This. Obviously looks like it'll find a happy home with many fans of the genre, however, I don't believe - yes, based solely on the demo - it's holds a candle to games it's clearly trying to imitate, Bayonetta 2 and MGSR (for example). Again, each his own.

People celebrate good reviews like they themselves are shareholders. It's all a matter of taste/opinion. For example, I played the demo of said game, I found it hackneyed and not nearly dynamic enough for a game of its type...I'll be passing. SM3DW on the other hand scored equally as well on release, yet this was a game I couldn't have agreed on with the critics more, a masterpiece. Each his own.

I'm not jumping the gun on this. I'm anti-DLC (generally), but then done well like MK8's can be a very good thing. I'll wait and see playing through ABOTW before making the decision whether said DLC is near-mandatory rather than a luxury.

A good 'review' barring the obvious 'this being a console for the future' statement he ended with. Certainly when I picked up my WiiU and PS4 this gen both were likewise, possessing no truly essential/exclusive games at launch. My New 3DS being the difference, obviously - time previously to build an extensive library of games via numerous model 3DS's.

Guess you didn't read the critique which details all included control options being preferable to that of the optional Pro controller.

You kidding? I'd feel far, far more jaded playing games such as GTA or RDR, knowing all the while vibrant, innovative and immensely playable games exist ONLY on Nintendo hardware. It's a matter of opinion of course.

You'd think this would have been put to bed by now. It's easy. Nintendo isn't competing with Sony and/or Microsoft, but instead finding a niche in the industry in which it can offer it's own brand of entertainment, the industry being all the better for it in my opinion. I've never picked up a Nintendo home console - of which I've done continually since the SNES - with my priority being will it be more powerful than anything on the market under a lab environment.

A Breath of the Wild may have something to say on this matter. Mario Odyssey likewise.

Played the Neir demo. For me - what little I played - felt a hatchet job. Very early impressions.

The f**k!? A Breath of the Wild running on Switch being a 1st gen game both looking and running great says it all. Numbers on a spreadsheet is solely for plums.

Games on the whole are generally better now (I find), but the problem being an 'ageing gamer' is less the games themselves but not finding and/or justifying the time spent playing said games I once did.

Still, psyched as hell for Zelda: A Breath of the Wild.

Depends on your definition 'hit'. Looking at my library of WiiU games vs PS4 I also own, the WiiU (for me) has been far, far the bigger success this gen, certainly in terms of games owned/enjoyed.

But yes, I think Switch will shift some numbers, not Wii but not WiiU either - somewhere in between.

I've one pre-ordered, Neon. However, I've Zelda pre-ordered for my WiiU and with Bomberman 94 releasing this week via WiiU eShop, I don't know if I'll even be unboxing my Switch for a considerable period, that is certainly until Mario Odyssey launches.

Time will tell on that front, not you.

Not only does SM3DW deserve mention in the same breath of the very best games in the Mario canon, both 2D and 3D, it also deserves mention as the best game this gen and easily in the top 50 of all time. Essential.

Nothing barring perhaps Mario Odyssey has me more excited this year. March 3rd please.

No. Just Axiom Verge. Just arguably the best Indie game of all time - after Undertale and Cave Story.

Ok, while not my bag, Skyrim seems to have been a big success with many folk, but I DON'T want ANY Zelda title to be compared and/or take inspiration from Skyrim. I mean, this is Zelda FFS. If anything, it should be Zelda>>>>every other game (including Skyrim).

Titanfall 2 looks and reads like a great game. Any great game will be missed. However, the trade-off is Nintendo 1st party exclusives. Me personally, I wouldn't take all the 3rd party games in the world over Nintendo 1st party exclusives. It's a trade-off.

I'm as frustrated as anybody regarding the delay. However, The Last Guardian (for example) was supposed to launch 2001 or something crazy like that. Games get delayed. As long as when it does arrive it meets or even exceeds expectations.
