW are games such as Bloodbourne (for example) not running at a locked 60fps - something most fan boys anticipated the PS4 would do without breaking sweat post launch? I'm genuinely not trolling - I own both PS4 and Bloodbourne...I'm just curious where all that extra power is going.
My only problem with X - and similar games of this ilk - is that if you have interests/commitments outside of videogames, you aren't even going to scratch the surface. Probably would be one of the best games I'd have ever played if I was still in my early teens.
It was/is a 'must buy' at its RRP - to be honest. If people are willing to pay £50-£60 for the latest COD and/or Fifa AND the regular micotransactions on top...
Agreed. The performance of said game appears solid, but, my point being that is a rarity these days via PS4/XB1. Too many games run at an inconsistent fps in my opinion.
So, my point being surely 'underpowered' - a term regularly aimed at Wii/Wii U - is bogus, and in fact it is more how good (or not) a developer is which makes good looking, running AND performing games.
Does a PS4/XB1 'fan boy' dare come forward and defend how 30fps is satisfactory when leading up to the release of said consoles the talk was of 60fps without breaking sweat. I swear I'm not trolling, just curious how these statements - of which there were plenty - appear to have been brushed under the rug.
This gen via PS4/XB1 should here forth be renamed last gen.5. More previous gen games slightly brushed up rather than games built from the ground up to take advantage of more (alleged) powerful hardware. I say alleged only because many games which are the latter struggle - performance wise.
The familiarity of some so-called AAA games - yes. It's ironic that the majority cite Mario, Zelda for not changing when in fact it's games closer to home which are the problem. Assassins Creed, Halo, Uncharted - you would be hard pressed to explain to a 'casual' the difference between each.
Whereas Nintendo's staple IP's offer change with each gen/variation. My advice with anybody losing interest in videogames...give Nintendo a try.
One thing...
'Underpowered' means s**t. Look at the actual GAMES - God forbid - for once. Specs mean NOTHING if developers are either lazy and/or average. I'll wager ANY Nintendo fan (such as myself) couldn't imagine SM3DW, Bayonetta 2, Smash, DKTF - etc, etc, etc - looking/running any better even if on a high-end PC.
Ok, so you are well versed with the term ''Underpowered' - the trolls go to word. Ever heard of the term overkill? ...
Absolute rubbish! Don't like Wii and/or Wii U 'forced gimmicks' - don't buy either. God forbid the Wii (for example) should open up gaming away from JUST the spotty adolescents dungeon/bedroom - whilst at the same time offering games for its 'core' audience.
With the Wii U (again, for example), like the Gamecube and Dreamcast, its all about trends. Each it is usually agreed offers a great library of games, but the average 'gamer' is more over m...
Games - for example such as Mario, Zelda, Metroid, etc, etc...irrelevant!? The games you mention are usually buggy half-finished shams. I'll take Nintendo's quality control over a 6 monthly instalment of a popular adolescents franchise.
Pull what exactly? The controller in question is for Pokémon Tournament alone - it specifys such. ALL other games playable via Wii U can be played on the included Gamepad. Nobody has pulled a fast one...certainly not like when I purchased my PS4 at launch and included controller lacked 'rumble'.
Screen-tearing AND not even a locked 30fps. Sounds solid(ish) for the most part, but I just point this out towards all the fan boys who were claiming all (if not most) PS4/XB1 games would be running at 60fps LOCKED prior to launch. In reality these numbers rarely matter dramatically, but just an observation.
So, 'underpowered'...
Didn't the Wii absolutely own that particular gen besides 'cutting corners' and/or offering 'gimmicky hardware'?
I can tell you want Nintendo DON'T need to do...listen to you!
The terms 'gimmicky' and/or 'underpowered' should be underlined in the trolls bible.
Nothing about either Wii or Wii U is 'gimmicky'. I'll tell you gimmicky...PS Move, Kinect. It's gimmicky to release hardware wit...
I'll give you one good reason...quality control. I'm sorry, but games such as The Witcher 3 and Fallout 4 (for example) on a Nintendo console? I dont think so.
Funny you should pick both N64 and/or Gamecube as examples of Nintendo on top of their game - most would cite NES and/or Super Nintendo...myself included. Dont get me wrong, I have enjoyed every Nintendo console from the NES up to (and including) the Wii U, but I just think its curious you gave those 2 examples.
Also, if you dont/didnt find both Wii and/or Wii U "essential" and "pioneering" then I think (sorry to say) your judgement may be way, way off.
3rd party, Indie, etc, etc - its all good. I however (as always) will be buying the NX - as I have every major Nintendo hardware - based on exclusives alone. I'm sorry, but these trolls who claim the NX MUST offer this and that strike me as the types who never truly support and/or enjoy what Nintendo is all about - that being EXCLUSIVES. You want an all in 1 media entertainment system - a sort of jack of all trades master of none - buy Sony or Microsoft. You want a GAMES system...Nintendo...
For 'the world' read - a small section of desperate hopefuls.
@Wallstret37
Just one thing I think needs addressing - to cut out the trolling, naivety and misunderstanding. Nintendo's games have that constant art style NOT to "mask shortcomings of its consoles" - of which only the Wii was arguably 'underpowered in that particular gen. I mean, didn't the WW debacle teach you anything? Nintendo's core (such as me) buy Nintendo (generally) for escapism and/or expect them to distance themselves from what is availabl...
Better be a 'dead system' than vanilla. First, let us leave those who don't own said system behind - trolling from the sidelines is just that, trolling. Secondly, the Wii U - which I've owned since launch - has offered me a wide and varied library of games, both retail, Indie AND Virtual Console...so much so I've barely scratched the surface of many. Job, Girlfriend, Dog, Family, Friends AND other non-videogame related interests/activities will just not end - gratefully. ...
