Honestly, if you are looking for PS2 backwards compatibility, just get a 20GB or 60GB PS3 off of eBay.

Software backward compatibility will never match hardware backward compatibility.

I'm telling ya... The Intel Mac's are the best of both worlds...

A bit on the pricy side, but Apple has always been about solid hardware. If you do any kind of graphics or audio/video work on your computer, you will absolutely fall in love with MacOS X. It just works, it isn't a resource hog, and it doesn't get in your way.

And if you want to run Windows (or Linux), you can do it either through Boot Camp (dual-boot your Mac), or through virtualization (like Parall...

Seriously, just download a Live Evaluation copy of Ubuntu Linux (I would recommend the Kbuntu version for those used to Windows) and check it out.

You don't even have to install it. Just burn the disc image to a CD/DVD, and boot off of it.

There are alternatives, and thanks to Ubuntu even Linux novices can get around with ease...

Now if you're more of a tech-head like me, check out the Live Evaluation copy of OpenSuSE. Not quite as N00b friendly as Ubu...

Yet I have run into the issues that this article is talking about...

I have an Acer Aspire 5672 Wlmi laptop (Core Duo 1.6Ghz, 2GB RAM, 100GB 7200RPM SATA HDD, and an ATI Radeon Mobility x1400 128MB) that has one of those "Made for XP, Vista Ready" stickers on it.

When Vista released, I picked up a copy of Vista Ultimate through the company store, and installed it on my Acer. HUGE drop in performance compared to XP. I went ahead and restored the Norton Gho...

I had Comcast's HD service up in Philly, and it was a mixed bag...

Sports in HD looked phenominal. Even though it was 1080i, it looked great.

Now their other "HD" channels... Meh... Plagued with compression artifacts, and often only looking like upscaled versions of the SD channels. Even HBO-HD was only so-so...

The truly funny part is that using a digital tuner, and receiving HD broadcasts from Philly stations gave a better picture quality...

Honestly, it would take a steady stream of EXCELLENT JRPG's on the 360, and a complete and utter lack of JRPG's on the PS3 for this trend to continue.

If anything, this is a wake-up call for Sony to start cranking out JRPG's. I personally can't believe that the PS3 has been on the market for as long as it has without any real JRPG releases.

As far as price goes... Any time you have a significant price drop, you will see a spike in sales.

Microsoft has ...

Are you trying to say that Sony doesn't have third party developer support for the PS3? LOL...

Sony may be losing third party EXCLUSIVITY on games, but other than Ace Combat 6 and Beautiful Katamari, I can't think of any other previously Sony exclusive titles going exclusive for the 360.

Yep... I've run across this one on a few of my buddy's PC's.

The most common source of infection is trying to play an audio or video file that requires a codec download. The codec is what installs the malware on the PC.

Yet another reason I'm glad I use OpenSuSE Linux and MacOS X (laptop and desktop, respectively).

"anybody remember the turbogrfx16 portable?"

H3llz yeah!! The good 'ol TurboExpress. Used to play the HuCard TurboGrafx 16 games. That thing was a beast on batteries too... ;-)

Ahhhh... Memories of playing Alien/Devil's Crush and Splatterhouse on the go... =)

Really?

And let's not forget:

Why didn't Sony just throw in a bluetooth chipset/radio in the PSP3000 (and put out a USB bluetooth adapter for PSP1000 and 2000 owners), and just let you use a PS3 controller wirelessly?

That, combined with the video out on the PSP2000 and 3000 would be SWEEET...

If this allowed users to play Virtual Console and Wii Ware games right off of the SD card (and the Wii supported SDHC 16GB), then I could consider it a solution.

Maybe Nintendo could add additional pages for channels when a properly formatted SD card is inserted. This way they could use a secure encrypted filesystem, and lock the content on the card to the console it was purchased on.

That would provide for the optimal solution with the existing hardware. SD cards ...

Not nearly as bad as CoD4 bringing Live to its knees last Christmas... Just logging into live took forever and good luck trying to play online. (while PSN was still rocking out full-speed)

At least this problem is localized to one game, and a BETA at that...

In late 2006 - early 2007 just about every other article on N4G was anti-PS3.

Either XBox 360 fan(boy)s have moved on to other sites, or Playstation fan(boy)s are coming out of the woodwork...

Or maybe Sony learned from their stupid arrogance in the buildup of the PS3 launch, and have actually turned things around.

Regardless, this is just a ploy by TGR to bring in more hits (advertising revenue). The sheer fact that they even care about their article b...

I wonder if Nintendo is feeling some heat in Japan from thee PSP... ;-)

The fact that this thing has dual touchscreens, built in web browser, and actually ties in with Nintendo's Wii Shop Channel is about enough to make me pick up another DS. Hopefully this one will support WPA2 encryption over WiFi so I don't have to leave my router on WEP.

Nintendo is finally somewhat embracing online functionality, hopefully they will either do away with, or unify the whole &quo...
