@SolidSystem:
If human eye can't notice past 30fps, how come I tell the difference every single time I see a 60fps video feed? There's no set fps for the eye. It's quite more complicated than that. Fooling the eye? 30fps is enough. But can't notice? Hardly.
I can tell a Marlyn Monroe pic in outlines, no color, no shading. It is enough to tell me the image is of Marlyn. However, I notice when there's shading too. Heck, even colour if it...
Hi Athlon, I know it is a 2x drive.
I meant, I wish it was double the speed [it currently is], which would make it a 4x drive
We'd be seeing close-to-hard-disk read speeds, and many of the harddisk installations would go away. I don't care about installing once, but MGS4's installation scheme was really, really bad. I even didn't want to re-play a certain fun mission because it would lead to re-installing the chapter, and re-installing the...
Guys, he is probably talking about motion interpolation without actually knowing it. Those techs which add extra *intermediary* frames in between (not the same frame mind you).
Repeating the same frame on an LCD doesn't mean much as it doesn't work like CRT and Plasmas, there's no actual refresh rate of pixels, the pixels light up, and stay the same until they have to change to another color: LCD's response time is what matters there. On CRT and Plasmas, rep...
If only PS3's bluray was double the speed.
Sure, it holds a lot, but it was very awful installing episodes of MGS4, especially when my brother and I were playing different levels. I'd really have preferred simply inserting the appropriate DVD of the given level.
I had stopped watching the video soon as I understood it was a major set-piece. I'm trying to forget the images as I'm typing this.
Seeing such set-pieces before I play the game really screws the WTF moments of the game. I had it happen to me at uncharted 2. So many awesome moments ruined by having seen them earlier, even through official trailers. And god damn video reviews, don't watch them AT ALL. So many visual spoilers. Movie reviews in video form do it muc...
They are forgetting that the first person perspective is not reflected in third person necessarily in the game, like you wouldn't see an ultra detailed reload animation from the third person perspective. The gun in KZ2 is rendered on a separate foreground layer for quite a lot of reasons, and not in the actualy game-world, just like many-many fps games do.
Yeah, cars would pile up after the first corner because of passed out drivers :D
NFS: AfterBurner
GT5: Flight Simulator X
(A bit exaggerating the arcade difference :)
I'm not religious, at all, but you say God once burned a city to the ground. But it is God we are talking about, God makes the rules, right? It's not as if God allows us to burn cities. God can do whatever God wants!
Talking about violence, God does plan eternal violence against non-believers and mega-sinners. Which is the most violent thing, ever!
We should thank Logitech for their high quality product at an affordable price..
I'm definitely against this boosting, in KZ2, I and my brother refused to create servers with fake matches to get some of the hard to get trophies, even tho I think some of them are too demanding and could use some shortcuts.(I still don't have some of them, lulz)
However, getting this many friends to line up for you and die is an achievement itself! I don't think I can persuade that many people to line up for me and wait for their impending death. We should era...
Yeah, and you also see those start to fly like feathers (esp. at 45th second) at times, when the cars start going in a non-aerodynamic angle, the air lifts the car like feathers at those speeds.
One problem with the GT crashes is that, it still has rigid body dynamics, things deform to some extent but the crash energy is not absorbed by the folding metal, the car acts like a rigid body, hence the bouncy physics.
After seeing those crashes, (crashes at suc...
This game rocks..
Can you guys make sure if this supports sixaxis functionality (I received a mail from their support that sixaxis may not be supported, it could be an error)
iRage, it should be called. I've been clicking these for too long, dammit. They made a mistake for using the Rage name, them ID guys.
240 hz is actually overkill. 120 hz is good enough to fool the eye, if you ask me.
You are correct about things you say..
About the artefacts: the interpolation technology is very good for camera pans, but for moving objects against the backdrop, since the set cannot guess what is actually behind the object, you get artefacts on the edges of objects. But still, some sets do a very decent job of it. Another problem is that, especially for movies, some por...
Now that you mention it, I'm worried about it too. The best solution would be to have a reviewer's difficulty mode (read: casual), and a simulation mode (the fight). Reserve 90% of the trophies exclusively for the simulation mode.
But like you say, the reviewers are not ready for hardcore motion gaming. Hardcore motion gaming should mean your actions should be precise (and powerful, if we're talking about boxing) where need be. The silly thing is they write of m...
I share Cupcake's sentiments :)
My brother's samsung upconverts 30 fps games to 60fps, and they look very nice. One important thing is the input lag, his Samsung set does it fast, so the games are playable, BF BC2 at 60fps, nice; although it cannot track big movements: so portions of the frame can still be 30hz.. My friend's philips adds about half a second lag when the Digital Natural Motion is turned on (philips' naming of motion flow), so games are not pl...
I fully understand the reasons of holding back the damage until later, and I support PD's approach for this, but reviewers could be reminded about this. GT5 is an endless game, and reviewers could be reminded that the feature set changes with level, because this is not something that they expected at all. The reviewers could at least be warned not to write a review before they level up to 40, without telling much. This is not to save reviewers' asses btw, but to ensure a better review...
It could be fiscal year. After all KZ3 is coming out in 2010 Fiscal Year, if they had promised, they are keeping that promise!
LBP was supposed to come out before Christmas, tho. It made a LOT OF sense. Unfortunately it was postponed.
