I would later rebuy a Saturn but I remember being a college student and working at Sears at launch and the Saturn released a week earlier than the Playstion so I bought it. Sears later allowed me to return it for the Playstation as every multi-plat game performed or looked better. The Saturn was a 2-D sprite crunching monster but back then most games moved to 3D polygons. It seems Segas downfall started with all those add-ons for the Genesis before the Saturn arrived.
I have both consoles but may opt for the Series X Gamepass version.

I agree. To me the exclusive, single platform model is so arcaic and dated that it really doesn't work for many which is why Sony and MS opened up their games to PC and now MS to everyone which to me is a great move as the most gamers hands you can get your games in is not only good for all gamers but good for the industry.
I suspect Microsoft will be fine no matter what they do with Xbox as a brand. They probably will as those Playstations and accessories are made over there just they are for Nintendo and Microsoft and Sony isn't eating 145% tariffs so that will also be passed to the consumer.

Microsoft has too much money for that. They are rumored to release a PC/console hybrid in 2026. They will push all you hope as a publisher while having new hardware next year, so the games will appear on their platform and every other platform which is good to me if the goal is to sell software. I need my Xboxs as my 4 generations of Xbox games are not on the Playstation, but it's good to see more gamers getting this great game. Looking at my 2024 stats my Series X was played twice more than my PS5 & Pro, so I am fine with all of the consoles. I have hundreds of hours into the Series X version so no reason to get it for the Pro, but the more gamers that have access to great games is best for all gamers. Microsoft should put the games on Switch 2 also if possible.
I was excited for the Switch 2 before they started releasing details on just about everything about it, so I think at launch I will just stick with the original. I have all of the first party games on my current Switch. It never leaves the dock and I have completed none of them. My backlog is so huge right now, I have started clearing some of those games, but I hope the S2 does well for Nintendo.

To be fair it is a handheld hybrid console. From everything I have seen on the console it is not on the level of a Series S power wise in dock mode so I hope Nintendo fans are not expecting that.
